We will see how good Nice and Reynor are before NW
Gogo Maru and TIME

Will reynor live up to his hype?

Maru and Elazer should take this easily but I feel there will be an upset in that group Reynor should beat pucK for sure

I love that Lowko is one of the casters. Nice job on Day 1!

Assuming he makes it through, Group Stage 2 is where we'll really see where he stands. I'm not sure he's one of the 8 best players, but there are groups I think he could get out of.

hopefully today's groups are more interesting than yesterday, the Bly Nerchio series was hilarious yesterday

Gogo Semper & Maru

Elazer's ZvT is not very good so honestly I doubt he's favoured against Time. Maru is a sure bet obviously, and then honestly Time/Elazer is very 50/50.

I put the O/U on this series at 10 minutes.
edit: 10 minutes play time. Not technical issue time.

For all the production issues, the highlight reel is pretty good
|
Dark looked like he didn't care going into that series and it showed in his play. He'd never bring that level of effort against Neeb, ShoWTimE, or Classic, but if he somehow did, he'd lose and lose badly.

Having a chinese add of a chinese tourist in a canoe with a native ameran with feathers and war painting is probably what the fall of the american empire looks like lol

This did not look even remotely close. 2:0 which made an impression of 10:0 Elazer is 2 levels above Time

Only 2 drones on one of the gasses in the main for Dark.
Absolute garbage.

Dark mass overseers...
hmm
|
What the heck you doing, Dark.
|
Mass contaminate really doesn't sound worth it especially when there's no engagements going on and uThermal's almost maxed, making it so it wouldn't even matter if you froze all his production for two minutes.

Uthermal could have won if he transitioned to ravens fter he killed the fourth the first time

Yeah. Or ghosts. But instead he's trying to show us how to counter brood lords with siege tanks and hellions.

So are the tie breakers calculated with map score first or h2h?

Two player ties are h2h, three player ties are map score

Not sure, but based on the rules it would be Elazer. He had the better map score and TIME and Semper

Does Wesg have a youtube channel(i couldnt find any with starcraft2) or only twitch?

They also make a good job adding vods in Twitch highlights as matches are there right after they finish.

Pretty neat 2nd game in Reynor vs puck.
|
How do they select the groups?
|
I suppose it is a random draw with two 1st place finishers and two 2nd place finishers in each group, while the group can not contain players originating from the same old group.
|
When will they announce the groups?
|
|
That is a very concrete answer!

Taking this long to rig the groups is strange. Is it random draw or based of some sort of seeding from previous events?

Among the players who finished first Scarlett is probably one of the best you could get (Neeb, Serral, or the 3 KR players are not guys you wanted there), but among the players who finished second Showtime is the worst player you could get, so not that lucky, even though you got Scarlett there.
If Scarlett wins Showtime, and all of you lose to Maru, then it can be a 1-2 draw for the three of you, and then the map score can play a significant role.
Though I hope one of you will beat Maru.
Showtime wasn't at his beast yesterday, so perhaps you can do it. You did it in Barcelona...

Showtime is the strongest 2nd for sure, Maru the strongest 1st and could be Dark/Classic but still group of death again

Ouch. Real group of death there. I'd still favour you over scarlett and showtime to get out in second though. At least if you do you can't face Maru until the final (?)
|
Is there a link to the groups? Liquipedia is not up to date :|

Why does Serral get the easiest group in every tournament? lol
Group C is definitely the GOD, only group where all four players have potential to go very far imo.
|
Thanks for this.
So we have our most probably quarter finalist in: Dark Special Classic Neeb Maru Scarlett Serral Elazer
After the group stages, wonder if they draw the players again or not. Also, in RO8 I guess besides Maru, the other 2 koreans are beatable from some foreigners, Dark can be beaten by Elazer, Neeb, Serral, Scarlett. Classic can also lose to some zergs if he is sitll off because of the finals against Rogue.
Anyhow, I`m hopping for a KR vs NKR final, but also for good matches, may the best player win.

It's a shame Dark lost his status as the #1 foreigner killer. He had a 35 series winstreak or something crazy before Elazer last year.
|
group C is really tough to predict, cheering for godchio of course!
|
group c will be fun to watch
|
It'll be interesting to see which Korean gets the easy path to the finals. Though, that being said, Dark might be beatable in ZvZ, and his series vs Trap wasn't exactly convincing.

IAsonu chose to retire at the beginning of the year and him being the only one to go this far is a actually quite sad thing for the Chinese sc2 community.

iAsonu group is just one-sided, Dark and Special with almost effortlessly advanced

Too bad about TIME, he always looks good but can never pull through at the important moments. iAsonu's group was also very easy.
