There are a lot of casters etc. that I can't stand because of their voices, hell, the majority of casters are unlistenable (I just made that word up) to me. Wheat isn't one of them, he's in the opposite batch.

lol at HD grabbing the camera and pointing it at himself near the end just to be in the cast, guess you can't blame him too much...

yeah, thats pretty much the same with me. but its less his voice which i also dont like, but more his manner of speaking. every normal commentator has a normal way of speaking, d9 often just makes up words, but hey, funny nontheless, but wheat with his, yo, whazz up bitches in the hood style, i just cant stand. and i wasn´t that active in broodwar, only knew the common ones, tasteless, artosis, not even day9 really and the tsl commentators (yeah, i know d9 is one of them), so i dont have any kind of connection with wheat.

I can understand, DJWheat has a very distinctive voice, it does not bother me however.

Is this still where we are meant to post questions for the cast? @QUESTION Comment: Congratulations to Tyler on his great play this weekend in Dallas. The over the shoulder cast of his last series was fantastic to watch. Question: Did Tyler pull out the warp prism play (warp prism + sentry over to opponents main, FF the ramp and warp in speedlots) he was talking about last week? If so, which game(s) was it? And if not, did he do any other significant warp prism play in any games?

Regarding the technicality rule, maybe they could use the built-in handicap function instead Penalty: -10% hp on units.

So now you have to fight at a disadvantage too?
Why are they being punished anyway? To add drama or to tip the scales in favour of the previous winner?

Pfft. A measly 10% hp handicap? A technicality deserves a real handicap. Cut off his right arm! That'll show him.

Technical has nothing to do with extended series. Has to do with BM, breaking the rules, cheating, etc. They wanted to take the idea from halo that if you get a "technical" your team is not allowed to use a certain weapon chosen by the other team. But their rule for SC2 is tragic. Not allowing a player to build a unit of the opponents choice means they almost have no chance to win at all. Zerg without zerglings, lol. Protoss without stalkers.
I think it's an awesome idea. The handicap technical would be great.

Technicals are an awesome idea... for a custom map, a showmatch/grudgematch/TL Arena/Attack, Funday Monday, basically anything not serious and especially not a huge tournament with thousands of dollars on the line.
|
I think it's entirely unnecessary.. the SC2 tournament players are 10 steps above the immature halo/fighting game crowd. I would be extremely surprised if you ever see that rule in action..

I'm sure MLG will keep the rule, they have it for every other game. Might as well come to a good agreement on what it should be, because not building a core unit means you don't win.
Besides, the argument goes the other way too. If you're in a huge tournament with thousands of dollars on the line, you shouldn't BM, bend rules, or cheat.
EDIT: Also agree on Slasher.

I don't think MLG will do away with technicalities though because they try to emulate sports rulesets, for better or for worse.

I mean, like him or not, he is a host of the show. Slasher's abrasive kind of journalism isn't for everyone, me included, he is a 24-hour news network type that sensationalizes everything and tries to evoke an emotional response. That being said, he's extremely passionate about gaming and growing e-sports and he has helped expand SC2 to communities that wouldn't normally be interested and for that he earns my support and my respect.

The technicality that I am assuming he is trying to refer to is the one that can be called resulting in the choosing to eliminate one unit from being made. This was mentioned during the tournament. Basically, if you are called for a technical foul (be it some form of verbal abuse, or other non-acceptable behavior), your opponent may declare an attacking unit unable to be made. Say for instance, you are just knocked down into the losers bracket and the person you are facing says "Good luck!" before the game starts, and you respond with "fuck off", the ref may deem this unacceptable and call a technical. The opponent may then deem, say, stalkers from being used by you in the game. This is a rule that was brought over from Halo, in which under the same circumstances, you could eliminate a certain weapon from being used by that player. I personally think that this is not an applicable mechanic to an RTS game, especially SC2. I believe InControl even brought this up on the live stream that it will need to be addressed to the MLG rules committee in regards to future events next season.

Simple rule. Player may not take any action for 10 seconds at beginning of game. That would mean the opponent gets a real chance to win a game based on cheese or if you are idra, make like 10 extra drones.
