FXOpen Announcements After the success of our past events and the establishment of the FXOpen Invitational Series we are proud to make the following announcements.
- FXOpen e-Sports has begun programming for an e-Sports TV platform. The platform will feature all FXOpen events, as well as various talk shows and other productions. It will also enable other tournament organisers to stream via a stable, high technology, platform without the hassle of web based streaming.
- FXOpen e-Sports tournament Ladder is now released. The ladder will be used for us to gauge which players will get an invite to our tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We have not released the prize money as yet, but it will be that of GSL or higher (sponsorships are already incoming so we will make a further announcement). We are looking at hosting this tournament around October-November. See an explanation of how the ladder will work in the spoiler below.
+ Show Spoiler [Ladder Example] +Points will be awarded for tournament placings much like the ATP tennis rankings, with 750 points for first place, down to 8 points for participation. The player's total number of points accrued from tournament placings over a season (i.e. in the last 3-5 tournaments depending on season length) will contribute towards their ladder rank. As new seasons begin, older tournament results will cease to contribute so that only the last 3-5 most recent events count towards your points score. A multiplier is also in effect that reduces your total by 10% each time you forfeit or no-show to an event that you promised attendance at. Currently the ladder looks something like this:
- FXOpen e-Sports new events. Weekly KOTH (including Korean players), the KOTH events allow players to gain points towards the FXOpen e-Sports tournament ladder as well as other prizes.
- FXOpen Invitational, Destination Korea Tournaments. In order to get some of the best names outside of Korea, to Korea, we will be hosting tournaments in which the first prize is a plane ticket to Korea. These tournaments will NOT have Korean players involved. *NOTE* This prize will only be a plane ticket, players with no intention on making it to korea will be requested to refuse their invitation. We will be taking PM’s for people who are interested in these tournaments soon when we announce the first one.
- FXOpen e-Sports talkshow, featuring FXOBOSs, FXOUnstable, FXOWolf and various guests, including some of your Korean favourites!
- FXOpen e-Sports website is nearly ready, on our website you will find replays, blogs, commentary and news regarding the company.
- FXOpen e-Sports TEAM HOUSE. We have found a property, its already owned by our company. It’s a large house just outside of Kuala Lumpur. It is the complete opposite of a Korean team house and is a more comfortable environment. We are now waiting for the occupants to move to their new place in the next 12 months (FXOMonarch is currently occupying it). If something changes in the company, this may change.
- FXOpen e-Sports studio, Kuala Lumpur. We are currently in the process of creating a gaming studio. We will test this with our technology and smaller local events before we run our larger globally broadcast event. We expect to have this completed by June.
- FXOpen e-Sports, FXOmOoNan joins the ranks. FXOmOoNan aka AllAboutYou has joined FXO and is hailing from New York. He is a well decorated brood war player and extremely good terran. We welcome him and are glad he signed up with us.
- FXOpen e-Sports, FXOWolf (Caster) joins the ranks. In order to provide superior streaming to our spectators we have signed up another caster to prevent any further issues. Unstable and Wolf are a great team and mould very well together.
There may be a few announcements I am missing, and I will update the OP if necessary.
GL HF all!
Regards
FXOBoss

Nice!
I still find most SC2 matches boring, but will definitely support this, as I'm pretty sure that I will find SC2 really exciting after expansions and after the game have started to evolve more.

What a great announcement!!! Looking forward to all the events !!!

Amazing, now get Sheth to Korea :D

You guys are doing some incredible things for esports and sc2.
I can't wait to see the results of all of this!

Holy! The SC2 pro-scene is moving so fast it's amazing. Best of luck FXO
|
Oh wow, I'm incredibly impressed by this, FXO helping esports really grow is nothing short of amazing!

Sick announcements. The tournament, team house, and programming especially. Hasn't mOoNan been on FXO for like a month though? Regardless lots of good news coming from FXO, wish you guys nothing but the best!
|
I guess the esports bomb just exploded.
3 100k + tournies? Jesus
|
Wow lots of sick news. Hope you guys do some open tournaments too and not just invitationals but this is awesome some really awesome announcements and that tournament with gsl or higher prize money should be good too. Wish we didn't have to wait till october for that

WOW so many big things happening!!! my heads exploding!!!!

