What if zerg made only 60-65 workers instead of getting so many? Especially with heavy infester play the gas is more important than fully saturating minerals. Also if you aren't going to use queens as support units like catz and spanishiwa do, then stop after 3-4 queens and make macro hatches, I see zergs all the time floating tons of minerals, not making queens would free up supply for more army. Also macro hatches don't suffer from missed inject syndrome.

If you are just gonna cut queens, add more macro-hatches, cut drones, you are basicly playing protoss/terran with weaker units. And you definatly need 3 bases saturated on minerals = 48 drones Those 6 gasses on 2 bases = 18 drones That is 66 drones already. Let's say another 2 bases only on gas is a total of 78 drones. And go ahead and try to do those gas heavy strategy's with only 2 bases saturated on minerals, it doesn't work, you will constantly be short on minerals and you won't be able to spend your gas. And 3-4 queens is still 6-8 supply, and then with now your very low saturation in minerals your spending much more minerals then usual. I just don't see that working out ;>

If zergs went heavy gas strategies which benefits their race due to their race being gas intensive, it lets you tech quickly but still be able to defend. Infesters are amazing units, and with so much gas it lets you do transition into things like nydus, fast double ups, faster hive play. If you combine heavier gas compositions into an aggressive style like what Mondragon was displaying I believe success can be found. The main thing though is that no zergs are trying this idea of cutting drones and queens for macro hatches and going for fast 8 gas etc... If it gets tried and it fails then that's fine but the fact that ideas like this aren't being heavily looked into or being forced (ie: the discussion of TvZ in BW with dropships and scourge) shows that the majority of zergs are too busy whining instead of playing/tinkering.

3 bases saturated = 3 * 16 drones Your idea if 2 bases fully saturated and some drones on the other ones = 2 * 16 + 2 * 8/10 Where is the difference? Or if you meant 8-10 drones in minerals in total on your 3rd and 4th (then I'm just being a douche atm with my reaction) then I apologize, but make it a bit clearer then :p But in the end with your idea your still getting let's say 70 drones depending on the amount of gas, while usually zergs their high-end drone count kinda stops at 80. It just isn't that clear always because by the time you start mining your 4th your main is drying up and you are probably starting to transfer.

Another reason why not needing to saturate your 3rd and 4th minerals so fast because when you maynard from your main you saturate that way, and 70 drones as opposed to 80 with 3-4 queens instead of 5-6 that's 14 supply right there freed up. There's just possibilities is what I'm pointing out.

Last weeks show was awesome entirely due to all the BW nostalgia and talk, I wouldn't be opposed to a whole show based on BW experiences and story telling. I found that lost temple discussion hillarious and eye opening.

Though with JP cutting it short when the BW talk just so happens to pickup I dont think that will happen anytime soon. *-_- Guy needs to play less WoW. On a lighter note, it did bring me back to pre-brood war starcraft :D, it only makes me wonder how much people would cry imbalance if they played that game today.

Pretty sure he didn't cut it short for that reason. I think he just cut it short after it was drifting over the 1hr mark. 2hr+ sotg are cool for us, but bad for them if they plan on having good guests and hosts every week. I think he just realized he was past 1hr and still didn't even touch questions/shoutouts.
