It's definitely a race thing. I remember an interview with Nestea from a few months ago about MMA where Nestea said he never learned timings but against MMA he decided to learn some timings because it was so difficult to play against him. I don't know about DongRaeGu though, I've never seen an interview with him where he talks about the way he plays and his mindset the way Stephano just did. Does anyone know?

I miss the old days of SOTG where you would go in depth on the tournaments and players and balance. You would talk about the STATE of the GAME as in what are some builds that are coming into popularity, builds that are tough to beat, go into extreme detail on new maps. Now I feel like especially with stephano saying basically nothing just making some jokes, yeah he was funny, all that noise and just nothing keeping the show tightly organized.
The orb interview was the best part. JP's questions were great, you kept it nice and structured, asking everyone one at a time if they had anything to ask, and keeping that segment not too long but asking all the right things. As well as orb's perfect answers... its good to see him in high spirits. Looking forward to seeing him make his comeback. Still ungodly amounts of pissed off at the whiny little scum who decided to go after this guy's life simply cause they don't like him and cause they're clearly just jealous of how much he's accomplished in this scene.
Idk what went so wrong with this episode.... maybe it was the fact that I can barely hear QxC and Tyler, I'm used to not hearing tyler but usually there's a geoff in there to balance it out. And not being able to hear stephano through his accent. So thats 2 sotg in a row where unless I turned it up loud and didn't play while listening I couldn't understand most of it over my clicking keys. Last week with Nestea and his translator's thick accent and now this week with all the above stated problems. Bah.
I love the show guys don't get me wrong but lately its just not been as much as I used to unfortunately.

I missed iNcontroL asking questions. There even wasn't any "racism" towards the french, I am disappoint. Really love how fast SotG was uploaded to Youtube!

I dunno if it was the chaos of me being on skype with friends or sotg in general but it was hard to enjoy it today.
No incontrol and artosis makes it kind of boring I guess
Still appreciate it!

Pros of episode 65:
- Stephano, the whole section - Orb, nice character
Cons:
- first impression is that everything works bad. I get it. You are indie. It was fun the first 3 shows. Move on, and polish the aspect of the show. Give it a look that makes me happy to share it to my friends not ashamed. Make the sound work perfect at least if QXC has a camera that works with running hamsters inside it .
- no schedule that is respected, no infrastructure. It's not a show, it's just a skype talk. Catz had more professional/constructive discussions with destiny and chad motherfking jones than this last SOTG
- the invites don't seem to treat the show seriously. Everybody leaves when they want. Can't you prepare 90 minutes of your day to this show that gives you exposure?
- exactly like in casting you need a funny guy and an analytical guy. There was no funny guy. Not saying that inc has to be on every show, but make the invites so that they have good chemistry.
- we need an overlay that shows the topic that is discussed at that moment, and it needs to be updated real time. Just like in news with the headlines. This will give a more professional feeling, like they actually plan the topics and will help the ones that catch the middle of a discussion. Maybe even show the points that will be discussed in an overlay that pops up in the first minutes after the live stream starts and everyone is setting up. Just a list of the topics that will be covered in the episode.
- it was short. 90 minutes is a lot of entertainment but a LOT less than what SOTG is used to be. So comparing to what SOTG was, it is a short amount of air time.
This is my feedback hoping that this show will improve.

There is a reason LoL is growing bigger than SC2. It isn't because of the game, it is because of how LoL wants their community. I've played about 20 games of LoL and I've heard the n-word in literally every single game (yes I did count) The SC2 community is fucking Bambi compared to the LoL community in terms of language, racism, and general manner I mean honestly if a LoL caster called someone an n-word in a non-streamed game nobody would even bat an eye let alone start a thousand post thread as a response They would though. Nobody cares about random people on ladder, but I can assure you that if any of the popular streamers started calling people niggers there would be some drama.
? i hear oddone calling people niggers on his stream, and he still seems popular.

