Hey guys,
Having some issues watching any of Day[9]'s videos on day9tv.blip.tv. I can watch any other videos on the site except the ones uploaded by Day[9]. I did some steps that blip.tv said to do if having issues watching videos and nothing seems to help. If anyone has any ideas on why I cannot view any of his videos it would be appreciated. Oh, I can watch the vids fine on my PC its just my laptop that has the issues.
Thanks!

I think this thread should be stickied

First of all, great matches and casting by Day[9]. He's not only a great commentator, but he's great at picking out good examples of games with interesting insights. I love his work.
Secondly, I'm in China for a month, and I've been unable to access the livestream nor the blip.tv page. Does anybody know of a place where the videos/streams are posted that aren't blocked by the Great Firewall of China? (and/or a workaround)

<3 the casts, very nice, so excited to finally play this game SO CLOSE...!

I tried to watch 5/30 Europe vs Asia TheLittleOne vs Sen Game 5, but it just links to Game 4. I searched the blip tv archive and I don't think a Game 5 exists. Plz fix.

I think TLO won this somethink like 3-1, so there's only 4 game. D9 put a link to a "game 5" so there's no spoil.

The digs at Artosis are childish. Day[9] would be more convincing in his constant refrain of 'use greater mobility against mech' if he actually showed replays of games where...
a) The Zerg actually wins the game.
b) The map is a 1v1 map and not a four player map like Metropolis or Kulas Ravine.
The definition of imbalance is when both players are evenly skilled and the imbalanced side constantly wins. If I said the planetcracker from the Mothership is not imbalanced (remember that?) because you need to 'take advantage of the Mothership's immobility' or 'kill the Protoss before the mothership is made' or put up 'strat videos' of unrealistic situations where the mothership can easily be sniped off, you are actually admitting there is imbalance since the players must be of equal skill. If a player must be extremely more skilled than his opponent to beat a strategy, it is imbalanced. If a player can beat a strategy only because the opponent screws up, it is imbalanced.
When Blizzard fixes the issue, all will be well. But what most concerns me is some people talking down to top Zerg players as if they don't know know how to play their own race.

Do you still do BW games ever? If so, I request game 3 of day 2 of CJ vs SKT @ proleague playoffs + Show Spoiler [players] +Effort vs Hyuk @ Judgement Day

Indeed. Thanks bro!

No, i'm not trolling, this is constructive criticism textwall im making.
Anyone else thinks that after 100th episode day9daily has been getting progressively more stale and... dare i say, boring? The only recent episode that really got my interest was the one with QXC because it brought in some fresh thoughts.
i feel like 90% of the show consists of recycled ideas and thoughts he already made a bunch of times, and whenever he pauses the game and starts talking i cannot help but to skip it because i already know the point that hes about to make (i watch vods)
Furthermore, even in a the run of a single show, especially in the ones examining someones build i feel like hes dragging it by putting in those previously mentioned thoughts so he has something to go on until he reaches the important bit, and often times that actual point hes trying to make doesn't happen in the replay because he hasn't watched it before the show.
Yes i know that he recently stated in one of hes dailies that he think that few people watch all of his dailies+commentaries, thats his excuse for repeating himself. IMO he should do it less, or avoid doing it in dailies extensively.
But i think the ideal solution would be to radically change the format of the show and make it a weekly show instead of daily. The show wouldn't be live but prepared in advance, edited and presented to us in a nice juicy package of information. 1 hour long weekly show would do just fine.
And yes i know that it would take more of day9's time to prepare this thing, but with such a huge of a following he could easily get some help, a whole team even.
the pros and cons i see: pros: *Would be more enjoyable to watch and would require less time to feed our hunger for starcraft analysis, what pros do etc. *Would look more professional, might get him sponsors. That way his hard work would be finally rewarded by money. *Would be a step into right direction on becoming the e-sports ambassador, if he was serious about it in #100. *People with less free time might start to watch it instead of spending that time on playing sc. *Might keep the interest of those individuals that would get bored from the show in its current format.
Cons: *The analysis wont be as thorough but i think most of us don't need it to be chewed and served to us on a silver plate, just give us food for thought and we will digest and process it ourselves. *The above con might chase off the more casual crowd, unless the shows topic of that week is aimed at that public. *As mentioned, more time and effort would be needed from day9 *Presenting and explaining the in and outs of the matter at hand in as few sentences as possible is a useful skill toi have, i don't know if day9 is capable of it. But lets not forget that the show wouldn't be live anymore so that might help. *There is always going to be a group of people that are against the change, even if its going to turn out as a positive one.
Final thoughts: I know under what circumstances this whole daily started, he had only 1 free hour per day, and instead of playing bw he decided to do dailies and share his wisdom and knowledge - an admirable choice. Doesn't mean it has to stay this way forever. I'm not saying that the show is going to loose its popularity if it continues to stay as it is, with the coming release of the game i think it's going to be quite the opposite. But that doesn't mean it can't be even better. Finally, you can always try it and go back to the current format.
note: i am going away for a week in less than an hour and i wont be able to check up on your replies until i get back, i will make a duplicate of this post as a blog entry because i have a feeling that it wont get enough views if i post it here. Its not for attention, i just want enough people to read this because i put some effort into writing this - english is not my native language.

I think the feeling of staleness comes from two sources - one, the Beta was down for a while, so the replays were old, and two, the level of SC2 knowledge and play is much weaker than SC1.

Both of these things crossed my mind, but to me the show was getting the way i described it before the beta went down. As for sc2 being not as deep i still think its too early to say, if it turns out to be true the analysis show can always become a "weekly highlights" one... yet that would be lame and someone else could do it fine. Like husky with hd, those 2 lack analytical skills but have that cheesy show thing trait >_>

Actually its 3AM CET (GMT+1) and 4AM CEST (GMT+2). Not all european countires have summertime so this difference is important. Greets to morrow

Wouldn't the issues you mention be resolved by simply someone volunteer to do a weekly edit of the day9 dailies and day9 just remain the awesomeness he has been?
