Will be really interesting to see how Seattle's secondary matches up with a team that can run it and spread them out. At the same time, is Green Bay's O-Line as improved as they hope it is? The Seahawks will definetly find out.
Hype!
No worries man I am going with a bud who will be decked out in GB colors haha

I'm so football starved I'd happily watch the Raiders vs the Jags if it were the opening game.

Why spend money when you can watch it for free. There's a thing called the internet not sure if you heard of it yet in Canada.

interestingly enough, Cam has been statistically better, or at least more dynamic, in the seasons he's won less games. the last two years, he combined for the same rushing TD total as his rookie year, and his passing yards have decreased each season. BUT last year he had a career high in TD passes and made the playoffs for the first time. Will he have to return to his one man show style of leading the offense, or will darkhorse additions like Kelvin Benjamin and Jerricho Cotchery make this a surprising offense? my prediction is that they'll have enough defense and Cam's skills will get them some unexpected wins, but getting back to 12-4 and a division crown is a reach. I'd say they'll finish around .500 and Ron Rivera will be on the hotseat by season's end.

QB's tend to do better when team loses more games, because they play from behind more meaning more risk for greater reward, junk time performance.
Conventional statistics esp just gross numbers favor more of a throw a ball ask if that was a good throw later approach. Statistics seems to approve of going on 4th down more and getting 2 point conversions more because over the long term it would result in more points. But more points doesn't mean win games. More points than the opposing team means win games.
Run first offensives get less plays meaning there is just less opportunity for large gross numbers, throw happy offensives give QB's larger numbers. One or the other doesn't really equate to more or less wins but one can easily equate to "better" numbers esp with the obsession with total yards and total TDs.

Hey guys (and gals),
Looking for some fantasy input. I just recently started watching the NFL (maybe 3-4 years ago when I was in New Orleans and watched the Saints beat the Jets). Been a fan since, and have attended Seahawks games and 49er games so far (family in SF). Still a Saints fan at heart.
Just started a keeper league with some friends (big time n00b). 10 person standard league, snake draft 2RB, 3WR 1 QB 1 TE 1 K 1 D / ST 2 Flex (WR RB TE) 5 Bench
We are snake draft, I got second overall (via fun 1v1 round robin dodgeball tournament). Would you ever pick Lacy over LeSean McCoy, AP or Jamaal? What mock draft programs do you use (free)?

I just joined my first fantasy football league as well.
edit: well I committed to one a friend does every year. I dont know the format/rules yet.

In a keeper league, I could see picking Lacy a bit higher than in a seasonal format, since he's a bit younger than the others. I've never been in a keeper format, so I'm definitely not an expert on the topic, but Charles and Shady McCoy are right in the prime of their careers, and you can get a few more good seasons out of both of them to be sure. AP is nearly 30 which is usually the end of the line for running backs. I'd say if you're planning on hanging onto a running back long term, then:
McCoy>Lacy/Charles>AP.
If you're looking for a single season back and keeping someone you pick later on, Peterson is probably the choice. Bear in mind that picking Lacy is banking on his potential, rather than picking a known commodity. Not saying he's chopped liver, but he only had 4 100+ yard games last year. 11 TDs makes up for that a bit, though...
|
I'd take McCoy/AD and then Charles and Lacy with significant room in between the three groups. Peterson gets his one way or another, and Lacy could easily bust. You're buying certainty with AD and Shady. Charles is another guy who has been significantly injured before.
I believe AD's a Terminator and will run forever. He's like Brady and Manning to me: I'm going to need to see a significant amount of data to say that they're not the best, and I haven't seen it with Peterson yet.

Thanks guys, what draft software do you utilize if any?
|
None (well, I suppose Excel). I've never done this before for football, but here's what I do for my fantasy baseball league which is also points based:
-Generate rankings that are position independent by determining how many players are played at each position each week. To do this, I figure out the "average" player at each position and subtract that player's number of points from each players to determine values for last season. For example, if you play 2 RBs in a 10 team league, you take the average of the 10th and 11th best RBs and subract from everyone. Repeat all positions. -Now you should have an idea of how valuable everyone was last year relative to their "replacement". This permits you to develop somewhat of a tier system. Note that if there's a bunch of QBs that generated 20 points above replacement but few RBs that did that, the RBs would probably be more valuable. -Once that's done, generate preseason rankings based on your new knowledge of your scoring system (and the inefficiencies involved in it).
REMEMBER THIS IF YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE ANYTHING FROM THIS POST: winning in fantasy sports (and real ones, for that matter) is all about manipulating knowledge better than your opponents. I've found there's a strong correlation in fantasy sports between preparation and success. If you know that your league favors QBs, then use that information and value them appropriately. Not everyone may have this information, which gives you an edge.

hey hawks fans, are you guys excited lynch is holding out? because christine michael is going to be the new rb! (for now) (saying that is a positive because im confident michael will become a 1st round rb in fantasy leagues once lynch goes)

Michael is sick good.. but Lynch is a 0 risk GOOD rb. You want both and you want the bruiser.. sad he is holding out but with the Seahawks front office I am really confident the best result possible will come out of it.

I'm frustrated that Lynch forced his way out of Buffalo, we really liked him at the time and he was a quality player. On the other hand, who knows if he would have straightened himself out with the law without Carroll.

Look forward to the season as always. I think every NFC division is going to be awesome to watch the teams fight at. Really hope Arizona builds off their momentum last year and them missing the playoffs makes them even more motivated.

I guess they're taking after their coach.