I agree on pretty much all parts. There is one show who's doing all of the above and I really enjoy this show a lot, it's called Live On Three with SirScoots, djWHEAT and Slasher: very good overlays - one for every topic, funny and entertaining, 1,5 - 2,5 hours long, great guests, good chemistry between the hosts, more professional touch and great to show to other people to bring them in.
Besides those points I think this weeks episode of SotG was great. Thanks JP (also for the fact that the VOD was up so quickly, I really appreciate this). =)

BEST Episode ever stephano is the funniest guy sc2 has ... fuckin hilarious

day9's point at about 8 minutes in part two is an amazing cultural point, some people do define themselves by something they hate and only raise their voice to hate on something and it is a fucking tragedy

Maybe Dragon joining Millenium will help.
If Polt is living in the same house this week, maybe Stephano could strike up a friendship with him and arrange some Terran practice with Polt or some of Polt's Korean contacts. whenever people talk about the casual methods vs over analysing i always reply the same way. i remember roughly 6 months after launch all of the 'pros' had decided that 6 pooling was for noobs and only an idiot couldnt defend it after they see it coming, even if it gets in your base you just stomp it with workers. then this guy named actionjesus came along and did ok exclusively 6pooling and other cheeses. made the people who were too busy examining 1 second timing differences to work on the basics look pretty silly. this trend continues to this day. im not saying there isnt value in understanding timings, and the meta game and this and that, but so many people who play every month for large sum of money are still lacking in just basic 'make stuff, go attack, maybe do some micro gg' as players improve, the number of people who are successful without these core skills down 100% continues to decrease, but people like to declare 6pooling 'done' or cheesing 'done', but then it always comes back, even as just a counterplay to expectation and makes people making sweeping statements look silly again.
This is why i smile so much when Bronze - Diamond players want to analyse their play.
Just fucking play better and smarter and you will get to master. There is no BO or anything that will you bring to Master when you master it, because the guys that can go to Master with "only 4 Gate/6 Pool or whatever" could also do this by playing "normal".
It's just a question of intelligence.. Or nah.. It's about not doing stupid shit.

Short and sweet episode. Bit disappointed by the short part, but I'm simply glad you guys managed to put on a show this week.
ALSO Stephano's character is hilariously awesome. Couldn't stop laughing at his comments.

I don't give a shit about overlays and having the discussion topic on screen. I watch for the discussion and thats all. I remember when there was no video and the show was still excellent.

Yeh some more professionality couldn't hurt the show.
It's super annoying that even now, after all this time, there are bigger sound issues in just about every SotG podcast. You hear background noises, breaks aren't well communicated (please skip them for the mp3 file and just put in a 20-30sec melody) and so on and so on.
Of course the show is for free and thus there is no real entitlement for anyone but that's no valid argument. I cannot even express how glad I'm about Giantbomb's Bombcast, which is always on schedule, has bar none sound issues, a great host and thus flow/pace and is just overall well done.
Now none can expect that same level of professionality from SotG, considering how busy everyone of the "pillars" is and it being an internet/skype podcast. Still, if at least everyone could make sure his microphone works and he's talking into it correctly, stuff like that would be appreciated.
Edit: At the angry guy above, that has nothing to do with the podcast style. You'd have a hard time finding a more friendly and relaxed discussion than the one from the Bombcast. Production value doesn't interfere with a good, friendly discussion. In fact it rather helps with that.

So for you it's good because invites leave/don't show up, you can't hear them because of noise and it doesn't discuss really relevant topics? Cool story bro.

stephano made the show, so much funny shit, him and QXC need a spin-off podcast, awesome double act
QXC needs to fix his mic though
|
The biggest problem is the sound issues, I couldn't care less for shitty cameras or overlays as long as there are no rainbow-coloured gradients, but I need to understand what everyone is saying at all points, that's the whole point of a talk show. If you are on the show, you should have a decent microphone, the rest was good, although they should have asked Stephano about Feast.
|
I love that SotG be indy and disorganized. Keep up the good mess, gents! Please never let it become a freaking CNN.
edit: My only recurrent complaint has been for announcing the shows in advance and on the TL calendar, but either that has improved slightly, or I just learned to deal with it (check the thread regularly), so it hasn't been an issue for me lately.
|
I actually would like the show to go back to being a podcast. the video is cool and makes for good jokes like zooming in on the faces and such. Though what people want is the interaction between the hosts. I have listened to SOTG since beta and will always listen to show so to be honest just do whatever you want JP.
