Firstly, I am not part TL Sub team and is merely an active member in TeamLiquid.net. I have seem members waiting for BoxeR's Wings Episode 2 for months and TL Sub team must be extremely busy and couldn't yet complete the project.
I am simply lucky enough to have access to Chinese Sub'ed of Episode 2 and understands Chinese. After seeing how awesome the episode 2 is, I want to help out and share this joy with others. I have translate the entire episode 2 from Chinese to English (except the last 2 minutes, which is corrupted in Chinese version of the video).
I'm no good with video manipulation so it'll just be a text file (in google doc) with time stamps and rough English translations.
It would be awesome if anyone is willing to help out refining my poor grammar and/or spelling mistake, I have made the google document public for edit:
Edit Transcript:http://bit.ly/gzhb2R This document is made public so anyone is able to help out at their will without the wait for whitelisting. Google Doc supports version control and logs editors IP, hence griefs can be easily reverted and we will know who you are. So please don't grief in the transcript
I have also mirrored the Chinese video from YouKu.com as it can be very slow if you are outside of China.
I'm happy for anyone to utilise this transcript either upload the video to online video player services like YouTube with external subtitle support, or map the translation into video itself.
NOTE (2011-04-13): Big thanks to the guys who helped out maintaining this transcript! Much appreciated! Feel free to add your signature to the Credit section in the end of the document
NOTE (2011-04-14): Many thanks to those who continues to help out on the transcript and a special thanks to sepp0 for creating a SubStation Alpha Subtitles file for us!! sepp0 also nice enough to encode the video with the subtitles that everyone can now enjoy!
Awesome job by Nopileus, for embedding English subtitles to Korean version of Episode 2!
Original quality (673mb, mkv) [url blocked] please use media player classic (cccp) or mplayer (on mac/linux), seems like VLC does not play it well without reencoding.

Been sick, hence hasn't keep this post up-to-date.
Big thanks to tabbi for uploading Episode 2 to YouTube with external subtitles. (also thanks to Highlight for his attempt :D)
Side note: Little as 1 week after my original post on this "fan translation", I was overwhelmed by the power of community where a rough translation got correctly on daily bases, subtitle files were created, timings were corrected, video re-encoding and polish up with YouTube upload. Big thanks to everyone who participate and supports this task and am looking forward to next input for this community :D
nice, was wondering if they stopped doing these or what. as for what it is its a documentary following boxer return to competition. I believe this took place during gsl2 or at least thats where the first one left off I believe.
Gonna check it out after DH invitational and I'll thank you in advance for the translation =D, I thought the first episode was really interesting so I'm hoping this one will deliver aswell =).
Sweet, thanks for this. I'll have to check it out when I have some free time. The first episode was pretty entertaining and I was curious to see what they would do with the show from there.
Youtube and blip can both do external subs. I dont know how though. It was easy enough to just watch the video with the subtitles open next to it, for me. Thanks a bunch!
I'll convert this into a subtitle file format later today if someone doesn't get to it before me. As for people asking the questions about using external subtitle files... you can do that with VLC media player and "advanced file open". VLC is free and it's very practical.

yeah seriously some angry kid abused the edit privileges on this document. It seems the document itself is updated but the viewing transcript is not updating yet. Lets just assume it'll fix itself soon enough. The attention whoring some people will go through just to QQ jeez.
on topic though, hope this gets translated into video soon! loved episode 1

Hi! I'm watching it right now, and will try and make small improvements as I go (already have made a few. mostly just elaborating on some of the sentences)

He only gave the full transcript text, you have to open both the video and the text and read by yourself.
Or wait until the subtitle is done (someone said would make it after he gets back from job or something).
Thanks for doing these and letting me discover a very moving documentary. Learned a lot about Lim Yo Hwan as a person and how great the people supporting him are.
I love BoxeR's dad. "At first I didn't like his girlfriend, but then I noticed she's really good at housework, and she cleans the dishes without being told to! She can stay."

For me the sound is horribly out of sync after a few minutes. I might retime the subs to the korean version of it since its far better in quality, i'll post it if i do it.
Edit: I Started, give me a day or two and i'll upload a higher quality version without chinese subs in it. also subs will stay on screen long enough to actually read them.

