Hopefully Messi can win an international tournament
|
If he even gets to play it, that is.
|
i would not count this one as a tournament at all, its not the real copa america and the hype over here is pretty dead overall
sure people will see it, celebrate and cry but the overall feeling is that "is just not the real deal"
|
At least the US will have to take this one seriously.
|
I can see this tournament failing horribly, especially if the US are eliminated early. And The draw could hardly have been worse for them. Hopefully the attendance will be decent.

Mexico is easily the biggest crowd draw here.

With latin teams, do you mean the other conmebol members? Here in germany, "Lateinamerika" usually refers to the entire americas except for canada and usa (in a strict sense also jamaica, trinidad etc, but I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference); so it would be pretty much impossible that no latin american team will reach the final. And I hope the USA do well, if only mainly because of Klinsmann, as he was basically my childhood hero.

Yeah Latin America excludes the primarily non romance language speaking Caribbean nations, which I guess in this tournament is just Jamaica. But either way yea it would be hard for the final to be without one if not two Latin American teams.
You're totally right about the every 4 years thing too. I guess I was thinking of the Gold Cup which still happens every 2 years rather than every 4

Having the likes of Paraguay and Bolivia in that poll but not Mexico triggered me so hard

Haha sorry, i always forget Mexico and they will probably do well here too. However other it is :D

Go Argentina =D I wonder if people there care about this Copa America? It's a special edition and we already had one last year... Anyway, I hope Messi can finally add a national trophy to his collection but it's not starting well. He can't play the first game and it's against Chile!
|
Andre Blake goes beast mode, saving several shots a game getting Jamaica to the finals before being sold in the summer for an extravagant value but leading Philadelphia to a drop down the table
Although I'd actually consider this tournament a success if: a.) USA wins it b.) USA gets eliminated in group stage and Jurgen gets fired.

In the US people do, but not as much South America. Argentina definitely wants to win something though. Brazil doesn't care at all with the Olympics. Neymar is resting for the Olympics rather than playing this Copa.
