Have to give a slight edge to Inno, given that he's shown some amazing TvT form lately against Maru/ByuN whilst TY's most recent TvT was a 2-1 against MajOr in GSL.
Given both players' preference for macro in TvT, I expect to see some epic lategame battles. Nothing less than amazing games in the Battle for the Terran Throne.

Even though it would be a ZvZ im down for NesTea vs Stephano ace xD
I don't get what the point of the team match is. If it were an all-kill format, then it might be interesting, but even still, what are people playing for? Pride?

Inno 8-0 all kill wouldn't be that interesting tbh.

There is a couple thousand in prize money, nothing really significant though. Pride is important to these guys too.
And if it was all-kill then Korea just sends Inno out for the 8-0.

I don't
In general i prefer this proleague style system for teamleagues which run longer, but for such a one time thing i would have prefered allkill as well even though there would have been the chance of Innovation just allkilling
nerchio and showtime wouldn't even be able to beat second tier Korean players... control mistakes and obvious lack of mechanics... it's sad. Elazer or even Snute would most likely look more comfortable than nerchio. Has would be a better Protoss choice, at least it would be entertaining

Nerchio played well but Stats' defense is way too good. Showtime got a bit behind because of DTs and it snowballed from there. So I wouldn't say they did badly at all

However nice their play was, they never looked like they had a chance at winning.

He did a good job defending, but Kelazhur never gave him the space to attack.

at the end Ty amoved unsieged tanks into his rines like "dude cmon"

True. But it was Kelazhur's choice to not go for a higher tech army. He was definitely in a position to do so.

I'll tell you my experience at a lan for another game where there were only two top players in it (myself included), and another dude. I was still the favourite
I got distracted by a friend during it, and lost the games. Got really angry, and while the other dude was chilling I was angrily practicing that entire time, and I destroyed him in the finals.
If I'm to empathize with what I felt then, even if it was on a much less significant scale (hey, top in a continent for it anyway), I think if I had time to practice, refresh, and focus I'd strongly prefer his chances with the upset there to anger him and get him fired up for the final ones. But since he can't do it and just has it hovering over him, and TY can be a little emotional (i think - maybe?) I'm not sure if it works in his favour.
On August 06 2017 17:05 Yiome wrote: I wonder if last game is going to tilt TY or buff him for the final
To be honest that's nothing to get tilted by, he was practically dead 8 minutes in but he made Kelazhur face the ultimate struggle. He should feel okay with that and know for the finals that he can still get 2-rax reaper'd.

It wasn't a bad choice either. He got a huge army really fast and was successful in denying the fourth for quite a while. With hindsight he shouldn't have stayed on that comp. for that long, since it isn't good at direct engagements.
That song that played going into the game, they used that some GSL seasons ago as the main theme. Are they recycling all their old stuff this tournament?

Well. Chinese fans were not allowed to vote so Blizzard compensated for that by letting him in, as he had the highest WCS points among the Chinese players. Plus, IAsonu is decent in ZvP and ZvT. He took out Guhimo and Stats during the group stage in IEM shanghai. And if you watched his three games against Innovation, he didnt really lose in an awful manner. Chinese zergs are poor at ZvZ and that really stopped him from getting good results in the WCS region.

Yeah, three 2-3 score and those close late games in the showmatch. But its more painful than getting totally rekt. You feel like it's so close, so close that you could almost reach it, and you slipped off every single time.

Yeah and he wins only because terran is imba imba. Just another patchterran.
What I find quite interesting about the mvp argument is that the comparison is made between performing exceptionally well for almost 2 years vs performing exceptionally well for a few months at a time over a 4 year period... not sure if there's a straightforward way to proclaim one person as the goat over the other
I just realized that Inno has now butchered the entire Spylce team in the finals of a premier tournament, and in horrendously brutal fashion at that. 4-0 Stats at Gyeonggi, 4-1 Solar in SSL, and now 4-0 TY at GSL vs the World

Also won 4-0 in finals over all three races. Stats/sOs for Protoss, soO for Zerg, TY for Terran Just missing Random

Stats joined Splyce just after IEM I think? He still needs to crush him one more time in finals. Maybe this season of GSL.

This 2 year stuff is the biggest lie in all of this mvp circlejerking

If he does, Mr Chae better give him a snake leather belt.

Because he keeps smashing all the players I like.
Nothing personal though, he just smashes everyone
Of course it's not personal, it's Inno.
That smile was creepy.
I think he feels pressured to act like this when he wins or during interviews etc. It's not who he is and that's fine, but still he's trying to be more entertaining.

He simply is the best sc2 player in the world period. It's not even that close (people simply have to understand that you can still lose matches even if you are the best)

He wasn't that far behind after the cheese, they went both macro after the pressure, INno was only 10 supplies behind and took the third earlier, they both macro and at a point Inno sent a lot of just marine to TY's third, TY had to lift bcz he had nothing at home, TY just crumbled, he tried a doom drop and a medivac full and then his drop was cleaned

So... about 3
Serral was for me from all this the biggest surprise. He played well in the tournament matches and he played a great game against Innovation. If it was not Innovation, Serral would win it.

yeah... but if Inno wouldn't have donated like 30 supply of bio early in the game it would have looked way different.

Game 7 against Inno in peak form? Nah I don't think TY could've done that
He wasn't missing much to win on Abyssal (that game was stupidly close) and he was in a good spot on Ascension before he decided to go all-in for no reason. On a better day (because I do believe TY can still do better than he did), that could be 2 wins already. And even 6 games could have been pretty sick.

Yeah, certainly TY was off yesterday. With his normal form he could crush Kelazhur and go toe to toe with Inno. However it would still be impossible to win Inno in his good days: perfect mechanic, well-prepared builds, always punish every opponent's mistake.

TY definitely had a rough day, but after seeing what a TvT monster Inno actually is I would only give TY two games at most.
Which is not to say that TY could never win a Bo7 against Inno, because he definitely can. I'm simply saying that if a better TY showed up to fight Inno on August 6, he could have taken two games instead of zero. Inno just played like a god the whole tournament, he even said that his condition was great in the interview.
