Origins is a zerg campaign and prequel to StarCraft 1 played from the perspective of Senior Cerebrate Daggoth, the Overmind's right hand and greatest Cerebrate. It features a focus on accurate voice acting replicating the feel of StarCraft 1, high quality terrain, a new early Zerg tech tree, and expanding the other underdeveloped characters in the swarm. Fourteen missions are currently planned. Origins is currently in the alpha state and is an experimental campaign due to its lack of human characters and focus on environmental challenges over that of AI.
Gradius is the maker of Subjection (available on the Arcade), member of the Custom Campaign Initiative and one of the stewards of Mass Recall. You know this is going to be awesome!!
I played the first mission. You have a great concept going on here. I love it. Especially the fact that your story content has voice acting. That's amazing! There are a few problems with the first mission from a casual player's perspective however:
1. Your Zerg seem to love mindlessly marching off into the lava to die. There's a nasty spot where there's always lava right where units think is where they need to be going when they're traversing the map. Even when I plotted waypoints around that place, my units would still take a swim in the lava
2. It's not clear visually which areas are accessible to ground units and which aren't. I'd suggest adjusting the topography of that first map to make it easier to understand.
3. Needing to send Queens to complete the first mission got me into an unwinnable state when I used up all the resources on the map making a giant Zerg deathball to win. (which should be an OK thing to do on Casual difficulty) I think you should add an alternative win condition of destroying every enemy unit and structure on the map.
