Maru vs Gumiho should be very interesting. Based off of results Gumiho is second only to TY in TvT. Maru is just getting the benefit of the doubt and is probably just as good if not better. Still, I think Gumi has a lot more to fight for.
Maru 1-3 GuMiho Zest 2-3 Stats
Gumi is going to destroy Stats in the next round btw. It's going to be the first GSL TvT finals since 2011 :O

I hope these matches are better than day 1 was lol

Why isn't this listed under Upcoming Events?
Also, where do we find out the schedule for Neeb's next game and whether it was moved so he can still go to Montreal?

If Gumiho and Zest advance the ro4 would be such a clown fiesta, but that seems to be the theme of this GSL anyway.
Gumiho and Stats will advance. Final will be Stats vs TY with Stats winning.

Gumiho 3:1 Maru, Gumigod too good at TVT. Zest vs Stats should be close tho, dunno why the poll favors Stats so much.

People forget how good Zest is at PvP and Stats has been relatively dominant lately.

The guy who stomped sOs vs the guy who almost lost to Hurricane

Honestly, I wasn't. I still favored Rogue going in, but not by that much, because Neeb's PvZ is terrifying when he's having a good day. Honestly, if any protoss could beat Rogue, it was probably Neeb.

I'm kinda surprised Maru didn't proxy Gumiho thrice tbh.

It's like gumi knew but didn't do anything, he clicked exactly where the proxy was for his scv to go after building the first rax, but the scout was too late, also gumi mismicroed the first marine, he could've taken one reaper down, not sure if it would've mattered.

Good god, not only did Maru win a best of five series in 30 minutes, two of the games were macro games, and one of them was a game where he went opened Mech and turtled up to four bases.
If Maru wins this GSL, I think he'll have a pretty good claim to not only be the best SC2 player in the world, but to be the best SC2 player of all time.

You can tell Maru was really off with that cold today because he didn't have the macro to include +3/3 BCs with that push.

The good thing about Gumi losing is that it leaves some drama for the super tournament. Now a lot of players have a legitimate chance to play their way to Blizzcon.

Like, I remember back in early SC2 where every time someone one two games in a row, everyone would go IS HE THE NEXT ZERG BANJO?!, and I think it's worth seriously considering at this point. No one's ever been this dominant for this long.

Neeb vs Maru would be the best possible finals, at least in terms of storyline. Either Maru would achieve what no one's ever done before and ascend to the Greatest of All Time status, or Neeb pulls off the upset of the century and becomes the first non-Korean to win the main Korean tournament since Grr.

Innovation's came in a big body of work. Mvp was closer in that regard. Maru is making up for lost time with how hard he's dominating.

Maru vs. Serral Blizzcon finals Nah, Neeb will win both GSL and WCS Montreal. You heard it here first. I'm pretty sure that there's always someone who is the Greatest of All Time at any given moment. Sure there is. But has that someone won 3 consecutive GSLs in the highest skilled era? Innovation's came in a big body of work. Mvp was closer in that regard. Maru is making up for lost time with how hard he's dominating. This isn't the highest skilled era - many of the best players are either retired or are playing broodwar. or in jail T_T Stephano in trouble again? Wow, Stats and Rogue both KOed in ro8

Stats might have had a chance against Maru but I just can't see Zest taking on Maru. Congratz to him though.

Last time Zest made the ro8, ro4, and final in one year of GSL was 2014.

Maru another step closer to becoming GOAT.

Zest and TY confirmed for Blizzcon.
Last 2 spots are probably going to be Dark + Neeb if he wins GSL or whoever goes furthest in GSL ST of those in 8-14th place

If a foreigner wins IEM Katowice then they take the seed for IEM Katowice which then means that they only get to bring 7 seeds to Blizzcon. The only reason that hasn't happened is cuz Koreans won last year and this year by styling on foreigners

The only reason that hasn't happened is cuz Koreans won last year and this year by styling on foreigners yea, which means there are 8 foreigner seeds, 1 IEM Katowice seed, and only 7 "korean"/GSL seeds yeah but if a Foreigner won IEM Katowice, then it would be 8 korean seeds, 1 IEM Katowice and 7 WCS seeds also last year there were 9 koreans in Blizzcon cuz True is a korean and he plays in WCS Circuit. So the system is not rigged.

I do agree though that the system does need a rework in favor of the Koreans at this time, because foreigners should not be able to qualify through WCS Korea. However, I have no idea what that would be besides barring foreigners from the GSL altogether, which I don't think anyone wants.
I believe Rifkin brought this up on the Pylon show the other day, and suggested that Artosis get a Korean pro with a translator on the show to discuss the subject. I think that's a very good idea, and hope it happens, we don't get to hear Korean pros' thoughts on things much.

I suppose an idea could be to allow those who are not in WCS Korea qualifying position to play in WCS foreign open brackets, that could be interesting and would prevent a Maru or Stats from going over and smashing every foreigner except Serral, Neeb, Scarlett, and Reynor.

by the way, Neeb has more WCS points from GSL than all his WCS circuit events (independently)

So unless he places very high in Montreal, he would likely qualify from GSL if he won

I won't contest that he could certainly get to the finals of Montreal though.

The seeds are however. Right now he's rank 3 in WCS, and if he wins GSL he'd be rank 8 in korea.
So even if he wins GSL, he has to drop out of top 8 in WCS to qualify via a korean spot. Which doesn't look likely given his form right now.

I dunno whats with Rogue. He literally seems like 2 different players on his on and off days.
I was so happy when he thrashed his ro16 group. Seemed like the rogue that showed up vs Maru is back and here to stay. But alas he didnt look on point vs Neeb. Not taking any credit away from Neeb obviously.

Maru's overall execution was brutally on point tonight.
Man, that G3 on lost and found. My fav moments ~3 min Maru brazenly bullies his way up the ramp after delaying the cc, kills both reapers, the SCV building the starport, and gets out with two reapers after dealing the maximum damage to the remaining hellion. Going up a ramp vs. the same set of units 'shouldn't' be possible at that level right?
~6min two reapers jump into the main and stay alive for so long given how many units gumi had there.
~7min 3rd A single vanilla marine strolls up to the third that has just been placed and kills the scv, then another swaggers on up 30s later and almost does the same
~11:20 Gumiho attacks with a maxed 1/1 army bio army, Maru already has 2/2 mech, with stim and 1/1 for bio done. Are you kidding me?!
~13:20 Maru hits just as his 2/2 bio finishes, with 2/2/2/2 vs. 2/2/1.
That mech into bio transition... damn. Dear I say it, but Maru looking pretty bonjwa to be styling so hard on Gumiho that game. Gumi's TvT this year is nothing short of brilliant, his play on G1 was very strong IMO.
