They are tough but still not as bad as this. Overall the UFC has a really good quality of refeering, most of the bouts are handled pretty well - minus with ref Mario Yamasaki. I complain about Dean but he stands out in a crowd of excellent referees for a few mistakes, that's how good they all are, including him.
But I litterally watched Fight Night Moscow not 2 weeks ago, and now the match with Conor, I didn't have time to forget between those two.
its possible Dean knows which side his bread is buttered on. McG is the UFC's cash cow. So McG probably gets away with a bunch of BS no one else does. Pulling shorts , hooking gloves... McG fought really dirty i thought. It also looks like McG threw the 1st punch in the post match melee.
The various post match videos will get dissected frame by frame like they are the zapruder film as each side tries to blame the other.
the thing about point deduction is, correct me if Im wrong, but the ref has to stop the fight before he deducts points, right? And every time mcgregor cheated, it was while khabib had a superior position. Can the ref deduct points between rounds? Because after like the 5th rulebreak, I think it'd be perfectly reasonable to deduct a point. Just to show Connor that rules aren't a joke.

Official rules states when there's a foul the referee must stop the fight. He can't just deduct points in between the rounds. Dean was of course right not to do that, but a few more warnings to Conor would definitively have been in order.
Yeah, usually the referee gives warnings without stopping the fight, then stops it for a more pronounced warning if needed - usually to warn the guy there will be a point deducted if it continues. The fight needs to be stopped for a point to be deducted, but it doesn't have to last more than 10-15 seconds.
My impression of the post-match punch Conor threw was that he saw the dude coming at him after Khabib already jumped the fence, dude looked pretty aggro, I thought the other guy started his swing at him first, and Conor hit him with a punch before the other guy's fist could reach him. Might just be me though :p
Definitely a bad look for the UFC, yet also great for the drama lolol. They prob have to b careful since McGregor makes them so much money, and if he comes back into another L, it's probably donezo for him.
Comier vs the Black Beast is now the main event in NYC UFC 230. I doubt Lewis has much of a shot with low training camp and his cardio. But who knows, guy knows how to take punishment and finish.
Derrick Lewis can't fight.. his testicles are still over-heated from his previous fight.

that very well could be... the night it happened one of the analysts said we're going to get a zapruder-esque frame-by-frame analysis of this thing filmed by various amateurs recording the fight to prove whose fault it is. if that happens .. no matter whose fault it ends up being... it becomes rather banal at that point.
Sucks for Lewis, to be given only one month to prepare, even less than that. But I guess it's the only possibility for Cormier to allow him to prepare properly for a Brock Lesnar fight at the end of his suspension. Not the greatest card either.
He failed another one? Because he was just finishing his old one. Turns out, when you leave the UFC, your suspension is being frozen, that's why he still has to wait a few more months. I'd say the change was made for Jon Jones next ban.
It was changed because junior dos santos and who ever else got busted with him were found actually innocent, not just not or less guilty. So they didnt want guys like that with the stain of the failed test.
This feels like a 90s pro wrestling angle. Khabib just needs to shave his head and call himself "Stone Cold". This is amazing build up for the rematch.
i subscribe to the perspective provided by Tim&Sid. "Dana, stop acting like you are not happy with the circus"
Jones Vs Gus ufc 232! Now lets hope Gus can stay healthy and Jones can pass his drug tests, hoping he won't do drugs is too much of a stretch. Lets just hope he passes.
I think it is believable. I have not read how many fights it is for but say it is 8 fights and pays him 1.25 mil per. I don't think that is crazy. There is quite a few fighters who make more then that per fight in the UFC with PPV bonuses. He kept saying partnered, so I'm guessing he is getting back end.
