Just wanted to give a golden tip: nowadays you can just go directly to the gsl videos tab as the broadcast is going on and start watching from the beginning. I almost always miss the start, but also always go to the videos tab directly without looking at the stream. No need to wait for VODs, and if you disable chat and dont go to TL/reddit for a bit theres no way you will actually get spoiled. I guess sometimes I see how long it will still take, which is sad. On the other hand, zero downtime is pretty nice.
Yeah I always watch the twitch VOD too for Saturday games, didn't expect Maru to win so easily today but nothing is going to stop Zest winning this GSL i'm sorry Maru fans.
I need a serious explanation of Maru's game 1 strategy. That felt like a build he'd use in the group stage of some random tournament like WESG against a tier 7 player rather than something against Classic in the GSL semifinals. (like when he went for a 2-base Nuke rush on King Sejong in the WESG East Asian qualifiers back in 2016)
Just watched the series and Maru's hold in game 3 was actually really fucking incredible. I would've lost 500 out of 500 games facing that cheese in that situation. Even against a player my own level, no freaking chance for me to win and against someone as good as Classic too.
Ridiculous hold.
It's crazy too because unequivocally Maru's play in that game teaches like the most important aspect of holding shit like that and it's really the effective pulling of SCV's.
Game 1 wraps and you see only 75 minutes left on the VOD. "I guess Classic won in 4."
Maru's play was just incredible. Even in game 1 where he is getting criticized heavily, his initial drop did massive damage and he could've easily had a game-ending follow up drop if Classic's control on the defense wasn't as strong as it was.
A bit late, but I think Classic's force fields have cost him the last game of the series. Looking back at the engagement where the stasis went off and trapped Maru's mines and scvs, Classic could have trapped even more units if he had not divided the army with his force fields just b4. It's a bit sad bc if he practiced a bit more in that "sOsy" scenario, he would have known what to do.
