There was a post awhile ago about this sort of thing and the different rounte your packets would take to america. there are two exits out of australia to get to america. The one from sydney goes directly to america, while out of perth goes up through europe. correct me if im alittle off please. that is the basic jist. my basic latency to america is about 280 or so (in HoN) and i dont lag much except for a few rare spikes. The change defualt latency to 125 would make it almost impossible for you to play. as soon as you have any lost packets you WILL lag. you can only get that sort of latency within australia, maybe. australian internet is SO far behind europe, american and the majorty or asia. only option is to play on the asia servers, i would think.
hahaha i do play on the asian server and i have terrible lag! rofl i was hoping the usa server would be better! crap crap so is this going to be it for sc2 for aussie players? if it is i dont see many aus player lasting long term because its pretty much impossble to play atm

If you want to be sure it was a memory leak and not network isssues just check your System monitor (Sorry I use Linux mainly and I think that is what it is called in Windows). If your Ram is almost all used up then it is a memory leak.

I'm from Australia and i have NONE of these issues,
the only annoying thing about sc2 for me is the delay in controls, which is about 200-250 it is still playable, if your having issues like those, i would suggest replacing your network card or testing it on a different machine in the same house just to make sure its not something non net related, also, it could be that some1 else is raping the bandwidth speed causing it to clog for a second or 2.

I've started having a lot of problems today after my computer restarted itself last night for windows update stuff (just some security updates). I'm using an amd 64 x2 2.10 GHz cpu, 4gb ram, windows 7 64bit, nvidia 8600gt, and I'm running the game on lowest possible settings on lowest resolution. I'm getting 90-110 fps, mostly staying around 100, and I've tried using my mifi from verizon to see if that helped but the same thing happens. The lag is pretty much unbearable and during some battles it lags for up to 5-6 seconds.
It's better now but I'm still getting a lot of lag. My ram looks ok while I'm playing.

Watch a replay of one of the game's were you experienced the lag - your fps will drop from 100 to like 3fps during battles. The 8600gt is only slightly better than the minimum requirement (6600gt) for sc2 - yes the card runs the game, and yes it lags like hell during battles. Buy a new card, or complain to blizzard and hope they implement an ultra-low graphics setting option - lol.

I've had this happen a few times myself playing from the US, and what I experienced defiantly felt like a memory leak. I'd played a handful of games and was about 10mins into another one when everything got super choppy and unplayable. I would try rebooting every few games like Day[9] suggested in his cast a few days ago.

I've played about 1k games fine before today though. I did try resetting my computer twice and relaunching sc 3 times. There's def something dif about today that makes it choppy.

I have had this happen, but I am on a mac and the client still has some issues. Aside from the game crashing, sometimes the game runs very slowly like you are describing. I have tried everything and found out that rebooting the computer is the best way (at least in my case) to fix this. I know my computer can handle the game, so I dont know why this is happening, but hopefully this will go away in a patch or after the game is released. Remember it is still in beta.

only read the first guys post but i had the same issue for sc2 and wc3 on my new gaming comp and fixed it 5 min ago dling WLAN optimizer which stops your computer for scanning for wireless internets or something every minute it only happened for me on this comp with a usb network adapter and my laptops never had the issue so hopefully this fixes for you offtopic has any1 else experienced people getting different races than the loadscreen says or spore crawlers being invisible duirng building

I'm playing from Australia and get lag spikes like those mentioned in the OP only very occasionally. I'm using battleping which improves my input lag (delay between issuing a command and it happening) significantly. Give it a try and see if it helps.

i had same problem the past week or so i reinstalled the game and it seems to have fixed it
