Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'neal, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutumbo, Rik Smits, Brad Daugherty, Vlade Divac.. Virtually every team had at least a decent center, and most had capable back ups. Now you have Cousins, Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol, 38 year old Tim Duncan if you consider him a center instead of a power forward, Tyson Chandler, Andrew Bogut, Al Jefferson... Still Cousins is likely to put up huge numbers tonight vs Rockets with Dwight out again.

I'm just guessing that centre's being the anchor of your defense and the expectation for them to bully/ brawl in the post took precedence over the need of post skills. Big, strong guys in the post. At least now we are starting to see a re-resurgence in post play and an emphasis on big men that can shoot and pass. Also maybe the fears of drafting another Bynum, Oden, Thabeet. On a side note with Hornets and Nets struggling early on the pacers somehow find themselves in 8th. East and West are a mess but for different reasons.

He might actually become a decent baller after all. Problem with Lin is he's incapable of having a good game if he doesn't start off well. If he starts off aggressive/strong, he can have good games... if he does not, he will have a terrible game. That's a really bad way to be. As bad as it is watching Kobe shoot 35 times, Lin needs to always be on top of his game and be ready whenever the passes come and not check out of the game/let his lack of involvement get the better of him. He's playing for a new contract and that type of slack/inconsistent play isn't going to get him paid, regardless of how much you may want to blame Kobe's ball-stopping ways this year.

In October, Butler said he was betting on himself in turning down an extension offer from the Bulls, a move that now looks to have been quite intelligent. The Bulls are said to have offered a four-year deal worth more than $40 million, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, but Butler could very well have himself in the discussion for a max deal as a restricted free agent this summer. http://www.thescore.com/nba/news/643502
