Now I'm not sure it's good news... If Barça qualifies, that means 2 more games. 33% chance tough (Vigo), 33% chance super tough (Atletico), and just 33% ez (Alaves). And then after that PSG In D10S, we trust.

I wasn't aware that Pablo Aimar played for Barcelona. Good that Real was eliminated and with a terrible game from the Flop Danilo. In other news. Benfica's 20 year old Gonçalo Guedes is confirmed in PSG for 30M€ plus a % of a future sale in case it's a value above 30M.

I think the 40 game undefeated streak gave him enough buffer that he can afford to take a small slump. The real (heh) test is whether they can recover now. Any more fumbles and it's starting to threaten La Liga and UCL. Would be quite amusing if Sevilla somehow took the league title. Shouldn't happen, but then again it's still much smaller of a miracle than what happened in England last season.

But yeah he will be jobless if he doesn't deliver the La Liga title at least now i think.

It happened with Atleti too when they won la liga, so I'm not so sceptical like before.

It just me personally i have never looked at Real Madrid in the last 12-18 months of "the streak" and saw a team that was breathtaking and looked solid and unbeatable. Was quite the opposite i thought, leaking goals all the time and scraping by with goals here and there was intriguing. Especially after the Wolfsburg humiliation i thought well....However they then went unbeaten and stats are stats whether i agree with them or not. But yeah he will be jobless if he doesn't deliver the La Liga title at least now i think. Yeah. I completely agree. I don't think Real has looked that spectacular or untouchable, but it's pretty hard to argue with the results. To me, the real test of character comes exactly in situations like this. In almost anything in life you can do your own thing and if the stars align right, you'll break through big time. The difficult bit comes when the natural approach stops working and you need to figure out how to adjust and change. Seems like Zidane's managerial career has one of those moments ahead right now.

Yeah, it's finally a test for him, even if they go on winning the CL and the liga I would not say it tells much about Zidane's talent as a coach. He started football manager with some cheats enabled.

I think Madrid, Ajax and Munich all did it in the 60s/70s, and maybe one of the Milan teams too). That alone should say something about him. I'm no fan of Madrid, but results speak. Not that I think RM is going to win the CL this year, but of the "usual" contenders, they are the most solid looking.

It was not that unusual to have team winning back to back the Champions League back in the day. The way i see it was because Football wasn't like an open market back then, and when you had a great team you would stay would that team throughout a generation. Since I have a serious sickness with Benfica and i can't stop talking about it, you can take as an example the Benfica team in the 60s where we went to 5 finals in 8 years. below the teams that won back to back Milan 88/89 and 89/90 Nottingham Forest 78/79 and 79/80 Liverpool 76/77 and 77/78 Bayern Munich 73/74 74/75 and 75/76 Ajax 70/71 71/72 and 72/73 Internazionale 63/64 and 64/65 Benfica 60/61 and 61/62 Real Madrid 5 in a row from 55/56 to 59/60

http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/7021833/5ab5a804 Nice example of how it can work to the benefit of the game, however 3 gripes. - that initial call looks really bad - takes almost a minute until the referee signals for review, that could surely be faster - this one is so obvious on the replay that it should have been called without ref looking at it himself

Spurs fluke a 4-3 win which is annoying! Rafa losing 3-0 to Oxford united of league 1. Lincoln city beat championship leaders 3-1 after being 1-0 down, they are from league 2. Some big upsets there and some lesser teams in the hat for a big draw against a prem side hopefully.
