No reason why you cant switch over to a mumble client as well It has much better latency and cool features like ingame overlays (can see who is talking), create temporary channels that delete when all users log off, etc. And most importantly, it's easier to manage from an admin point of view. I believe it also has better compatibility across all platforms/OS's. no one uses that though, everytime i want someone to come on theyre gonna need to install it.

As for mumble, I don't know the benefits, but if you changed over I would go and have my friends get it too. Thanks from RoLClub USA.

If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Apoplexy Industries hosts mumble servers for about $1 for every 5 slots per month and apparently occasionally give 5 slots for free (the guy that runs AI gaming told me when I was playing TF2 with him). My TF2 team rents a 40 slot and we've never had any issues with it; AI's support is notorious among FPS gamers for being great. Just letting you know since you were interested in looking for a host. Mumble is a great piece of software and really is better than Vent in more ways than I can mention.

I am looking into alternatives like mumble and teamspeak 3, mainly due to being able to effectively admin a server with this many users. However, for its simplicity and widespread use, ventrilo seems like the best choice for now. Also, I'm sure someone will eventually release some kind of workaround or patch to resolved the windows 7 issues. R1CH, being the wizard he is, actually solved the main issue of dealing with vent spammers, so for the near future, I don't think I'll switch. I may setup a smaller TS3 server (<50 slots) to test stuff out with sometime this month... once it's up, I'll let you guys know.

Super low latency alternatives like mumble is almost a must for fps teams, but I dont think its as critical to a userbase like tl.net. Need something that is both user friendly to setup/use, and easy to manage... mumble seems lacking in that respect compared to ts3 or even ventrilo.