I'm half way through at this point, already took me over 4 hours...phew.
The .ass that sepp0 made is my base, so its not the newest version of the scrip, i'm still correcting stuff though, so it should be better than before.
I'll try to get it done this evening.
The file will be about 700mb big, any suggestions for uploading it?
Omg lol, finished watching this and wow the makers are really good with finding suitable clips from GOM and their video choice!
For example, in the end where they show Boxer losing to Nestea, all the shots of Boxer showed great concentration but with a hint of strong, strong frustration. When he lost, it showed him happily going over to shake Nestea's hand (and it seemed like Nestea had a huge grin on his face, even tho his face was down looking at the keyboard he was packing up) and it really gave a really dramatic feel of the good and old losing to the new.
Thank you so much! I'll watch this as soon as I can (tomorrow after class since I should be finishing a paper right now, haha). I've been waiting for this for forever!
Hey guys I have no idea how you are suppose to view this with the english subtitles because MEGAUPLOAD doesn't work in Hong Kong. I tried to download the video and .ass file except it only plays chinese. If anyone can help please reply to my post. THANKS SO MUCH ^ ^. RESPECT TO THE PEOPLE WHO TRANSLATED IT!
Thanks a lot guys, I have a problem though. I cannot download any of the videos, megaupload always tells me "download limit exceeded" and wants me to buy premium

Awesome job!! A shame the TL team took so long to get the subs out. It's amazing that all of this was put together in only 3 days! Major props to laughingsdk and everyone else who helped. will watch tonight
God what an amazing episode, Ga-Yeon's dedication is ridiculous. Boxer is so fucking humble, if he gets knocked out of Code A this season I may actually cry because of how it must feel for him. Lim Yo Hwan... please win!
Thanks for doing this. Although it isn't perfect as it is KR -> EN -> CN, I really appreciate the effort all of you put into this as we were plagued with problems ever since our translator for this series disappeared on us after the first episode (he had the transcript and we weren't able to contact him at all).
If it is needed, I will upload it on my personal YouTube account, as I am able to upload 15+ minute videos. Give it 12 or so hours though.
thanks to everyone that helped translating/uploading or anything connected with episode #2 =))))) This documentary is 10/10 people should start recommending it to friends that dont know anything about esports. =)
How many episodes are there of the series ? Is episode 3 out ? Is it going to be translated too ? ;]
Alright, I think I figured out the subtitles. (Keep in mind I'm using VLC media player for this. If you need to download it, it's here - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
To use the .ass file, make a new folder and put both files in it (the documentary itself and the subtitles). Make sure that both files have the EXACT same name and then run the .mkv file. The subtitles should be showing up. If they aren't, go to the video tab at the top, click on subtitles track, go to open file, and then find the .ass file and open it.
Wow, excellent work on behalf of quite a few people, and thank you for the subs!
Does anyone know if the series continues from episode 2? I didn't notice any preview like Episode 1 did, so I'm pretty worried. I really hope they're continuing to make episodes, it'll be awesome to see one that covers SlayerS's GSTL win.
nice thanks =)...now this makes me think...I've been reading the Chinese Subs more than the English subs 0.o"
Also, I realized when you stop wearing a ring it really throws off your game balance. like if I am not wearing my ring I'll over shoot my split and stuff and my micro ends up pretty nasty lol. Good thing Boxer found his ring again =P
since there wasn't a working youtube upload yet. i used youtubes inbuild sub-tool which should be active on default. if not click the small arrow-icon and then 'cc'.
Episode 2 was great, hope they do more in the future.
(And seriously, even tv channels outside of korea should produce a few shows like this (as long as they make sure the production quality is super-amazing and make sure there's no huge mistakes like pretending to play from a replay with a xbox controller or something).
It's something you don't really need any starcraft or gaming knowledge to watch and would go a long way in helping more people understand what esports is about. Like the old Slayers documentary here in Norway like 10 years ago, almost everyone I know who watched it had no idea what it was about but found it interesting.)
So ... Kind of working and I'm on my iPhone. I can watch the video but there's no subtitles and there's no way to press CC for subtitles. Any links with embedded subs?
Wow, haven't finished watching the whole video yet, but did anyone else find it to be a whole other world Boxer's FATHER (who must be 65 or something at least) asked Boxer how many Terrans there were in the GSL and then went on to ask how he felt about playing Nada. I mean to understand and follow it that much is unreal haha, (obviously it makes sense since his son is none other than the most iconic figure in eSports but still).

The ending, where Boxer talks about the culture of fans (and ultimately the power of fans coming together to support eSports) - gave me chills. Well, the chanting of the Emperor's name was great too, but his words will echo through the ages man.

anyway, thank you for subbing this guys. great work!
First episode was awesome but I have a question guys. Is boxer even top 10 in sc2 at this very moment? I haven't been able to follow sc2 scene that closely, it'd be nice to know!

