I mean look at the history of these backups that show glimpse's they always turn into stars.
Charlie Whitehurst
Matt Cassel
Matt FLynn
Brock Lobster
I'm sure there are more superstar backups that through trade or signing worked out incredibly well and show that the move shellshock speaks of is exactly what Was will and should do. Also who is a massive free agent name they can vastly overpay to win another offseason?
Scot McCloughan is supposed to save us from Dan Snyder

LOL
Well you can always know at least your owner is better then James Dolan of the Knicks!

I think he deserves to get paid because he has proven himself as a highly capable player for that organization. Plus he's a known quantity, which can't really be said about the other options. Is he gonna be really expensive? Yeah, but that's the reality of the quarterback market and if I was a Washington fan I would trust Kirk Cousins to be my starting quarterback.

I mean Matt Cassel had the best year of his career with the chiefs lol. Jimmy G looked far better than the Lobster ever did, and is unlikely to wind up on a team where the head coach didn't want him and the offensive scheme was a awful fit for him (then again Browns).

Give him 13% of the cap now on a long term deal where the guaranteed money is front loaded and the deal gets better over time (with the cap theoretically rising) and it's cheaper than the repeated tags. Or tag and trade him because someone will pay him that.

The mere fact that the Pats are apparently willing to let Jimmy G go despite Brady closing in on 40 makes me very nervous for any team that wants to trade for Jimmy G. I think the Redskins would be idiots to get rid of Cousins. I think that it is unlikely that Jimmy G turns out to be as good as Cousins, and even less likely that he surpasses Cousin. As a Niners fan, as much as I don't like the idea of the Niners trading for Cousins, I'm not sure that I like any more this talk and speculation that the Niners may target Trubisky in the draft.

The Pats think Brady has 3+ years left. Someone would pay Jimmy G starter money in free agency, the Pats wouldn't pay him that as a back up, thus they want to trade him/.

Have you read about Brady's regime? That dude is a health freak. He has 3 years minimum left. And you better believe that BB and Kraft will do whatever it takes to protect him and keep him in the game. Expect him to be sitting a lot more in games in the coming years when the lead is large enough. The defense is going to get better and younger as well.

If you think he is "highly capable" probably worth it. If you think he's Matt Ryan, go for it. If you think he's Joe Flacco or Andy D, well, look at how that's turned out. Obviously no one can be as bad as Brock, whether you think the Skins should pay Captain Kirk depends on whether you think he is a good QB or a decent QB and what his cap hit is going to be.

I don't know what 13% of the cap is. But IMO Kirk is reasonable at $18 per year in cap, thus any more and you are getting negative value from the position, any less and you are getting positive value.

Vince young signed new representation for a comeback. Ditch cousins sign him and get manziel to back up! And your set

Kirk Cousins represents the opposite of the allure of potential. He's the quarterback you don't really want but are too afraid to end up with a shit qb.
|
I totally agree with Clutz, Cousins is what he is. He is a top 15 QB with say a plus or minus 5 variance. If you can pay him as such and build enough talent around him you can have a winner. if you pay him top 5 money he will never have the talent around him to succeed.
This is why Was is so freaking dumb. They could have signed him to a contract like this last year or 2 years ago with a lot of the money non guaranteed. Now Cousins has all the leverage and they have a sophies choice. We either overpay the shit out of him or lose him for nothing.

When you get Leigh Steinberg to represent you these are the amazing stealth bargaining moves that happen.

Leveraging interest from the "Saskatchewan Roughriders" ( whatever the fuck that is .. oh its a CFL team ) against the rest of the many dozens of NFL teams that are redesigning their offenses around the possibility of signing the much coveted Vince Young.

Liberty University is the next school to announce their move to FBS for football. They got a waiver to compete as an independent. They arent even a good FCS team. this will probably be a disaster
they said they are independent by choice but it's more likely no conference wanted to be affiliated with them

So reddit did a mock draft where they took the highest voted up player on every subreddit after 24 hours. turned out with some interesting picks https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/5ufgnt/subreddit_mock_draft/
notably Deshaun Watson 3rd QB off the board at 25 2 WRs in top 5
Patrick Mahomes 1st round QB. reddit loves him. /r/cfb was all over him knob for the Heisman

Brady/patriots are reportedly looking into renegotiating his contract. Currently he is 12th highest paid qb, anyone else think he ends up lower than that if they do renegotiate? Guy has been building a brand for a while now and keeping his team together/competitive builds that brand more. Sell more of those $200 cookbooks and #199 under armor shirts.
How much would that piss off the other qbs?
