I started off about 4-5 weeks ago using the assisted pull-up machine with 70 lbs assistance. As of yesterday I have only managed to get to 55 lbs assistance. In most other categories I have seen some improvement just not in that. Are there some other exercises that I can do that will help my pull up improve a it quicker? Or am I just expecting improvement too quickly? For reference I am doing wide grip pull ups.

I think progress for pull-ups is slow compared to other lifts. Going up 15lb (you're lifting that much more) isn't that bad of progress for a month's time. Not sure about the wide grip pull ups but I would also think that is harder to progress on. Just my gut though. You can try adding eccentrics to your workout and see if that helps.

I just keep looking forward to the day that I can move from the assisted pull-ups to me strapping weights to myself.

I have no clue how to progress on chinups, but all my other lifts are progressing fine, so I don't care really. If you're going up in bodyweight, then same reps IS progressing. If you're cutting or at maintenance and you're still stalled, try adding two more sets or doing them an extra day (or more) every week.

I just need to be in a great day and be in the same mindset as I was when I pulled 515lbs... I am twice as strong right now. Then it's all about the mind and the fighting spirit. I could finally claim an official 3x BW deadlift. Good luck me! ^_^

5min warmup jog deadlift: 7x70lb, 5x 90lb, 2x5x100lb squat: 2x8x70lb, 2x8x80lb, 2x8x90lb bench: 2x7 40lb, 7x70lb, 3x6x90lb situps: 3x20 pullups: 5,4,4 i also decided to try doing some pistols halfway through my workout. i stretched out my arms forward, lifted up my left leg, and focused on leaning my upper body forward as i squatted down on my right left. got about 15 degrees away from 90 degrees and fell down backwards loool. tried again and fell on my butt again. then i went over and grabbed 2 10lb dumbbells to help me stabilize my weight. did 3 or 4 on each leg, and realized that pistols are really hard. gonna practice them next time on saturday!

I have 24 hour access to a chinup bar, so I can do them whenever. I have been thinking about doing 3xF twice a day, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not

I think I cam to the realization that I'm just not pushing myself in that area hard enough. I'll find out today I guess! I think thats a pretty common problem. when i do pullups, rep three and rep ten both feel the same - like i cant do another one. so if i stopped when i felt that way i would obviously be making no progress. Good luck, tell us how it goes!
