More and more and more interviews for you, huzzah.
-Day[9]. Sean and I talk and talk about the supposed skill ceilings in StarCraft 2, Blizzard's heavy hand in e-sports and how his mother got him to his first WCG.
-Here, have a beta diary from your friendly neighborhood CharlieMurphy and another diary from Whiplash.
I added the Inka interview late last week and many of you may have missed it. Inka disagrees with Sean on many, many major points about StarCraft 2. It's interesting to put the two up next to each other and compare the impressions.
Within the next day or two, I will be posting an profile and interview of Team Liquid founder and Middle-earth beauty pageant winner, Liquid`Nazgul.
Note: Sorry about the site breaking. It should not break from a text interview ever again. However, the Day[9] is audio and I do have my fears. If something happens, let me know and we can have a good cry together as I try to get the site back up as soon as possible.
I'm honored to be in these ongoing interviews you've been doing, but why is mine called a diary? (and why isn't everyone's names in the title this time T_T)
PS- I've been putting my dream somewhat into action today, blings/dropped and fungal spore is ridiculous ZvT just ask milikitov haha

the format i followed with you was different, thats all. an interview is a full profile, a beta diary is totally focused on the game.
everyone's name isn't in the title cause i pressed enter too quickly ._. if you look, you can see the comma, just waiting for more names.. :[

oh yeah, i'm totally copying this american life. i love that show :D thanks!
This is a pretty bad interview IMO. Badly edited. Random clips of music that are pointless. Dont get me wrong, i was very interested with what sean had to say, but the interviewer needs to practice more and plan out the interview better.

yeah, heh, i sort of agree. i'm usually writing it all out, this is the first audio interview i've ever done- i was trying to emulate this american life but i definitely didn't nail it. live and learn though. thanks for the feedback.
I totally agree with Sean Plott’s interview. (Which means I totally love it.)
I certainly agree with his confidence in blizzard. Because as far as I’m concerned they’ve never made a bad game, and they generally know what they’re doing. (WoW wasn’t the greatest but as far as mmorpgs go, it was pretty darn good.)
So I’m just sitting back and watching what blizzard will do, because I haven’t seen any super big flaws, even in beta. Just a few sound effect/visibility issues, that honestly doesn’t effect the game that much. It would just (in my opinion) make the game slightly better if they fixed these perceived issues. (But again if they don’t, then I’m pretty confident that they must’ve had a pretty good reason for it. And pfff, what do I know anyways?)
And of course, I’ve never liked kespa. I wont go into any reasons because I feel as though I’m straying slightly off topic, and most mentions of kespa seem to deteriorate into arguments, so no one bother to start one up, yeah?
Oh, and thanks for the interviews, good stuff. It felt a teensy bit clunky, but all the same, I thought the music interjections and stuff was pretty sweet. It’s good to get some variety, rather then the same old, same old, interview format.
Thanks heaps for the interview, but I have to agree that the music seemed out of place and largely without purpose. Usually that's a time where there is some sort of graphic shown (which is not applicable in an audio interview )
To what Brett and and Roulette36 said about the music seeming out of place and the interview being poorly edited I disagree. It sounded to me like a take at producing an NPR like interview (I thought this before reading your above comment) and you did it well. I've done audio interviews as well and know how much of a pain in the ass they can be at times. Keep it up and keep experimenting.
Lol Day[9] sounds like a Blizzard rep. Little less ridiculous optimism wouldn't hurt.
Also the bunnies and flowers idea that Blizzard wants centralized control to "make things better for the players" lol. Yeah I'm sure money doesn't play ANY role at all in this.
But seriously Day[9] sounds like he's looking for a job...
This is awesome. I love the tidbits of info, and the music interludes. The only thing Id say is get a better mic and maybe an anti-pop thing to mute the p a bit Keep up the great job!

Thanks for all the interviews you've done btw. I hate a lot of the answers you get but your work is much appreciated
hey, tell me what you hate! i can always ask follow ups.
Its not really anything you can do. Its just everyone is so zealous about Sc2, lol :S. There was only 1 guy who admitted he didn't like the game but switched over for money.
Kinda like if theres a new kid at school that you dislike but everyone else loves him to death and ur like wtf why. That's my best analogy, haha. (I'm that one kid asking y ppl like Sc2 so much...personally I don't see anything special)
i thought the audio interludes were great, very much appreciated the style and presentation of the interview. Content was great too, though i'd recommend making more follow-up questions rather than just moving on to the next topic (maybe you did and they were edited out, unsure).
Sean loves to talk and his excitement about the game and gaming in general just carries itself.
the interview itself was great. Questions were good, Day9 was wonderful as usual. As for the presentation - I thought it was quiiiite a bit pretentious sounding. I think I will give you a pass since anyone who started doing what they loved found inspiration and drew from something familiar. but I literally felt like I was listening to Ira Glass at the beginning. I don't think anyone can really pull off what he does, the way he does it, so maybe try not to imitate so much and do your own thing. The level of professionalism was great, but I was literally cringing at the start. I think it's just my own personal experience with this american life, lol.
also easy on the radiohead? haha, one song from each artist is fine for musical interludes. I liked the Kid Cudi at the end. Mix it up if you're going to use music breaks. Anyway good job, compelling interview, keep up good work but be sure to develop your own style.

haha yeah, this is part of why i didn't nail it. i totally took an ira glass tone - which is unnatural for me - and only ira can speak that way and not sound like a douche. i definitely have to develop my own voice and step back from the NPR for a moment.

if this is your first audio interview, then well done. I'm sure i couldnt have done better. just work on knowing wether the person being interviewed is done talking or not (problem for all interviewers). I found some awkward interruptions to be the most annoying. everything else is all minor. keep em coming