Nah. Probably closer to like top 50.
Oh ic, then who are the top ten then? Are any of them from old bw? Or are they all new Koreans and foreigners?

most sc2 korean pros were from BW albeit they weren't as good in sc1 as they are in sc2. I'd say july is the only top top player from sc1 to be top 10 right now, but even then he wasn't that good towards his later sc1 years. Right now the most skilled player from sc1 to go over would probably be MVP who got into some round of 32s in sc1. And it's hard to say who's really top 10 at this point, but I'd have to say the majority of them definitely weren't dominant in sc1.
Was a little bit disappointed to be honest, really was hoping it was going to have GSTL 2 and the SlayerS rise to power on this episode, hope that is on episode 3 though!

you know what, I am going to ask Cella if he knows anything about a potential episode 3. perhaps they have some footage or were taking footage...one can only hope.
Thanks so much for translating and subbing this! Really gives an indepth look into the life of Yohwan, and I found it really cute how they focus on his relationship with his girlfriend.
Thanks for your work, hopefully in the next episode we will see him preparing for the TSL3 matches he had against Sen, and hopefully also during the games!
after watching this; great episode, it is heartwarming to see their relationship. i wish we got even more background on lim yo hwan though so that new people can understand why he is so important for esports.
they must do more episodes! how he formed slayers, getting sponsors and working hard to reach what they are now would be great to watch.

:DDDDD tytyty so much for that! i love the insight into the life of someone we've all followed and looked up to for so long (maybe not all of us, but i personally have)
Can't wait for episode 3! Maybe it will focus more on how BoxeR forms SlayerS and worked to make the team as good as it is now. Then in episode 4, maybe it will be time for BoxeR to succeed (as a player) as well. )
I just want to say I'm so glad that this community has someone like the OP who would just take the initiative to do it all himself, translating is an underappreciated skill here but it really does go out to tens of thousands of people who have the chance to watch something amazing like this after waiting for so long.
Thank you so much once again, I hope more people would be able to take initiative like this, since even now the translating team is clearly too busy to set up a regular system for it all, its just nice to see this great video.

Many has asked on episode 3 and this is my thought:
Episode 1 and 2 were released by GomTV on December 2010. There was no mention of episode 3 at all nor denial on its possibility.
My personal opinion is, if you watched episode 1, there's 1 scene were Ga-Yeon was searching a game house for Boxer. I took that as a sign that Boxer was already considering creating team Slayers (where he only announced this after GSL Season 3). Also judge from the title of the documentary: "Boxer's Wings", I interpret that as Boxer and his team (hence the wings).
So I was strongly believed that the documentary will be about team Slayers and really hoping that is the case. Perhaps there are some Non-Disclosure Agreement issues either it's about sponsors, team events or training methods... time will make those less sensible and eventually they will be documented as history.

If an ep 3 comes out hopefully we'll all be able to enjoy it as well thanks again for what you've done.
Does anyone know just how many episodes there are of this series so far? And if so what is the progress on a translation?
Enough about that.
This stuff is amazing, many thanks for those who helped put this together and translate it, I've watched both episodes several times. And this has really revolutionized my image of BoxeR!
This is such an awesome documentary. I'm watching it now. It just makes me wanna give boxer a hug. He's such a great guy, and I can't believe someone who's basically been in the spotlight for 10 years still manages to have such a level headed outlook on life. I would definitely highly recommend this to any starcraft fan.
These are fantastic. I loved the congressman: "Yeah I booked holidays to play Starcraft 2, but then that damn flood got in the way and I had to go to work, dammit"
I watched episode 2, will watch 1 when I get more time, but man o man that was awesome, really appreciated the video and the subtitles. can't wait to watch another.

Sorry for the necro if it's inappropriate, but same as the poster above me I can not find the eng subbed version of Boxer's Wings Ep 1 anywhere. The youtube video is "Private" for some reason and there are no download links working anywhere for the video.
Been on a tear re-watching Old Boy & Hyungjoon Becomes a Progamer, and I'm sure other people would appreciate having all of Boxer's Wings available to watch too! If someone has it downloaded and can upload or share in any way that would be fantastic.
Yeah, actually. This is necro-worthy - a really awesome docu about boxer has effectively gone missing for english speakers T_T I want it back. Anyone out there in a position to figure out what happened with it? I'm not sure where I would start. Boxer doesn't have twitter.. wat do?
Bit of a bump but the episode 2 link doesn't work so I uploaded the raw VoD and added the transcript in the OP directly from the YouTube subtitles options. Skimming through it, it seems like some things are out by a few seconds but it's better than nothing. Just click the caption button in the lower right if you're not seeing any subtitles. Enjoy!
I know this post is VERY old- I just wanted to see if anyone had a link to this? I've been wanting to watch it for awhile now but everywhere (media shares, youtube) are all gone.