don't worry! they did it correctly, there were many announcements of announcements!
|
Wow, this list seems extremely solid & awesome. If all of them can get carried out, it'll be a pretty huge step towards improving e-Sports.
|
Wow, very ambitious. Everything sounds great, and I hope it all is successful. Can't wait to hear more details!
+ Show Spoiler +This is so completely opposite of the NASL announcement, little hype, clearly organized announcement
|
We have not released the prize money as yet, but it will be that of GSL or higher (sponsorships are already incoming so we will make a further announcement). Holy crap. I'm really looking forward to what could be one of the most prestigious tournaments yet held for SC2. FXOpen e-Sports studio, Kuala Lumpur. We are currently in the process of creating a gaming studio. A studio will only mean good things. Improved production values will make the matches infinitely more interesting to watch, and it'll be much better than voices talking through Battle.net menus or overlays.
Also, it's awesome to see Wolf being added to the team of casters. I wish him the best, especially since his SC2 casting career is really taking off.
|
sounds epic! cant wait for this
|
Loving this announcement.
|
Thanks for the compliments guys. I am not about 'hype' per se. I prefer steady growth. This is why we haven't just opened with a huge massive tournament. I will do a live cast sometime soon explaining the way we function in comparison to the rest of e-sports (minus GSL). It will probably be our first beta production.
|
Wow this is incredible! Can't wait!!!
|
This is amazing. I'm excited to see how the TV station/studio plays out.
Awesome that you have a house now as well, I feel like FXO will be an amazing team (not they they already aren't ) in the coming months with all the practice.
|
This is INCREDIBLE. I would have been blown away if only one of those dot points was the announcement. Keep this up FXO!
|
It'd be kinda cool if winners of GSL, NASL, FXO would playoff to determine a world champion.
|
Dude... When a real company gets behind eSports... Holy shit things start to happen.
Amazing announcement, pro-gamers from all over the world have incredible opportunities with the NASL, GSL, ESL, IEM, MLG and now the FXO(SL/Invitational/what have you).
<3 <3 <3
|
seriously.
actual companys own team + sponsorships = fucking big bang for e-sports.
amazing.
|
Well, I guess that means FXOBoSS wasn't exaggerating in his interview with Artosis during the Code A qualifiers. Sick, sick news.
|
Great work FXO, really well run organisation
|
Nice move. Looking forward to it.

I really love how FX is really conducting themselves in a business-like and professional manner. No bullshit. Just cut-throat sharp, refined , well thought out and prepared decision. All the best with this venture.

No , not really i didnt mean that. I just got the feeling that fx open is really professional to get the result they want. Was referring mostly how they were very bold in saying " ok just korea is not where it is going to be at for us. We are focusing somewhere else" and how they put players on probation and i assume would be willing to cut players if they dont show desired results.
Nasl is cool too. Don't get me wrong.

Awesome announcements! I can't wait until you give more information on some of this stuff.

Josh, I would really love to help out in executing your plans as far as possible, if you're in need of local manpower. I'm in Penang, can we move to KL to join you guys? Last heard, you'll be in KL from early March. Can we meet up? BTW, I have SEA/NA/TW/KR Bnet accounts (Diamond ~ Plat player myself) , can I add you on one of those? Would love to have a chat. PM'ed you.

I am in KL at the moment.

I have high expectations for everything FXO related!
good work dudes!
|
Some very exciting news. I hope it lights a fire under the butts of the best of the SEA community to have such great opportunities so close to home.
|
Is this why they call Malaysia the land of "boleh" cos ANYTHING can happen! Even esports !
|
Very good news, only thing which confuses me a bit is the Ladder System. You mention tournaments+KOTH to get points, but will those be just those invite tournaments like you have been running already, or will it be open tournaments?
|
Our tournaments will have open tournaments in order to be placed into the ladder, once in the ladder the KOTH is the best way to get invited to 64 and 32 player invitationals. Basically, it will become a player reward system, you play in our tournys we invite you to the bigger ones.. SO players have to actually make the effort to wnat to be part of it. AT the same time, prizes will be given out along the way.
|
Kuala Lumpur,,, it's near for us Singaporean SC2 players but it sucks that I'm enlisting soon... no way I can train and try to participate
|
This is absolutely amazing! Can't wait

As in it's an actual house, as opposed to a small, cramped apartment with loads of beds in a single room.
|
Please reupload the pic of ladder example.

Yeh the players will most probably have their own bedrooms rather than sharing rooms. With a local gaming room.. etc etc

Sweeeeeeeet! Hopefully everything's planned going well. Good luck.

cool maybe i can travel up from Singapore to catch the tournament... Is it offline or online?

FXO, moonan changed from vile, we havent announced, so i announced.

We have operations in Malaysia, contacts in event management/government etc, as well as infrastructure. In Australia it is far too expensive and harder for teams to come. Malaysia is in the middle of everything, so its easier access for the worlds best than Sydney.
Hope this explains it.

We will hopefully do something in Aus when things spark up a bit.

FXO, you guys are amazing. Can't wait for all these events!

