You would not believe the cries Ten million Korean guys Lit up the world in five countdown beeps When Jae Dong goes 3-hatch lair And Bi Su goes 1-gate sair You'd think me rude, But lately I just don't care
I'd like to make myself believe That StarCraft One dies slowly. It's hard to say that I'd rather play A game that's not as deep Is StarCraft Two as easy as it seems?
Cause I'd fix a thousand bugs Give Idra a thousand hugs But Blizzard keeps giving noobs a chance No more mm micro spreads, One big control group instead, Did you read that angry team liquid thread?
I'd like to make myself believe That StarCraft One dies slowly. It's hard to say that I'd rather play A game that's not as deep Is StarCraft Two as easy as it seems? (Should I make the leap?)
I heard that mutas now can't stack? (Please take me away from here.) Lings auto surround when they attack. (Please take me away from here.) Why are roaches so fucking cheap? (Please take me away from here.) Even noobs can macro in their sleep!
Ten million Korean pros From Yo Hwan to Young Ho I got misty eyes as they said farewell. But I'll know where several are Like those with sense of star Cause I saved some reps, And I keep them in a RAR.
I'd like to make myself believe That StarCraft One dies slowly. It's hard to say that I'd rather play A game that's not as deep Is StarCraft Two as easy as it seems? (I should make the leap)
I'd like to make myself believe That StarCraft Two grows quickly. I hope this game won't fade away And lives for ten long years Because by then we'll have StarCraft Three
You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
Cause they fill the open air And leave teardrops everywhere You'd think me rude, but I Would just stand and stare.
I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly. It's hard to say that I'd Rather stay awake when I'm asleep, Cause everything is never as it seems.
Cause I'd get a thousand hugs From ten thousand lightening bugs As they tried to teach me how to dance. A foxtrot above my head, A sock-hop beneath my bed, The disco ball is just hanging by a thread.
I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly. It's hard to say that I'd Rather stay awake when I'm asleep, Cause everything is never as it seems. (When I fall asleep.)
Leave my door open just a crack. (Please take me away from here.) Cause I feel like such an insomniac. (Please take me away from here.) Why do I tire of counting sheep? (Please take me away from here.) When I'm far too tired to fall asleep
To ten million fireflies. I'm weird, cause I hate goodbyes I got misty eyes as they said farewell. But I'll know where several are If my dreams get real bizarre Cause I saved a few, And I keep them in a jar.

The singing was not the best, the lyrics, however, were awesome. I am quite new to the Starcraft scene (and by 'scene' I mean the professional part), my interest in it came when Starcraft 2 started getting talked about alot last year, so I don't feel the same way as most people here on TL about Starcraft. Still, I can see how big a transition it is for you, going from Starcraft one to the second.

Awesome song imo =]
I like his voice, there are just 2-3 parts that are blatantly out of tune. I don't think it should be redone by someone else who is better at singing - instead, the OP should redo it himself with a little more attention to tone and all that jazz.

Idra reference was great. Good job with subtle things like using the key rhyming words like "bugs" and such from the original song. Funny shit.
Mh my equipment is not that horrible, recorded it with a RODE NT1-A I have no real recording/producing skills though

I think the critics mean the "distorted" parts. The original song has these parts and its nice to try to emulate it, but they just don't sound as good. It sounded great if you recorded the entire thing in the way you did the first verse.
Cool song though. I really liked the DTs on top song too by those other guys.
hey, you want to PM me with a link to the source files? I can see if I can fix it up (hopefully the quality is good enough) to sound all autotuned legit if you want (or no one else wants to). You can sound just as good as he does (obviously, he does the same thing... computers fix everything).

It shouldn't offend you. I'm just saying someone like Nick Pitera should sing it :D! So don't feel offended :-)! I still see the great effort behind it
Edit: Yup, thats no fake, he's singing both, male and female part to perfection.

It's saying it's unavailable. And is the source an MP3, not a Wave (and one file? I was assuming you had a back track and a vocal track that were separated).

well, before recording I actually thought "you're not gonna be able to make it sound the same so just do your own thing" (plus I don't really like autotune) and I figured that a Lo-Fi preamp (-> distortion) would be an interesting choice. Bold = errors, big and small Italics = parts with great execution, intonation, etc.
You would not believe thecries - should be same tone as "be-" in "believe" Ten million Korean guys Lit up the world in five countdown beeps - semitone low When Jae Dong goes* 3-hatch lair** And Bi Su goes 1-gate sair You'd think me rude, But lately I just don't care - semitone low

* high notes, so its okay. ** here is a case where it's good that you end the phrase quickly, since it's the end of the verse
Ten million Korean pros From Yo Hwan to Young Ho - good execution I got misty eyes as they said farewell. - your tone dropped too low, probably to hit "eyes" But I'll know where several are Like those with sense of star Cause I saved some reps, And I keep them in a RAR.

- Most of the spots where you lose your intonation are places with large jumps in notes, so it's understandable. For example, each time you have to go up and hit "I'd" in the chorus, (kind of hard to explain) instead of one exact note you shift/slide up until you think you have the correct note. This can be used for good effect (sair / care in the first verse), but can also sound bad. - I don't exactly like whatever sound effect you used for 2nd and last verses. - Overall, pretty good execution. It's hard to catch intonation errors by oneself.
Anyone who thinks this guy has no talent is dumb, it's just not really a good style for the song imo. When you did the U2 parody, that fit a LOT better.
Great song, fun lyrics, and an overall grand effort. My only fear is that people don't actually think like that way about SC2, at least, they will give it a shot before saying it's a noob-fest.

Haha this song is pretty hard, there are alot of unusual jumps - I doubt I could sing it much better (if at all) myself.
but why does there have to be that one random curse word in there that just doesn't have to be? i really want to, but now i can't link that to everyone i know
I have to agree, the singing is awful. Maybe it's just that his vocal style CAN'T cope with this style of vocals but it was really bad. Creative lyrics though.

I for one think that distorted part is one of the greatest elements of the song =) Perfectly fits song progression, when music kinda falls back to the background and gets very simplistic. You added a lot of emphasis on that by also moving your vocal to the background with this effect. Love it.
And I'm absolutely sure that missing semi-tons some times has absolutely nothing to do with some people don't appreciating your singing. That's rather cause you don't articulate enough throughout whole song and sound kinda sleepy ;P

I didn't say that it's awful =D Personally I think It kind of fits music since it's dreamy by itself, but I'm sure those who bash his singing and his "style" refer mainly to this property (and that his voice dies a bit before finishing most sentences) especially since original has much more enthusiastic vocal =]

Awesome job buddy. I admit I was skeptical at first, I rarely enjoy these song 'parodies' or lyrics changed to games or whatever, but this one was oddly soothing and the lyrics were great. Perhaps it helps that I enjoyed the original song and the background music, but still, great job.
I'm not a big fan of the vocals because it seems very laid back (not the tone quality, but the attitude, e.g. lack of support, pitch problems). There are also some parts of the song where the audio starts to clip. Props on the NT1-A!

Just download the karaoke mp3 in the op, then download any recording software, like Audacity or Reaper, both are free. The latter one's better imo, and it says on the homepage that it's not free, but in reality it is.
