As a player, it's useful, though I don't use anymore out of the .00000000001% chance they ban people for using the stronger color mod (lol).
As a spectator though, I hate it. The game has pretty slick graphics already at max settings, I really hate watching games with this enabled.

Can a mac user that has gotten this to work pm me please? ;-; if someone does figure it out it should be added to the OP or at least posted so other mac users can use this awesome mod.

The only way for it to work is to take the mpq file of a windows user who has the mod installed and replace it with your mac mpq file. At least that should work. I've tried uploading my whole mpq but it always fails, and i've tried uploading it in different sites. The mod used to work on macs but that was back when you didn't need mpq editing for it to work. Now Blizz changed it and the mac install problems begin I'm sorry, but if you have a windows friend, that would probably be the best way to try to get it working.

It's like someone just slapped a huge bucket of paint on the units, and it looks really terrible. I really hope tournaments don't start using this. Unlike what iNcontroL said on one of the SotG episodes, "It's not like anyone is gonna fight you for using this mod", I will in fact fight to stop this mod becoming popular on tournament streams

There were good reasons for this. The only unit that should really seem painted on should be the zergling. And this is because it's so small and on lower quality streams it seemed to have weaker color than other units. This makes it clear as day. I hope you're not judging it off the old youtube video because in that video zerg was definitely more painted on. Banelings might shine too much but at the time I was pretty encouraged to make them glow a ton due to frustration in zvz matches. Anyways I'll get back to updating this for Hots beta. I've been out of the SC2 scene for quite a while.

I love the banelings! They're like little glowing balls of neon wonderfulness :D The pink ones especially look like they will explode with candyfloss, yummy!

Aside from the fact that Extractors look like alien circus tents and most of everyone is going to shit bricks when they first see it, this is such an improvement that it would be a sin for Blizzard to not incorporate something of this degree in HotS. Maybe tone down the Extractors a bit though?

I've been out of the SC2 scene for quite a while. It just looks really cartoon-y to me. I think the way the mod should be implemented is making the units more of that color, kind of like if you highlighted the unit in blue or yellow or something. Because right now it just seems that the units have one big solid stripe of color across their bodies.

Can someone teach me how to create my own color mod? ... I like the baneling stuff but the zerg buildings are just horrible :S .... how can i modify it?
thanks
@Spyyder .. your banelings look cool ... your mod is great but the spawning pool looks quite lame

It's interesting, this isn't the type of feedback I've gotten before. I guess it really does need to be toned down then. Just make sure not to play with Alt+F on since Alt+F not just changes your colors but also intensifies them quite a bit.

I don't think this is really a bad mod, cuz in some of the ZvZ battles it is quite hard to see who's ling is who's and the color mod helps with that. I just believe there is a better way to go about it, and to not make it too intense. I think the banelings are done well and pretty much all of the Terran race, but it seems like buildings for Zerg have too much color and I can't really comment on Protoss. I don't remember them too much, sorry. I look forward to the new editions

Yeah you're probably right. There was a lot of things I wanted to try but i'm very limited to the current tools available. When the Startools come out, I'd like to think we're all going to see a lot of cool stuff come out from the community.

Guys zerg is already ugly.
In fact the entire game lost its dark theme from sc:bw T.T
Which, pretty much, makes zerg ugly. So I dont really care how much more silly the game looks, the color mod is fine and adds a lot of verithy lol.
I play on low, watch on ultra, and watch on ultra with the color mod :D

I would prefer a little more different tone, but not so radical color change. I am colorblind and when playing against mirror races is sometimes very hard to know what are my units and what are enemy. In PvP fights I wait for the battle ends and if I can select and move the survival units I think "yeah, I win"

How do I uninstall the color mod? I've played with it for a few months now and quite frankly, i'm sick of looking at it, haha.
Edit: I found how to uninstall, you have to use the auto-installer and click the restore button. You should add this to the OP as well as how to manually uninstall.
