Eh, Maru has ByuN's number, so if he's on, he basically has a free pass out of the group in at least second place. If he's off, it wouldn't matter which group he was in.

Sometimes that's all you need.
Inb4 Inno+Maru both proxy reaper ByuN
For real though, the two things ByuN is really good at in TvT are cheesing and defending cheese. So that'd probably not be the best plan.
Seriously, Inno and Maru are thoroughly familiar with ByuN's TvT at this point. I expect both of them to scout thoroughly, bunker up if needed, take it to a macro game, and win.
On July 28 2017 05:16 ByuuN wrote: Group C - soO and herO Group D - ByuN and INnoVation
Maru is losing to players like JJAKJI while ByuN beat INnovation 2 times in a row.
Maru is definitely struggling, but the TvT skill of ByuN and jjakji is not that far apart outside of reapers.
ByuN vs Inno was all online and basically all cheese. Wouldn't put much if any credit on that. I'd be shocked if Inno doesn't scout and defend properly offline since he is definitely favored in a macro TvT.

Just about the only thing I know about Trust is that Inno roflstomped him 3-0 at Gyeonggi. I fully expect the same thing to happen today, except Trust will be spared the third defeat because Bo3.

Close enough. herO Solar is still significantly more interesting than soO TIME.

Eh, I think it is better than Innovation Trust on paper since that looks like a stomping.
So there's not gonna be a b-stream for any of the group stage?? Even a live feed would be nice so anyone can cast over it, it's not exactly a small tourney

we seem to be lucky to get full coverage on an A stream ... :/

I dont play pvz (I main t), but is colossus THAT garbage? or the corruptors are really strong? idk Kev??
I mean solar was up 40 supply, and not in supply inefficient units (bane/hydra/corruptor). He also got a beautiful 3 way flank up in an open space and targetted colossi well, solar definitely deserved to win that fight.
I think if hero had stayed back a little bit, gotten a couple disruptors, and tried to engage from beneath the fourth, it would of gone a lot better
Did Maru place marines in the gap between sensor tower ranges knowing that's where a drop had to come in? Sounds like something really obvious, why don't I do that

You'd still have to spot the medivacs on your minimap and react in time to target them down like Maru.

It either works amazingly well (if opponent assumes it's proxy reapers instead) or completely fails. ByuN did it successfully against TY, TY tried to do it back and failed miserably.

If unscouted and the opponent expands it's insta GG though. But who expands without scouting in TvT (edit: TY thats who)

Hell of an endorsement for Inno.
The guy has been a monster for the better part of 2 expansions. I dont know if I can definitely say that he is but 'possibly the greatest' isnt inaccurate imo.
If you want to have the discussion he is going to be in there.
On July 28 2017 14:15 Shellshock wrote: holy shit why would you do that maru
Innovation's army was easier to control. And he had the economy to make up for the army's lower efficiency. Eventually Maru would fumble and Innovation pounced on that.
it's too bad. byun vs inno could maybe be a little more interesting. byun just gonna get curbstomped again though cause maru is impervious to his cheeses
Stage is only for winner. Poor Bunny. FeelsBadMan.
I'm surprised he bothered to stick around, maybe his hotel is booked for the whole tournament?
Hotel room and plane tickets are booked well in advance, so might as well stick around the convention center
I distinctly remember IEM Katowice having to extend some players reservations though as they made it deeper into the tournament, I mean it makes financial sense not to play for everyone's room and board when you know for certain only two players will be left for the last day.

Wouldn't that end up costing more since you'd have to buy planet tickets for the return flights later?

Korean players are shipped in containers on ships anyway.

I dunno, obviously I wasn't the one doing the buying. Katowice is also different because there were a lot of local players so ESL didn't have to pay for a ton of flights, especially since those local players were mostly eliminated early. Under those circumstances I can understood booking X hotel rooms and dividing X by 2 every day.

Units use the middle all the time. Just not on Proxima which was more airspace than Bosnia's no fly zones.

Exactly what I was thinking. No point in playing Starcraft if the travel time from nat to nat is shorter than from your nat to your 4th.

I am just watching this TvT right now and all they have done is pickup and drop each other bases, the middle of the map may as well not be there, in fact the previous set between them was the same as well

Gumiho is better (at least in 2017) but he is also more overrated. People see him winning GSL on a great day but don't realize he is extremely inconsistent and can lose to iAsonu a month later. Though to be fair some ignorant ByuN fanboys still think he is the best Terran in the world.

Nah. It's not impossible, trust me.
Impossible for me, at least. Inno got through so I didn't really have a preference between Maru/ByuN. Maru is the better player imo but ByuN is such a nice guy it's hard to cheer against him.

Kespa Cup was in KR therefore a special event. He's already got 2 2nd places in foreign premiers :p
byun is a smart guy. he knew that there was no way he could beat innovation, so he throws the first match against maru to get the rematch curse on his side. nice

Rematch curse is no joke. Does anyone else get it on the ladder? I guess losing is a better learning experience than winning. Allows you to adjust to whatever your weakness was in the first match
(I always wished the had a clause or something in GSL so that you couldn't lose to someone in maps and beat them overall. Its always sad to see)

i agree. games 2 and 3 of Innovation v. Maru were awesome.
The only games at IEM Shanghai that were close to bad were the ZvZ games between Soo and Solar with 5 million roaches. Generally speaking, the games have been very good.

Nope. It looked hype as fuck too, but apparently commercials take priority over lategame TvZ.
At least production was better about showing the good series in Groups C and D.
