The eSports community has shaped Starcraft 2 since before it launched back in 2010. It's cultivated a community highly focused around the competition, being the best and fair competition. Over the years we've learned what the best formats are to determine the best Starcraft 2 player in a reasonable fashion.
This is another Starcraft 2 tournament but before we begin I want to make one thing clear:
This is not a fair competition
This is not a fair competition
Challenge Wars is a new tournament series about having fun. Both the players and the viewers are encouraged to abandon the shackles of reason as we dive into formats that any sane person would know are a little off. At the end of the day, this tournament exists for those who are tired of only seeing double elimination brackets, group stage play and tournaments that blend together because they all look like the same thing.
Some of the tournaments you'll see in Challenge Wars will be more reasonable but with an interesting twist you've never seen before. Some of them will be wonky and force players and viewers to really think about what's going to happen. Some of them will make you question if you can even classify this as a tournament because of how ridiculous the ideas are, but my sincerest hope is that all of them will make you gasp, laugh, cheer, jeer and ultimately remember to have fun.
We're kicked off Challenge Wars with GGLetsRE. For the second Challenge Wars event, we're getting a bit more crazy...
Indistinguishable is an 8-man single-elimination tournament with some top European players. The format for the overall tournament is pretty standard, but this event is not about being normal..
Players will play on a custom mod where every one of their units and buildings will look exactly the same. That's it. Just a regular old match with professional games in which every unit and building looks completely identical and indistinguishable.
For example, let's say the player decides they've been haunted enough by being supply blocked and being forced to "construct additional pylons". The player can choose to make all of their units look like a pylon. Every probe. Every zealot. Every carrier. Every robotics facility. And yes, every pylon. Each player will be able to choose their unit to create their indistinguishable army.
The event will take place on Thursday, Feb 11 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) over on:
The Prize pool will be $500 because this a very serious tournament with a very serious prize pool.
The player lineup will be a variety of top European talent.
Casting will be done by Ravi "feardragon" Pareek and a Kwame Temp0 Mensah.

Wait so...any unit...or building?
Well almost any unit. We've placed a restriction so players can only make their units look like a unit of their race or neutral units for clarity sake. This will result in some...odd looking behavior but the game should still technically function as per usual....technically...
How are you doing this?
The amazing @nice__username is making a mod that will do this. In reality, there's a chance we will come across some very big game breaking bugs as there are a lot of possibilities for something to break with this. But in the spirit of embracing the craziness, we're just going to roll with it and see where things take us.
Is the tournament called Challenge Wars or Indistinguishable?
This tournament is called Indistinguishable, but the tournament series is called Challenge Wars. The term series implying this is the first of many unique, one-off format events to come. As of right now there's no intention to repeat any of the tournament ideas for now.
