Koreans will expect cheese out of Scarlett and prepare accordingly. Macro against Stats/Classic is a losing proposition. Between a rock and a hard place. Maybe Classic chokes but I doubt it. Best of luck to Scarlett, she'll need it for this group.
I respect Stats and Classic, and the resurrection of Keen is really strange and interesting to me, but by god, how could I not be rooting for Scarlett? Hoping she's in good shape tonight! Go Scarlett!
Such a pity i can't watch it online, but defenitely will watch VODs! Providing I play porotoss and enjoy Scarlett playstyle so bascially every singe game is worth watching.
Stats disrespectd scarlett this game, he thought he could get away playing ultra safe and eventually win late game while letting her do what she wants.

Well it does say: I am good enough in late game that if we get there, I beat you. Some players play extra safe against weaker opponents because of that.

Nah it's a sign that protoss late game is imba, clearly
I think she might have expected a second round of attack right away, hence the swarm hosts not doing anything, because she somehow didn't see the 4th from Stats. Then she realized and panicked

yeah I think with the long delay between waves, it's a difficult decision to launch and remove such a big part of your from action for half a minute when an attack might come.
Stats totally botched that opening BO, by rearranging the 2nd Immortal for the WP and attacking. Parting does that BO in that particular order because it allows you to attack directly, quicker, and at a better supply timing. Trying to pull your opponent apart with an initial attack probably destroys most people, but I think the code S players are usually going to defend that initial attack pretty easily and so much can go wrong for your follow up push. Imagine if the WP dies, then your push is soooooooo sloooowww...
in any case tho, following that botched attack Stats just followed through on his sick macro/backup after doing sufficient damage to be able to stay in the game and just pulled it back with great multi-tasking and pretty bad opportunity capitalization from scarlet. I think she had pretty much the right idea on the follow up, just was too picky about where and when to use the SHs. I think she probably only loses in that position like 30% of the time or something, it looked quite good if she got right to it.
o well, decent game overall. i was quite happy to see the parting opener again. felt really weird still remembering the exact food timings on buildings from a HotS build in LotV hahaha

But people love to assume the game lenght always approachea infinity and every host sends unlimited locusts.
SH are dirt cheap now though and locust DPS is great, so if you can keep them alive they will pay for themselves pretty quickly. The bigger issue is that they cut into your army size so when the locusts are on CD they are worthless in an army fight.
Also Abyssal really doesn't seem that good for the hosts.
They are called free units because they are physically present at the game with Hp bars and stuff, they doesnt behavel ike marine bullets even tho they are the sh "bullets"

Well if you are using swarmhosts every time it's not on cooldown you can easily outdo immortals or hts, especially because in theory they are never in danger because their FREE UNITS engage the enemy while the swarmhosts are in safety

swarmhosts yes, locusts don't
Again, each SH senda limited number of locusts in time intervals. Games don't go on forever.
true but trading vs locusts is always a bad trade, even if you lose 1 zealot for 20 locusts. though of course it's not as simple as that because of the cost of the SHs. I liked TLOs view on this:
It's not true that swarmhosts deal ''free'' damage tho. Making Swarmhosts is like taking a loan, If I make 10 swarmhost I'm in debt with with 1000/750 and 30 supply, the longer my swarmhosts don't deal damage the more damage they deal to myself cause I took a loan that is not paying off. Swarmhosts becoming more useless every single second that goes by and even a single wrongly send locusts wave can lose you the game. Swarmhosts styles are insanely hard to make work if Terran knows how to abuse the downtimes and knows how to deflect waves or push out during the downtimes. I've lost so many games because I send one wave to harras and then Terran a moved me and I only had one more wave at home which won't be enough to make my swarmhosts cost efficient. Swarmhosts actually need to get really close to do anything, if Locusts wave spawn from too far away you can just ignore it, lift buildings or run away workers/army.
The problem is that some mech players have planted this seeds that swarmhosts are simply too strong rather than looking at the solutions of strong players or finding their own too it. I've given you many examples how to deal with swarmhosts.
You should try to look at swarmhosts as an opportunity, because they're very gimmicky and a single mistake will kill Zerg. But if you fear a unit and think it's OP or broken design wise it's a self fulfilling prophecy cause you'll stop looking for weaknesses and solutions. I've been in that spot myself many times and once you are in that mindset you'll stop enjoying the game and just keep losing to it.

