Portugal is on a roll, moralized by the Euro and Eurovision. It's in the bag.
|
lol @people voting Germany.
Germany will probably send the B-team of the U21. Supposedly resting are: Jérôme Boateng, Toni Kroos, Mesut Özil, Thomas Müller, Sami Khedira, Mats Hummels, Benedikt Höwedes Injured are: Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gündogan, Julian Weigl, Mario Götze
Marco Reus already mentioned that he doesn't want to play either.
And with the U21-Euro running in parallel this will most likely be given priority for all those who can play there.
|
I hope Germany sends the best squad possible and that all their players go very far in champion's league next year.
Let's be honest, this cup worth nothing and it's just better to rest the players before a world cup season. 2002 French squad was geat but all the players were exhausted, it was a way better squad than the 2006's one. I wish our players did not play this useless cup in 2001.

Russia will take this, because of the super secret hidden training camp the last months, vodka (moral up), whip (punishment for mistake) and soccer (skills up).
|
Team Germany:
GK: Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen), Marc-André ter Stegen (FC Barcelona), Kevin Trapp (Paris St. Germain)
Defenders: Matthias Ginter (Borussia Dortmund), Jonas Hector (1. FC Köln), Benjamin Henrichs (Bayer Leverkusen), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern München), Shkodran Mustafi (FC Arsenal), Marvin Plattenhardt (Hertha BSC), Antonio Rüdiger (AS Rom), Niklas Süle (1899 Hoffenheim)
Midfielders/Forwards: Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen), Emre Can (FC Liverpool), Kerem Demirbay (1899 Hoffenheim), Diego Demme (RB Leipzig), Julian Draxler (Paris St. Germain), Leon Goretzka (Schalke 04), Sebastian Rudy (1899 Hoffenheim), Leroy Sané (Manchester City), Lars Stindl (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Sandro Wagner (1899 Hoffenheim), Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Amin Younes (Ajax Amsterdam)
That looks better than what I expected. They grabbed a fair number of players who could have played U21 instead. In fact the U21 looks kinda gutted :/

This might be an underwhelming edition (and possibly the last one according to some rumours). No really truly great teams competing. Or it might be a great tournament with all teams (except for new zealand) being on roughly equal level.

Well that's disappointing from Germany.
|
Amusing fact: Kerem Demirbay was not only presented by Germany for their national team today. Also Turkey announced their national team for their summer games and he was also listed there.
Both federations and national coaches Löw and Terim claimed that Demirbay guaranteed them to play for them. There also exists a letter by him, asking the FIFA to be allowed to play for Turkey (as he had already games in the German U21, which generally makes him uneligable for any other nations) as this would mean so much for him to play for his home country. But the really latest statements by him suggests that he again wants to play for Germany now because he grew up here and totally identifies with Germany.

Mexico put all their scrubs in against New Zealand and are losing at halftime lol

That could be like 4+ red cards in mexico new zealand if you count every punch on its own.
Lets how the video ref feels about this. :DDDDDDDDDDDDD
Well that was anticlimactic

Well that was anticlimactic haha for real. theres a brawl. lets review. nah just 3 yellows Like i was watching the live broadcast IN CHILE and saw a mexican dude hitting 2 NZ players
And you are going to tell me the var dudes with 5000 cameras didn't saw it or decided that it was just a yellow ? Fuck this shit, if you are going to kill football at least make it it's for the better.

Mustafi with a horrible pass. But I think we can almost be lucky Chile scored, becase he might as well have been sent off for the tackle afterwards instead, 5 minutes into the match.

1-1 vs Chile, a very good result imho. Our team showed its potential while the surely apparent problems might simply be fixed by more gaining experience.

Germany drawing vs chile haha

To be quite honest C or D is kinda disrespectful for those german players, this is pretty much a B teamç
and in B germany is pretty much A in any other country
|
I don't think Akinfeev will ever top his mistake against South Korea in 2014, but his mistake in Mexico's 2nd goal was pretty bad.
|
Well, the second halves are shaping up for quite a bit of excitement, in particular chile vs australia. We are having our worst game so far, even though cameroons player having shown quite a bit of frustration.
WTF the video refs makes the wrong guy get red carded. At least the refs has another look and finally gets the correct player.
|
Oh boy what a clown show in Germany-Cameroon with the VAR. Well it's kinda also the main ref's fault but still.
|
yeah, not really sure how that can happen.
|
Ooph what an error by Ter Stegen
These referees are really something else

Well. I'm starting to feel very optimistic about the future of our national team.

I hate you guys.

The only thing I didn't like was the anti-VAR propaganda, including the ignored penalty that wasn't called for Australia against Germany, the unexistent offside that could have made Russia score against Portugal. The unexistent foul that disallowed a legit Cameroon goal against Chile. Then I stopped watching after that group stage.

It's not like France had to worry about that at all in this thread's Confederations Cup (and most other editions too) though. Lmao.

Imo Chile would beat the Germany "A" squad that played the Euros right now. Or it would be as tight as it was in this final here. But you can never tell, they beat Mexico 7-0 last year yet struggled against "easier" teams later.
