Ian Rush drops Madrid paper with the left hand and picks it up with the right hand. Not calling anything because this is obviously no proof, just having a little fun So why can't they use a rotating drum exactly? They use it for the lottery everywhere. This way of doing things, plus Blatter openly saying they used to put those balls on the fridge to create the groupgs they wanted for the Euros is shady and just creates controversy.

Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi both players I'm not that familiar are apparently in London either in talks or having medicals. Nothing is final. edi: also I'm back from deepest darkest Henan and so glad the football seasons under way.

Mustafi is a must for them, Per is way to old and Holding isn't ready yet. Would sure them up abit, even if Mustafi isn't really world class, he is still a lot better than Holding and Mertersacker (due to age etcetc)

-The UEFA Europa League winners will automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage (currently they can potentially take part in a play-off round). -The top four clubs from the four top-ranked national associations will now qualify automatically for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. -The full details of the access list for both competitions will be finalised by the end of the year. -A new system for the club coefficients: clubs will be judged on their own records (deletion of the country share for individual club coefficient unless that coefficient is lower than 20% of the association's coefficient). -Historical success in the competition will also be acknowledged in coefficient calculation (points for previous European titles with a weighted system for UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League titles) -Financial distribution to clubs will be increased significantly for both competitions. -A new four-pillar financial distribution system (starting fee, performance in the competition, individual club coefficient and market pool) will see sporting performances better rewarded, while market pool share will decrease. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2398899.html So while it is not going to be Spain, Germany, England and Italy for "historic merit" straight up it will likely still end up that way. Unless they change the bonus point structure it will be almost impossible for anyone else to crack the top four.

So big clubs will get a lot more money than small clubs, just what we needed in CL o.o

Cause they drew relatively weak teams (that apparently didn't play too well either), but it's just part of the whole deal. If they had drawn a club like Porto they might not even have made it. The goal of the Champions League once was to have the champions of European nations play each other, now it's just some bullshit rich club league, where most champions don't even qualify and clubs that are not champion and already have a shit ton of money are qualified (and thus get even more) without even having to play a single match. Maybe they should just make it a 4 team league with Real, Barca, Bayern and a qualifier for the fourth team. Not like other clubs have much chance of winning it anyway. And clubs like Arsenal should never be allowed to qualify again, after all they lost 5-1 to Barca last year over 2 matches, a 4!!!!!!! goal difference, ridiculous a club like that can make it past the group stage. Anyway, I don't think this is a positive development for football as a whole at all. Some fans of the clubs that are included might think it's good, but I personally think the interest for the champions league and football in general will decline in most European countries as a result. In other parts of the world (read: Asia) they might think it's great (and it will generate more income as a result), but i think the UEFA should have European football's interest at heart instead of just hard cash. It's pretty clear that's currently not the case.

The Champions League system is fine, maybe they could just do the top 2 from each league i don't know but the system they have is fine at the moment but the way you get into the tournament with the qualifiers is badly done.

I'm enjoying the Joe Hart saga. I'm sure somewhere will take him in. But he doesn't look to far from signing on right now. I am imagining him at the job centre in full goal keeper get up trying to explain his skills and what kind of club he would like to work for.

I have nothing wrong with that but that means the likes of Barca or Real Madrid will miss out on that competition every season! Why can't there be a league of teams that won their national league? That wouldn't be too hard I think. And why would both Barca and Real have to play in this league, I think that a year or 2 without one of them would make it even more fun to watch when they finally do qualify again. The current system where we pretty much see the same teams always getting far is pretty boring as well imo. And yes, it would be boring for Germany to always see Bayern, but its still much better than the current situation where some countries don't even get to see their champion at all. And let's not forget that it will take a miracle for teams that are not from the big 3-4 leagues to ever still win the champions league. Instead of trying to fix that, UEFA seems to be going in the opposite direction and that's a shame imo.

Unfortunately it just means that every time the clubs want to negotiate they'll get even more, until the super league arrives so we can finally jerk each other off to messi vs ronaldo 38 times a season and forget about national leagues and non-mega clubs. Sigh.