KeeN in excellent form today. If his TvZ is as good, he has a decent shot at getting out. Also Classic playing sloppy, letting the initial harass do too much and then missing the doom drop.

if he beats Classic he'll need to face Stats so he'll be pretty tired before being up against Scarlett, if she beats Classic.
the real realism would be that in the middle of the game, you as the commander would have to go to a senate committee hearing about the legitimacy of the war

I'd say it's both. Mass carriers just wasn't a thing. Mass tempest was but at least ground support mattered for tempests to some extent.
Yeah, true. Can't wait for Carriers to be viable in all 3 matchups so we can enjoy them any time a Protoss is involved
They are viable in all three MU:s. It's just hard to switch to them and not die in PvT. In PvZ it's doable on some maps where you can turtle on three-four bases. Carriers!

Their damage against massive air units was lowered and their supply count was increased, and carriers are much better than they used to be. So it's much harder to get a mass of tempests that kills carriers.
Also ground units can kill 10 tempests but not 10 carriers

Yes. Also I misstyped, I meant to say lowered, not removed. They're looking into a buff to fix the carrier situation but as you say, it's gonna hurt Zerg.

So is Stats retarded or what? He sees Classic going into Carriers, sees the numbers knows whats up and his response is get 6 more disruptors before actually dropping down his own Stargates? :D And then once he sees Classic has like 10 more Carriers than him he tries to catch up instead of transitioning to something else? :D
OMG, so bad... And Classic is playing poorly as well, I wish none of these 2 would make it out really. Its embarrassing to watch

He hadn't seen the carriers yet when he was still making disruptors. There is no transition to anything else because mass carrier beats everything. Your comment was embarrassing to read.

what else are you going to make than carriers
Voids/Archon? Or try to go for basetrade / detection snipes... Anything but start making carriers when your opponent has 6 out already. And its his own fault. He overmade disruptors in both games against mass Carrier :D

I just want a special ability to be able to suicide a damaged Carrier into a Hive and make it explode.
Pretty impressive from Keen, kinda disappointing from Scarlett though. There was definitely some room for Scarlett to counter or shut down Keen's harass (esp those Ravens).
Terran's role is it to harass and make sure the Zerg economy doesn't spiral out of control. Zerg's role is it to protect, maintain and grow their economy.
What kind of unit do you want? Zerg's production method doesn't allow it quite frankly.
The game has become more and more harass focused over time. Wince WoL Terran has gotten Liberators, Mine drops, and Reaper grenade. Protoss has gotten Adepts and Oracles. Zerg has only gotten easier Overlord drop, and has had it's comeback ability destroyed by 3 larva.

The point is that the larva mechanic allows for zerg to produce a lot of units at once with just one tech building. You simply cannot give zerg units like oracles/liberators/etc

There's a decent amount of tradition though to GSL champions dropping out in the Ro32 after their big win against players you'd consider far inferior.

TvP is just such a weird matchup. Doesn't matter who wins, always feels like imba in favor of the winning race. I guess balance through imbalance is a thing though.
I mean Stats is clearly the superior player by a large degree (GSL title kinda shows that) but this is still really stupid to watch. But hey, my liquibets

I know people like twitch monopoly for some reason, but I like YT SSL stream better because you can rewind more easily
I like it too but for viewer count, as you know, the should have a twitch stream as well

Why would anyone care on what platform it is, as long as ti works?

I don't know how can people blame Blizzard for their support of KR SC2 esports. There are probably more pros than kr viewers, but the company is still throwing a lot of money to keep GSL alive. The community should thank Blizzard for their effort to sustain a korean show that is obviuosly watched only by the foreign people

Well you know about it already, i guess in general SSL never had the numbers of GSL but only streaming on youtube doesn't help at all. I don't think it's a problem for people on TL

Actually i might even argue against it, with that round robin format you can see your favorite player regularly. So in theory lots of players playing the same day = more viewers

Except if it's the immediate death of a player you like and instantly kills all your interest.

I agree,I would have paid to watch this format years ago @penev: there was a reddit post where lots of people complained about Blizzard let SC2 die because they didn't support ProLeague with their money anymore. People really don't realize or refuse to realize that SC2 is completely gone in Korea.

