Yeah, that's always the reaction. Most players get the bulk of their practice through ladder, so of course they don't want a different map pool. Even in the GSL where players play a lot more customs, the non-ladder maps are picked less.
One way Blizzard could improve (though not solve) the situation would be to increase the number of maps on ladder to something like 11, so that tournaments could pick a subset of those maps for their map pool. This also allows tournaments to avoid significantly imbalanced maps. Besides with the increased prevalence of Bo5s in LotV, a map pool size increase would be welcome.

yep mech is eternally bad vs Protoss

Don't really see the point in Ultras vs mech.

good to know that progamers don't know how to beat mass carrier either

When sOs is the carrier player it usually seems to work out for the zerg.

Adding more maps to ladder might impact matchmaking?

Maps don't affect matchmaking at all. Since the number of vetoes is less than half the map pool every player has at least a map that overlaps with every other player. So you just get matched against the opponent and then it chooses a map both players have.

Well to be fair he did get completely outsurrounded by Zealots. And when playing mech its 100% neccesary that you have a critical mass of hellbats (+ widow mines?) so you don't die to Zealots because that gets snowballed very fast.
It's better to have slightly too few tanks than slightly too few antizealot-units.
So that might be a composition-adjustment issue that players needs to figure out. It will definitely be exciting to follow the scene and I am sure blizzard will make balance adjustments if mech is still too weak.

Casters are going to draw the bracket once this group is over. I'll update this thread and Liquipedia once the draw is over.