Wow this is really sick. So many big announcments lately!
|
This is what i called a professional announcement. Great Job!
|
*NOTE* This prize will only be a plane ticket, players with no intention on making it to korea will be requested to refuse their invitation.
sounds like a pragmatic way of letting them see if they can make the flight once they've secured the ticket (as opposed to an automatic disqualification) - nice touch.
|
NASL and FXOpen go big within a week of each other - Christmas in February :D
|
Sc2 is taking over the world!
|
Holy balls.
More events!
GSL level prize pool!
Team house in Malaysia, where property is actually dirt cheap in comparison to densely populated Korea, meaning when they say the house is big, actually expect a big house compared to the Korean bunker lofts.
Having Sheth, Moonglade and Wolf onboard basically makes this one of the my favourite teams!
Hearing from TheStC that many of the Korean progamers are a bit sad that there's so few tournaments in Korea aside from the GSL (a Gisado event here and there, and that's it) means that your events will be populated by good talent.
FXOpen Love you guys and what you do for the SC2 scene.
|
epic stuff, holy balls indeed
Lookin forward to more FXO stuff.
|
this is a pretty huge announcment, GL guys, great job!

Wow. Congratulations and keep moving forward!

FXOmOoNan (allaboutyou) as previously mentioned was on 'probation' which is a harsh term for what is essentially a short period to prove he is right for the team before anything is signed. It's for the benefit of both the player and FXOpen!

Awesome news. I'm a big fan of FXO. Having your headquarters in Kuala Lumpur will make it easier for Koreans and foreigners in Korea to participate. I think it's only 6 and a half hours between Incheon and Kuala Lumpur. Btw, will future KOTHS and invitationals be held on the SEA server? I remember Huk or Ret mentioning that the latency between Korea and SEA servers weren't too bad.
|
League wise, the east has FXO and GSL, while the west has NASL, IEM, and MLG. This will make it easier for foreigners to move to Korea because they will have a lot of tournament opportunities to participate in the east, too. Exciting!

That would make it pretty much impossible for Europeans to participate, wouldn't it? I don't exactly know how the latency from here to SEA is, but I expect it to be pretty horrible. atm the NA server seems to be the most "balanced" one I think...

WoW!! So freaking cool! This all looks fantastic.I am confused about one thing however. How does the TV thing work? Like what station is going to broadcast this? Is it a regional broadcast? Can everyone watch this at some point if your not local? Is this even a real televised event, or is it one of those things where we call it "TV" but its just streaming like day9 tv? The way you wrote it kind of confusing to me.

Straight up FXOpen would be the team I'd want to be on if I were a pro, they seem to really take care of their players and keep things really transparent and keep an open dialogue, they send you to the events you'll want to go to as well as ones halfway across the world to some of the nicest cities on earth.

H-oly S-hit! FXO fighting!

Is there a specific reason for only using the FXO ladder to invite people to your big tournament? I mean, while the ladder looks good and all, there haven't been that many FXO events so a huge number of top players are missing. Maybe you could invite half and pull the other half from your tournaments somewhat like the TSL 3?
|
This is amazing announcement. FOX has grow bigger and bigger. I am deeply sorry for absent for last event. Looking forward working with you in the future.

Don't worry... I keep telling you guys. Don't worry.
What's wrong with doing both?

interesting what they have been doing in southeast asia...i think the leader of fxo called it an emerging market for esports. without knowing the dynamics of area i will just agree.
it seems like they've really made a real push for this and i think although korea hasn't embraced sc2 as drastically as peak bw levels, a worldwide push will definately bring out the korean pride. and i like that.

Wow! I am so impressed with you guys, and happy that Wolf has found a team to be staff caster for. I hope we (VT) can collaborate with you guys on events, showmatches, etc. The team house sounds incredibly exciting and I wish I could visit~
FXO fighting!

hi guys,
Thanks alot for the support. I have been celebrating a few things here so forgive me for not adding further insight yet.
I will write a few things up to explain a little more over the coming days.

I still find most SC2 matches boring, but will definitely support this, as I'm pretty sure that I will find SC2 really exciting after expansions and after the game have started to evolve more. I find this first post very discouraging, I think you should edit the part that says you find sc2 matches boring, you are the first post, people look up to you literally. Fix it if you have a heart!!!l

Host the tournament after uni exams in late november and I would totally fucking hit that on the way to Europe from Aus.
:D

Nice announcement, the only thing that spoils it is that FXOpen is a scamming company.

... Sigh, TL has already been over this, not the case.
Anyway on topic:
Super exciting news! This seems like a great complement to the NASL - we have gsl in Korea with a couple foreigners, NASL for the foreigner scene with a couple of Koreans, and then once or twice a year the big FXO ladder tournament or IEM brings the scenes together. I really hope both FXO and NASL grow strongly.
Edit: also, wolf and unstable make a great casting duo, I really enjoy listening to both of them - good choices by FXO. One worry though - I could be totally wrong, but I thought wolf was based in Europe - would there be any worries about lag between there and sea server events? I know players hate caster lag...

