I created a batch of new micro maps. The video below showcases a few of them. The goal of the maps is to isolate a fairly realistic/possible real game scenario within each map. Each should be applicable to a scenario that is probable to happen in a real game given that you're using the unit in question.
The full list - Banshee vs. marine Hellion vs. speedling marauder vs. roach marauder vs. hydra marauder vs. early p units marine/marauder vs. baneling reaper vs. early tier practice tank range by using a viking to spot

To play the maps -Open the map in the galaxy editor -Make sure you set game speed to faster under file -> preferences -> gamespeed -Click test map in the top right hand corner
Type the following at any time to do the following.
-2 Increases the number of units spawned -3 Increases the number of units spawned - stacks with -2 -stim Enables stims -shield Enables shields -speed Enables ling/roach/baneling speed -rspeed Enables reaper speed -range Enables hydra range -conc Enables concussive shells
Each command can also be used with the -n prefix to turn it off. For example, -nstim disables stim packs.
The rest should be fairly self explanatory.
Please leave/pm comments/suggestions etc...
*** Feel free to edit & modify the maps as you please. I have little intention to return and continue to modify these.
Really good that you put hotkey and everything but having to get every single map instead of just 1 big is not good...
I would suggest that you put either a menu at start to choose a certain "map" or put them all in one gigantic map a little bit like project micro (another thred on TL)
But overall your maps and settings are really good... keep up and you'll become a ref
Due to RL constraints I chose to create these maps in the simplest way possible. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to add a menu that turns on/off certain triggers. That would allow them to all be meshed into one.
Consider this an alpha build for now.
As far as other races go I currently have no plans to make a set for p/z but that could change depending on circumstance.
wow this thing really helps. i already found out you can kill an infinite amount of marines with 1 banshee if you micro it correctly (i got 4 down with 0 damage once) its extremely hard though because you have to shoot at exactly the right range or the marines will hit you before you can scoot back. usually i can only get around 10.

I bet that many many people would appreciate that :p
Although reapers are more effective if you focus attack the closest unit rather than a-move.
Banshees are really effective in TvT, for the reason shown in the vid. Had pretty good success with getting the first banshee out really fast and sniping off marines and scvs. People just never know to build enough marines.
Scan range abuse vs tanks is pretty cool, haven't noticed that before. Nice.
if anyone can make this for zerg, that would be sweet. if anyone wants to make their own sits for practice, unit tester makes it pretty easy. but thanks anyways, qxc, I'm gonna be using this to start my work on terran
very nice. to make it even better training, play it online using the cache replacement method. Learning to micro in a 0 latency environment is not as effective.
QXC or somebody else, can you give a detailed description of how you are microing in each of the scenarios above? For instance, what/where are you clicking with your mouse, and what keys you are pressing? Thanks.

good stuff qxc, but what are the chances of putting in a macro aspect to the maps? like you have to manage 2 bases, while buidling units from rax's/facts/ports. that would make these maps even better if you do it

what is this method? how do we simulate bnet latency? I'd really appreciate it if you elaborated on that one.
Also, let's use this thread about some advices on microing units. For example - I find that with hellions if they are spread out a bit they hit a bit more lings at a time (more use of splash dmg) but they don't kill them as much. Also, my hellions die faster that way (partly due to lings sometimes attacking separate hellions). On the other hand - if they are bunched together they hit less lings but they kill them and it's actually better because when the first lings die there is some more space for maneuvering. I try to line them up by making lots of corners but it's important to pay attention which hellion exactly are they attacking.
hm : ) maybe it will be better if we made a thread with videos demonstrating different micro techniques? that would be pretty cool.
Its kinda senseless to try to micro roaches Vs marauder for example. Same if there are enough hellions even as a micro god they are the hard counter.
Imo better would be unit mixes. Like Sling/bling vs MM. Roach/Sling Vs Rauder/hellions. Maybe even Roach/Infestor vs MM for even more micro. That way you really have to micro the Bling into the marines while Slings attack marauders and as terran you havs to split them up etc.
hi, there is a bug in the kill count, using the func "kill" to clear units on Respawn actually triggers the "score" func. use Remove istead of Kill, to avoid this.
why are u using a svc to count the kills istead of a variable?
i'm learning using the editor and i ll try to look into and modify stuffs. pls let us know if u update the map and add stuff

I am so pissed off at blizzard with regards to the zerg race.
Have you seen Dimagas zergling micro? When surrounding a zealot, he always removes the zergling that will die in the next attack from the zealot, so it recharges.
Also, there is alot of mutamicro. To avoid splash damage you must attack a thor from all sides of it, which requires alot of micro to do right.
Also the infestor needs good micro, and even has a few tricks that can make it use NP while burrowed.
Sorry to revive an old thread. I would like to play this map or a similar one in the current version of SC2 to practice micro. Is there such a thing live now ? If no, can we try to upload this one ?
I'm specifically thinking about hellion and banshee micro training.

qxc, thanks for making this map. I've been practicing for about an hour tonight but I can't get any of the commands to work. Anyone else experiencing this? Would the latest update have broken this?
You need to update the files to allow stim to work. Presumably due to the patch that gave stim a new icon, the ability -stim activates is no longer functional. Go into the triggers editor (the gears icon) and change the -stim and -nstim triggers to enable/disable the new and improved stimpack.
