I find it better to just select one at a time(and pick the ones without minerals), as the 2nd and 3rd gas miner will have to wait anyway, and that time could be used to mine that one extra mineral. this! If you pull 3 right away the second and third workers are idle. The third worker is idle for about 3-4seconds(havent testet it). I always pick the ones without minerals and try to time it correctly so I literally have no waitingtime on my gas.
You would do all three at once if you're too busy handling a fragile situation to spare 1-2 seconds sending workers to mine gas (harassing with reapers, etc.).
In these types of situations, I've always just sent the first three workers that I saw so that I could go back to harassing as quickly as possible. This is a great tip - I'll be sure to use it. Thanks.

awesome i usually just wind up clicking on the nexus and waiting till they all get done this will help alot i think.

yesssssssssssssssss it always annoys me when i grab a drone with minerals, this will ease my mind lol

wow nice thanks for sharing!

Another BW habit to break. Great post, didn't think of this!

ill just shift click nexus -> gas
|
Thank you for the tip! Good find.
|
Very helpful tip, thanks! Saves me having to manually find workers without minerals to send to gas.
|
iirc shift click doesn't work, i remember shift clicking on my drones back to hatchery, they just walk towards the hatchery then towards the gas with mineral in their hands(or mouth)

Awesome tip, i hope people make more threads like this or compile all these little tricks into a single post.

I made a thread very much like this a few days ago, and I got a warning for it. How come you post something like this, and people are like "awesome!"
Anyways...
Some tricks I learned if you play terran.
if you tell an scv to attack a location, and then shift queue it to go back to mining afterwards, the scv will repair every mech unit that it sees on its attack route, then go back to mining. I do this with 2 scvs every now and then when i have some damaged tanks. i forego maybe a few minerals, but if i save my tanks, gas is more important than minerals for terran.
to get workers faster for gas, select a clump. you'll probably get 8 or 9. then shift+click on them until you got 6. tell those 6 to go to the gas. then press "c" so they return minerals before going to teh gas. then shift+click 3 more times, so u only got 3 workers left. then tell them to mine at the second gas.
some things that blizzard needs to fix:
when i have 2 floating barracks, and i click x for it to land and build a tech lab, the first barracks moves to make that tech lab. then when i press x again and another location, the fucking first barracks stops and tries to go to the second location. u fucking IDIOT. i want the fucking SECOND BARRACKS to go to that second location!!! -__-;;; so stupid
oh, and reaper rally points. I had a proxy rax with reaper coming out. set the rally point to the enemy base. the reaper could easily jump 2 cliffs and get into the base within 3 seconds. instead, it takes the lonnnng way around and those few seconds were fucking VITAL. by the time he got there, my scv building the bunker was already killed, and the second marine was out. fuck that shit.
oh, and when you fucking burrow your god damned supply depots, your scvs don't change their path finding immediately, or even, i swear, within one or 2 seconds after the depot is burrowed. what the fuck. i always need to tell an scv to go through the depot, but i tell the depot to burrow, then the scv takes like, a whoel fufcking second to update his pathing, and i'm trying to wait for him. i'm almost prefering to just lift my barracks, because the pathing is instantaneous for that.

Awesome tip. Much appreciato.

Excellent find. I tested every method listed here, along with all the shift ones. The original post of clicking a Refinery and then pressing C without any use of SHIFT is the best, most optimal method.
Thank you!

Maybe because you write like this?! Anyway nice finds in here.

thanks for the tip, will try to use it more often. Someone should create a section for all this hidden micro/macro shortcuts

I'm thinking that these threads could actually be detrimental to the average player.
The benefits are obvious but marginal, and the down effect is that you start admiring shit like this and end up focusing on close-to-useless tricks while you fall behind in much more important things.
However, a smart person will make use of things like this properly.

+1
These things are not important _at all_ unless you mastered things like not queueing units, constantly building workers, etc.
"I did a perfect worker split and did'nt sent any guys on gas with minerals, HOW COME I STILL LOST THE GAME?!"
People like these gimicky neat tricks and forget all about the important fundamentals.