I'm based in Australia and Ive never had trouble casting a game on any server us/eu/kr/sea so it should not be a problem.

Hi,
I kind of understand your skepticism. But seeing your location as egypt is pretty heart breaking. We have been in egypt from the beginning (our company originated as fxegypt). 8 years of charity and sponsorship of education in egypt makes me feel a little disheartened when you come up with such a baseless comment.
Although I understand, I can't say I appreciate, your post. If you do have a problem with our company, feel free to PM me and we can hopefully rectify any issue you may have.
Regards,

Besides, I'm actually based in the Moon, so the lag is always equal.
In all seriousness, there's never been any serious lag in FXO events. It will be dealt with accordingly. The bigger issue is the player lag.

gogo FXOpen, great team and great organisation !

So happy to hear this news. Really looking forward to more of Wolf and Unstable casting together, they were amazing during the FXO invitational. The best of luck with these endeavors! (though I doubt you need it with how well thought out everything seems )

My brain literally hurts with the amount of awesomeness..
Incredible things can happen when you throw money in the right direction
This is amazing! Keep up the good work FXO!

Just a quick question about the ladder, will it be based on all tournaments or just those put on by FXO? And if so, will FXO put on more open tournaments instead of invitationals so that all players will get an equal chance to earn points?

I think this misconception stems from the fact that FXOpen is actually big enough so that people poses as them to do scams. Therefore, people unfamiliar with forex thinks of them as scam company.
It's kinda like Microsoft/Blizzard e-mail scams.

Awesome news for the progression as esports.

Nice pick with Wolf as a caster, should make a great addition and the whole deal sounds amazing.

Just a question will the ladder / etc be played on on kr,na or sea servers?
|
On February 28 2011 17:00 Bru wrote: Just a question will the ladder / etc be played on on kr,na or sea servers? We are pretty much sticking solely to the NA server for now. This is not because we like Americans more than everyone else, but that it's the fairest and most accessible server.
That doesn't mean EU, KR, etc. aren't options in the future.
|
our KOTH's will be on various servers.

This sounds awesome, great to see more and more SC2 eSports avenues going up! Keep up the good work guys!

Great stuff here, congrats to FXO and everyone involved. Have watched some of your tourneys and now this and bigger and better tourneys, just wow. Looking forward to things to come!

This news is amazing, i hope you guys keep the quality, just like FXOpen.

Any chance we could ask how big the house is? Looking at the location and obviously how supportive FXO has been towards their team and players, I would love to see what the living conditions are like because I imagine it would be VERY lavish by esports standards

This thread needs some spotlighting or Community News headering or some form of more hype..
This truly is HUGE ..

Amazing. I've been on the edge of my seat about this since Artosis interviewed you guys a while back.

Good luck FXO! Looking forward to seeing everything develop

This is so awesome. As a person working in the forex industry, it is amazing that you are sponsoring something "not mainstream." :D

Can you give some information on where exactly the team house and studio will be located in the KL area?
|
I am not releasing that information.

Alright, any idea when you might do that? I'm staying in KL for a few months and would like to drop by.

Do you guys sell Forex coaching? Lol...
|
Love your style FXO. I'm excited to see the scene developing a little bit closer to my corner of the world!
|
How I missed this for so long I dont know, should totally be some sort of spotlight on this. Awesome 'news' and good luck with whatever the future may bring.

awesome to see all these teams doing big things!

Hey deL think I found the proper thread haha
Lol I can just imagine an FXO board meeting..
Agenda 1. Budget and figures - check 2. Strategy and direction - check 3. Dominate eSports industry - check
With each new announcement my jaw drops slightly lower.. Everything amazing that happens in eSports FXO seems to go one better.. And now Khaldor! Amazing!
Plus the tournaments! Everyone should check out this tournament.. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=198040
The players the prizes.. Everything! Amazing!!!
|
Does this mean that Khaldor won´t work anymore for GameSports and myStarcraft or will he work for FXO and these sites?
|
no, he is part of both still.
|
FXOKhaldor, that's just too good.
|
Players part of this team is very lucky
|
Holy Moly Big news.... lol why would SOTG not mention anything about this!
|
Will this be open for any players to try and get into the ladder, if they feel bold enough to do so? Will there be any open qualifiers?
|
Why did I not see this earlier??? this looks awesome! I only noticed because I searched for it after seeing the FXO KOTH and wondering what the ladder points were for. Holy shit GSL level prizepools thats huge, not to mention its Malaysia so it will be a good timezone for us aussies!
FXO easily looks like one of the best SC2 Esports organizations along with the GSL. All the FXO tourneys have been well produced. After the disaster that was MLG, NASL looking a bit dodgy and IGN's pretty terrible advertisement for their league (not to mention both NASL or IGN will be cast from replays not live), I've lost confidence in the American leagues...
|
FXO definitely something to look out for
