Be careful what you wish for! Watching old, washed up and out-of-shape atheltes is not always pretty. Some times, memories are much better than the present.
i have no desire to see the champions of my era compete any longer. Seeing SlowJ out there on Sunday night only solidified my position lol. If they have to fight, old legend matches like the one mentioned in the thread might be some what interesting, I just don't want to see old dudes look like shit vs the next generation lol.
I wouldn't mind seeing GSP coming back since his legacy is pretty much cemented anyways. But hes not signed with WME so who knows if that will ever happen lol.

and what's worse is "power" never goes or is the last thing to go. so you'll have guys who still have the power they used to have with bad chins. 2 glass cannons fighting each other is not a formula for entertaining fights.

Big boxing fan here , and you are wrong , the different boxing orgs all have the same fighters pool (more or less as some orgs are stronger at Japan and some are stronger in Mexico for example ) but overall they all use the same fighters to generate the biggest money they can per fight , UFC does NOT share their fighters so it is a valid comparison , the biggest thing that is making the UFC such a better product is the matchmaking , boxing fans (i will know) are suffering from today matchmaking , example at hand : Canelo vs GGG should have been made ages ago , Frampton vs Rigo , Brook vs Thurman and the list goes on and on , in today landscape having 1 belt that everyone wants is better then the dozens of crappy belts going around which once a guy takes it he sits on it and try to maxmize his winning while avoiding other world champs saying he is already the champ, Example : Billy joe saunders the MW "champion". The #1 selling point for me watching UFC is the matchmaking which makes a lot of fights competitive which for me in a sport is the most important aspect a sport when i know the winners in 80% of the fights is boring.

seeing as UFC is not sharing then we'd need to include every belt by every MMA org to get an apples to apples comparison.

yep, and when the UFC puts Lesnar into a fight knowing he is on steroids it hurts the product and makes it more like boxing.
the UFC is still way better than boxing. However, its recent moves in matchmaking and new belt creation are boxing-like moves. The sorts of moves that facilitated the decline of Boxing. In this aspect i pretty much subscribe to Chuck Mindenhall's perspective on the UFC's recent moves.
The UFC did a much better job bringing the 115 lb belt into existence. Their recent belt creation moves with the 145 lb belt were poor. Holm and whatsherface are still ranked 135 lb fighters.

The post you are replying too is a well written post about exactly why you don't need compare every MMA org for the closest comparison.
Great to see Masvidal get a big win, guy is a warrior. I'd love to see him vs Matt Brown or Lawler
I don't see any way that White and the Fertittas would have NOT let Lesnar go and fight on that card. In the middle of their 4-billion dollar negotiation and what was supposed to be the biggest PPV until that day? Having to cancel that fight would have been something they did not want to deal with after already having the Bones Jones thing. They wanted to get the most money they could, then would deal with the consequences later.
Which is why I don't think Lesnar is a great example. It was allowed during a time which may not really be representative of what they are trying to do in the future or their new philosophy or w/e. But there have definitely been some head-scratching moves recently and regardless of the reasons, that was one of them.
Also, I'm sure all the fighters that received points on the PPV, were happy Lesner was there cause it made them a bunch of $$$$ (except for Hunt who is pretty damn choked, understandably since I think his last 4 have all failed drug tests.)

put in this context the reasoning behind making sure Lesnar fights is a perfect example of short term money-making being made a higher priority over the sport.

its Dana who keeps talking about boxing and making the comparison... he's inviting it. keep making useless belts with almost no one competing for them and you devalue the UFC belt.

Again your retort makes 0 sense in relation to the above two posts. But I'm sure you could take this on a magical circle to nowhere so I'll stop.
the post is fine. you should stop though. good move. the off topic attacks posts are getting tiresome.
let's pay attention to outcomes: Everyone on FOX was way off on how the Shevchenko//Pena fight would go. Stann was the only commentator giving her credit for her grappling and submissions before the fight started and at the very start of the fight. Good job by brian stann and i hope the UFC/FOX people keep giving him higher profile assignments.
I've been reading this guy lately on UFC, He has created a exciting fight metric. Which is kinda hokie sounding but I tend to agree with how his scoring ranks fights. so I think he may have found something.
McG acknowledged he will pay the Las Vegas $150,000 fine. believes the UFC intentionally had no 2nd belt at NYC. shits all over the 2 featherweight titles and claims he'll defend the Featherweight title. claims he is walking around at about 160 lbs and says he can easily make weight for a Featherweight title fight; says Aldo will pull out of any fight with him. McG says he will KO the 2 guys fighting for the interim lightweight title.
McG would prefer the UFC be involved in a Mayweather fight. However, "if they let people go fight Jiu Jitsu tournaments they can't stop me going to fight a boxing fight"
McG says a Mayweather fight is a billion dollar fight; Fight by the end of this year or early next year; "my fist is bigger than his head" ; "southpaws have caused him a hell of a lot of trouble" ; "we'll fight with 8 ounce or 10 ounce gloves"
Ariel lists all the problems with the UFC, but Conor won't bite on how much the UFC might "need" a Mayweather fight. Ariel keeps taking indirect and direct shots at Ronda. Conor explained how he reconciled with his head coach after the UFC 196 loss.
McG turned down the new Predator Movie because it was too long; McG said negotiations are ongoing for March 2018 Wrestlemania with WWE; McG squelches Game of Thrones rumours.
McG open to a Manny Pacquiao fight; claims a Mayweather fight will draw at least 4 million buys; announces his child is a boy. Strong possibility Mcg Promotions puts on fights in 2017.
John Kavanaugh is a genius Calmness is overlooked in its importance in a fight.
