BASKETBALL'S BACK!!! And that means, MORE TL FANTASY!!! This is the first season I'll be running a TL Fantasy Basketball league here but I currently run football (which entered its 10th year) and the former commissioner of hockey (its last year, the 10th, ended with the 2015-2016 season). Here's to another great season. If interested, send me a PM. Returners get first priority. This will be a rotisserie league. You can read more about it here. ESPN has a new overview as well here. For waivers, free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) will be utilized; read about it below.

What is fantasy sports?
You draft good players from different teams and you manage them. Simple enough? Well it probably isn't so I will explain a little more in depth.
YEAH! One of my players got a lot of points!
Different players play on different days. If a player gets a triple double on Tuesday but you left him on the bench on that day. I would call you an idiot. Why? You wouldn't get the stats for that player!
So what do I do?
Everyday the players who are playing need to NOT be on the bench. You can see the rosters above. Those positions MUST be filled by the respective category. A PF Pos must be filled by a player of yours who actually plays (and is listed) as PF - a SF cannot be put into this spot. There are 2 utility spots. So say you have 3 SF playing one night. Dang it, you only have 2 SF spots available each night. AHHH! But 2 utility spots are available! You can put one of the SF in the utility spots.
What's FAAB?
What is FAAB? It stands for free-agent acquisition budget, a stash of imaginary cash that every team in your league is given to do free-agent auction bidding. (Look at that! Two acronyms for the price of one! What a bargain!) Simply put, FAAB is an in-season salary cap that covers all your free-agent needs.
No longer will you have to scramble to your computer to beat out your chief rival to that hot prospect who finally gets the call on a random Thursday night in mid-July. Under FAAB, all waiver-wire moves are processed in batches, one or more times a week, depending on how frequently your league wants free agents to be claimed. If you want to put in a claim for a player, you submit a "sealed bid" (and in this case, you do so through the league's Web site). When the deadline for bids passes, the owner who bid the most on a particular free agent gets him, and the amount of the bid will be subtracted from that owner's remaining budget.
FAAB not only is a far more equitable system -- a team that needs to make several waiver claims because of multiple injuries during a week can actually do so -- but also offers far more in the way of strategy. Knowing when to spend your limited budget while simultaneously trying to feel out your fellow owners as to how much of a bid is "too much" makes for a much more rewarding fantasy experience than waking up in the morning, hearing your star first baseman is out for the year and discovering all of the top free agents at the position have already been snatched up while you slept.
Note: Sometimes you will have very few players playing one day and nearly your whole team playing another. This happens. You will have to muster up your amazing manager skills to decide who gets benched and who gets to play. (Sometimes you might make the wrong call and a benched player has an awesome night.)
What is a roto league?
If your league uses rotisserie scoring, you are literally playing against everyone in your league at the same time. This is different than head-to-head scoring. (Where you have a single opponent each week and keep standings based on wins and losses against your different weekly opponents.)
- With rotisserie scoring, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories.
- Each fantasy team receives points in each category based on how they rank in the league.
- Each team's category points are totaled to determine their overall rotisserie score.
The draft is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 15th @ 19:00 EST. The season begins Tuesday, October 17th. The draft day/time can change.
Settings/categories/rosters are all subject to change.