Proleague was a best of one, here you can see at least 2 maps of your favourite players every week. Shame that both Life and Rain are gone
OUT 0-2 TO KEEN!? REALLY!? If you had asked me what was one possible result I completely didn't expect that would have been it. How the fuck? Sigh... I'm very, very fucking glad I didn't watch live. That's really heartbreaking

Why do you keep relating that nuke to the sound? She was obviously looking right at the place where the nuke was planted, how else would she fungal the ghosts standing next to it? So she must have known about it.
Well it's also kinda unusual to put your nuke right on the army because those are usually the ones that never go off. Generally when you get a nuke alert you'd be more inclined to check on your expansions to make sure you don't lose all your workers.

If you're not looking for a nuke dot and are focused on microing, it is probably very easy to miss.

The nuke dot is hard to see when you're looking for it, let alone when you're not.

KeeN might be a low tier KR player but he is still a KR terran so it should have been expected.
I was expecting Stats came first place and KeeN or Classic came second but I guess either way Stats and Classic got out as expected. Never thought Scarlett would get out but I was hoping she wouldn't finish last. But oh well, KR ladder is all she does these days so this is as good as it gets.

That's so true. I remember there was a period of time Zest was in one of his bad 'slumps', yet he still being fielded. Maybe it's to please the sponsors (just as some pro sports teams are pressured to for marketing reasons)? Or maybe some players can perform worlds apart in practice and live matches?
Or maybe Zest's play is really suffering from the lack of team-house environment. Which is kinda funny in a way, considering Stats always seem more like the team player, one who puts Proleague first before Starleague. Then again, it maybe explains why Stats is absolutely smashing now, being free from his KT shackles? And maybe Zest being kinda the aloof badass guy doesn't have as many close friends as some of the other pros have (contrast with Flash-Rain and soO-Classic bromances), hence now lack stable practice partners that team-houses have. (Yes, I know I'm really spouting speculations right now.)
Would be great to hear interviews from the Korean pros on how the disbandment of KeSPA teams have positively (or negatively) impacted their overall preparation and performance!

Wow, did I get that mixed up somehow? Thinking about it, logically it would make a lot of sense if it was vs someone like Idra rather than MC. I remember there was a victory vs MC that really stood out for me from that era (I think he was at full strength at the time and was beaten with mech?). Don't worry about it, this mixing of memories happens to everyone. Sports are a good way for this to happen because you'll see a lot of matches and they're all relatively similar (as well as the circumstances around them).

Maybe somehow my memory has just crossed some wires in the intervening time. Kinda hilarious if so, given that it's "the one I always remember". Haha. Oh dear...
Don't worry about it, this mixing of memories happens to everyone. Sports are a good way for this to happen because you'll see a lot of matches and they're all relatively similar (as well as the circumstances around them).
Yeah, my memory isn't always the best anyhow. Still... I'm going to assume that it's a Mandela effect thing and I just jumped between timelines. MarineKing still GOAT, right?

I remember TB saying that booths don't really do much anyway. I hope i don't make that up but i am pretty sure he commented on that booth issue some time ago.
booths never functioned as soundproothing, that is correct
At least they didn't work. What was it, Rain vs herO? IIRC afterwards Rain complained that the crowd was audible through the booths and gave away a proxy but he had to keep playing pretending like he didn't notice,
I remember the herO vs Byul finals, herO paused the game because he could hear the crowd or something and it gave away that Byul was rushing him.
The one I always remember was Jinro vs MC, where Jinro said in the interview afterward that he made a point of scouting extra hard early on because he heard the crowd getting louder at the start of the game.
I dont remember this. You sure you arent thinking of me vs idra?
thats what I remember it as. wasn't it the 6 pool game on jungle basin or something?

that happened too but when he beat MC he went into his booth and put his hand on MC's shoulder and everyone made Jesus pics out of Jinro
Another fun memory from back then. TL hated Polt around this time period because he said Jinro wasn't that good. Then everyone forgot about Polt when he became the forgotten GSL champ and even Blizzard Cup didn't have him in the opening credits. Then he came all the way around to being beloved
good first two series besides the 1st game bwtween scarlett and stats. then the PvP... man what a nightmare to watch that series... its even funny to play???!! i just want to have all air unis nerfed, they are too strong overall. Scarlett vs Keen was also good... that nuke though
