yeah people here sure pay a ton for food ~
a really easy fast and tasty recipe which works with most meats (chicken/turkey works best imho)
chili & garlic "insert meat here"
- throw meat in pan and give it some color (dont cook it all the way yet) - remove meat, add good amount of chopped chillis ( kind and seeds yes/no depends on your tolerance to hot food,) - bit later add fine chopped garlic -before garlic turns brown deglaze with whitewine or just some stock. if you do it with the wine still add some stock for taste. - add some cream and put meat back in. - let it cook till sauce has a good consistency and meat is cooked through - taste, add salt, pepper, maybe chili powder, more stock (or that instant stuff if you dont have real one) etc
serve with whatever. rice, nice oven potatoes with rosemary, pasta, whatever kinda of vegetables you have at home, herb butter baguette etc etc
takes like 20 minutes max (if your sides dont take longer) and has a nice real spicy taste to it. also really works well with "dry" meats since stuff like chicken breast really soaks up the sauce.

me and my girlfriend probably spend like $300 a month for the both of us lol.

Ok good I was beginning to question my budget tracking abilities. I'm probably 3 hours away from where you live decaf haha.

Where at? I do all my shopping in the burbs because its way cheaper than the city ~~

lol I eat naturally raised meat though so that's a lot more expensive than Chinese food market meat. There's not a significant amount of difference in taste but the impact on my health is worth it imo. Not to mention I eat a lot more meat than the average guy haha

Eggs/bacon/potatoes/milk/meat/yogurt/veggies runs ~$40/week
Then I spend another $20 on things i can eat "fast" - frozen foods, canned food, etc. that I can eat in 5 minutes between classes and work or w/e.
Then I spend another $5-7, 4 days/week buying lunch, because I have no practical way to bring a lunch to eat during the day.
so I spend probably 60-80/week on food. Which isn't bad considering most of my friends will drop that in a single friday night at the bar.

i've dropped 100+ on a single night in the bar each of the last two weekends used to just spend ~20 a night because i'd go out multiple times now i just go out once a week and blow a fuck ton of money. sigh.

Northeast Indiana. Got all my groceries for $100 and that will probably last us two weeks, plus going out to eat once or twice during that time. I usually treat myself to a bottle of wine or case of beer once a month if that lol. Saves a lot of money
I've been looking at Chipotle (restaurant) recipes online and they seem very similar across all the meat options. I've done the barbacoa before and it was excellent and easy so I may try a carnitas/chicken in the next week or two and report back. If you can keep the same small ingredients and vary the meat might be a good cycle or something.

For ~600 bucks you could eat at chipotle 3 times a day for 30 days.......

20/day doesn't sound nearly as bad as 600/month for some reason lol

What the fuck are you drinking, expensive cognac? Admittedly where I drink is cheap but for me that's 132 pints of Heineken.

Last Friday: 4 rum and cokes, tequila shots, beers, and ten bear fights (car bomb followed by jager bomb)e... And 100$ was the discounted price because my buddy was bar ending lol

doubt you get a pint for under 1$ at a bar.
its not hard to drink cheap at home, if you go out its a different story. also beer is usually by far the cheapest stuff to get drunk. atleast over here its ~3€ / beer , 2-3€ /shot , ~5-10€ cocktail and 6€+++ for 2-4cl of good stuff .

i just buy a rail drink and bring my own flask of whiskey. about 6 or 7 times cheaper than drinking the same stuff at the bar. oh and also pregame. really, i don't have the money to drink out at bars. irish car bombs are around $12, JW black is $10, rail drinks are $3 during happy hour and $5 when not. this is in washington dc btw.

They give these tokens out randomly, and you can trade them for any of the 50p drinks, which include pints and cheap spirits.
I think some of you guys are drinking at pretty expensive places. There are some pubs and clubs near me that cost a lot more, but tends to be older people there. I think some places charge more on purpose to keep people under ~25 out.

In Canada pints are always 4$-6$, pitchers are 10-18$, shots are 4$, mixed drinks are 4$, and double mixed drinks are like 7$, usually unless crazy specials
They banned 2$ drinks around here because of the amount of huge drunken brawls that happened on 2$ drink nights, just before I turned legal! Sheit. Wish we had cheap liquor. Sooooooo taxed.

One of the bars that I go has some decent prices. I can get shots for ~$4-5, or patron for ~$7. Whiskey & Coke is about $5, and beer falls in their somewhere. All bombs are ~$10. Drinking is expensive.
Also wow.. I just looked how many calories are in beer and I was shocked. just under 400 a bottle for the stuff i like
