Quite easy to promote him in Brazil where the sport seems to be the biggest.

Its the biggest in terms of fans but not in the same universe in terms of money. Imagine trying to promote Texeria in Macau compared to johhny MMA.

Yes but also imagine trying to sell teixeria for PPV lol!!! Jones is their only ppv star right now and ppv is the big $
Also Casuals dont know who teixeria is
Really looking forward to Luke fighting and the return of rumble
Keep in mind that Jim Miller was originally scheduled to fight Bobby Green, but with Green getting hurt, Medeiros stepped in when he was supposed to fight Joe Ellenberger, and Vagner Rocha stepped into fight Ellenberger with a week's notice.
Fun fact, Joe Ellenberger is the twin brother of Jake Ellenberger
Marketing any Brazilian not named Anderson Silva is really hard, imo. Aldo is doing alright because he's young and cocky and he'll have other young and cocky guys like Pettis to build his name with, but Teixeria, he's a lot like Fedor I think. Don't really hear him talk much, and when he does it's always really respectful. Come to think of it, I can't remember listening to an interview with Glover. How's his english? Most people hated Anderson because he refused to even attempt his broken english for so long. It's kind of like Koreans in SC2...it took someone like MC to really put on shows and performances to help a lot of those gamers start breaking out of their shell. They see MC speaking, hell singing, in terrible english and gain some confidence. Hopefully that happens with some of these young guys in the UFC who don't speak great english. But yeah, marketing the LHW division is WAY easier with just about anyone but Glover.
This should be a pretty good card, I think. I'm really excited to see Rumble back in the UFC. Would be so funny if he missed weight. Phil Davis sounds like his losing his mind, so I expect to see a dominating performance from him to back up all this talk about breaking people, and Bones backing out, and interim titles and shit.

If you don't want to watch the video, take my word for it: It's a lot better than Anderson's (but you'd have to be pretty bad at english to be worse than "I chained my family!", "My favorite happer is-", "I back, I back"). Anderson's english was always a bit of a mystery to me... So much time spent in a business that revolves around the english language, and so little improvement.
Anyway, I predicted Gustafsson was going to give Jones a run for his money, and I expect the same with Glover. But I think I'll be rooting for Jones just so we can see the dream rematch against Gustafsson.
Ahh yeah, Glover actually speaks really well. That ups his marketing a TON. Plus training at ATT is also big. Glover has the tools to be marketable, but the UFC doesn't want to build up a 34 year old Brazilian when you have a 26 year old American with 2 brothers in the NFL as your champion.
I actually like Bobby Green. I hope to see him fight again soon! I also like Tim Elliot minus the beard.
Predictions:
Jon Jones vs Teixeira: Nobody will know how to spell Teixeira's name even if he wins. The fight will likely go the distance with the decision going to Jon Jones. I also predict that one freak accident will happen at some point on this card, ruining one of the fights and making everyone flip a desk.
Davis vs Johnson: Davis is much more technical striker than Johnson. Johnson is one-punchesque in his approach, and I truly believe people will be surprised by how well Phil Davis' striking works out. Unless he gets KO'd. Then you won't. Also, if Johnson wins, Joe Rogan will definitely yell either "Anthony Johnson is back!" or "Anthony Johnson, welcome back to the UFC!" or a combination of both. Boetsch vs Rockhold: Boetsch will knock out Rockhold with a wheel kick to the head at 2:19 into the first round.

Dude, Joe Rogan will probably yell that if Rumble lands anything of note. "HE ROCKED HIM, FOLKS! RUMBLE IS BACK!" It's 100% that he starts post fight with something similar to that as well. We'll probably hear the phrase 3 or 4 times if Rumble wins. I think Rumble could win, too. Davis has been talking a lot lately, and it's been all about Jones and titles. If there was ever anyone looking past a fight it's Davis and this fight, I think. Also, he's been saying some crazy stuff. He's lost his mind.
If your Rockhold/Boetsch prediction comes true I will probably poop. My anticipation will be at an all time high come 2:18!

This card was just really hard for me to make any solid prediction. I think it's mainly a lack of homework on my part, but also because the match-making is getting more complicated. They put people on loss streaks against each other, and people with win streaks against each other a lot. Sometimes, people's mentality goes down the drain after a tough loss, or they get KO'd all the time after their first time being KO'd. Still loss-streak matches are easier to predict if you can figure out why they've been losing and why their opponent has been losing. Win streaks are just ugh. Especially if the opponents are "weak". Some people will disagree with me, but I think Mark Munos and Damian Maia are low-tier in terms of skill, so when Chris Weidman beat them, it didn't convince me that he could beat Anderson Silva. Now, some people will say that Silva basically gave the first fight away for free, but Weidman did a lot of right things in my opinion, like pressuring Silva, going for submissions, using distance well, good head movement, and good punching - he actually landed more punches on Anderson Silva than he received.
As far as Teixeira goes, I don't think he's a bad fighter, but he beat Ryan Bader to get the title shot, and Bader wasn't even in the top 10. I have more thoughts on this, but my brain is kind of turned to mush because I should be sleeping right now.
rumble... from 170 to 205... I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw this card, I thought "What, Phil Davis dropped down?" and then NOPE, 205. How the f*ck did Rumbe ever cut to 170?

Glover got rocked by Bader... he lost all cred when that happened LOL. ----
The UFC 172 countdowns are up if the OP wants to update original post!
Yup, sorry, I even watched the Countdown show as soon as they were up on YouTube. Just completely forgot to put them in the OP.
Yeah, if there's one flyweight I'm hoping does well, it's Tim Elliott. The guy was fed to the wolves as soon as he came into the UFC, fighting John Dodson in his very first fight, and ate some pretty solid shots. Of course, he was coming off of a vicious KO win over Jens Pulver, but that was when Pulver was falling downhill like Chuck Liddell. (Also, fuck Pulver.)
Everyone agree with Ali Bagautinov getting a title shot against Demetrious Johnson? Actually, is there anyone left to fight Mighty Mouse?
Also, another thing to note is that there was once a time when Boestch was counted out of a fight from the very start, and in that fight, after being dominated for two rounds, came back to win in one of the most dramatic comebacks of UFC history...
Don't count Boestch out yet from his fight with Rockhold, he's the definition of a scrappy blue collar fighter.
I would love to see Bagautinov against Mighty Mouse. I would also like to see Tim Elliott get a title shot sometime. I also like John Dodson, so I hope he does well. I like Ian McCall's mustache and striking.
