WARNING: THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN STORY SPOILERS NOT IN SPOILER TAGS
Personally I enjoyed the HotS campaign, and will likely find myself wanting to play it every now and then. However, as has been discussed in the other thread, the HotS campaign is fairly easy, even on brutal. Previously in WoL we did challenge runs to get some fun out of it. In the same vein as those I've compiled a short list of possible challenge runs.
Kerrigan only run - No units are allowed to be built, but you are allowed to upgrade kerrigan and use evolutions. This one sounds like a lot of fun, I see being able to do this on normal and possibly hard. It would take some serious skills to do it on brutal though, if it's even possible.
Kerrigan and Zerglings only - The same as the above challenge but allowing drones and zerglings. This should make brutal do-able, especially with allowing evolutions
Kerrigan and Queens only - The same as the above, but only drones and swarm queens allowed, giving more anti-air viability if it
Kerrigan and queens/zerglings - If the above 2 prove too difficult on their own, allow zerglings and queens
No Upgrade Run - No kerrigan abilities chosen, no evolutions. I think it forces you to have 2 or 3 of kerrigan's abilities by default, so this would limit you to never choose anything in new tiers. Shouldn't be too hard on brutal with some good macro
NUR can be added to any of the unit combos to make them very difficult, as compared to WoL, the evolutions and kerrigan's abilities are extremely powerful.
I think the one I'm gonna try first will be Brutal kerrigan + zerglings + queens allowing upgrades, to see how difficult it is before trying my hand at some of the others.
If anyone has any additional ideas please post them here.
I'd been hoping to wait for the HotS single player forums to be created, but figured I'd copy this thread over to there if needed once it is created.
Here's a link to my WoL challenge run if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShiladieSC/videos

What would the contingency be for the Ultralisk mission for Kerrigan only? Zerglings?
I don't think most of these would be too hard, other than Kerrigan only on brutal (which I'm not sure is possible given the Battlecruiser mission onward).

Despite the fact that Brutal in hots is easier than it is in WoL, Zerglings with queens are not enough especially for the last three missions with hellbats and hellions, i know that's the point of this challenge, but Zergling/Queen only is almost impossible for the last level of the game.

I'm trying to remember that mission, what's the situation you're thinking of that will have problems? In each of these, you're allowed to use the units the map gives you for free.
You'd be surprised how strong a properly built kerrigan can be. I've got some strategies in mind, though I won't give them away until i try them out.

A properly built Kerrigan can do almost anything. But seeing as she's locked the entire mission, I felt the need to ask what the alternative strats would need to be.

OH, that mission! yea I'd say to just use the other hero you're given in her stead. It would definitely be a challenging mission to say the least. Spines and spores + stukov 'could' be enough if done right... The other mission that would have some difficulty would be the swarm host mission. but again it will be fun to try!

I think the baneling mission may be rough on brutal too. Stukov taking on Protoss and 2 Hybrid by himself may be a bit of a shit show lol.

Yea, I'm thinking you'll need to build drones + spines for that one at the least.

I mean I guess for the Kerrigan only missions it doesn't really make a difference.

hmm only queens sounds pretty easy, they are a bit OP in HotS campaign. Used them in Great numbers especially at the start, before Kerrigan started to solo everything. And thats where my thought process came from. No Kerrigan no Evolutions. It was pretty fun and challenging for me.

Lol this is actually interesting. I played most of the cmpaign on brutal with only ling support, but some missions you actually need more anti air or stuff to tank damage. But you might just pull it off with patience and planning and good micro.
Maybe worth a try :D

I think drones + spines will need to be allowed for a decent number of them to be honest, because otherwise you'll need to be running back to your base with kerrigan every time it's attacked.
