As some of you may know, we’ve been preparing a big update to StarCraft II (patch 1.5) that will introduce a number of welcomed features to the client -- one of which is the ability for us to stream content updates to the game. This will allow for quicker access to a play session (removing the need to wait for patches to fully complete) and remove the need to repair your client files, as they’ll be constantly kept up to date automatically.
One of the unfortunate side effects of streaming is that mods that alter the StarCraft II archive files will no longer function, including color-clarity mods, custom Battle.net background mods, and more. Although these types of archive modifications go against our EULA and can also be used to spread malicious viruses or Trojans, we do understand the merit of many of these features. With the color-clarity issue specifically we actually have a few people on the team who are affected by color-blindness.
The development team is looking into options now to support color clarity and customized backgrounds as well as some of the other mod features. We believe that in the long run, it's best for us to provide an option like stronger team colors within the game, as opposed to an externally modded solution that we can't explicitly support.
We’ll keep the community updated on our progress and appreciate your continued feedback. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6233033364?page=2#23
Yay my thread take over is linked on teamliquid, maybe some one can bring up a valid argument on why it shouldn't be banned.

Well guys, I'm a bit bummed, but pretty happy at the same time. One of the goals of this mod was to get Blizzard to see that something like this is needed and to inspire them to make their own version of it that anyone can have easy access to. At the same time it kind of sucks that this is the end of mods :/ Also, while I definitely wanted to help people with colorblindness, it was also my intention to simply make the game clearer for people who see colors just fine, as I personally have felt that SC2 in general lacked team color. I felt that streams, especially those of lower quality, could use the mod to make games clearer to watch. And of course, improving mirror matches for players was a big focus as well. It's in Blizzards hands now and I'm sure they'll do a much better job than I was able to do with the tools available. Especially to those who felt my mod made the game uglier, I'm sure Blizz will make it to your liking.
Thanks for all the support and I'm glad I was able to help so many people, I never thought it would get so big. Thanks for all the "Thank You"s that I've gotten through PM and on this thread. You guys are awesome.

I really hope they do follow through with adding a color blind mode at least, so many broken blizz promises at this point nothing is certain.

The good thing about Blizzard intending to incorporate it into the client themselves is that maybe then big tournaments can actually consider using it in certain scenarios.
Particularly in ZvZ (and PvP) I think you can get a lot of benefit out of using it since it's often very hard to differentiate units outside of positioning (and it really helps on lq streams).

They have a color blind mode in WoW. It changes a few things, and lists money as 100G 10S 10C Instead of using colored coin icons. I would expect them to deliver on a color blind option as promised.

Does anyone know a reason why we can't just have our own colour settings?
That way everyone can set the colours they choose and see their own team and the opponent the way that suits them best.
I really can't see why this would be so hard. It is not like what my settings are should have any impact on what your settings are (for colour that is). We do it for hotkeys so why not for colour?

I'm pretty excited to see that not only do they want to support the color mod but also the custom backgrounds! We'll have to wait and see about the implementation (which backgrounds, etc.) but very cool nonetheless.

They added a "change health bars to team color" in the options...but then that doesn't let you see at a glance how injured something is. Seems like a silly compromise to make.

Seems like a silly compromise to make. The health bars decay equal to the percentage of the unit's health that is removed by an attack, so that if an attack removes 10% of the unit's health, the health bar will be 90% filled. It's been two years, if you can't figure out that a marine with a half bar of health is half way to death, don't flip the switch on that setting.

Yea I'm sure all they need to do is look in the code somewhere and change ProtossColor=DullRed to BrightRed, omg why don't they just do that programming is so simple!

The only problem with Blizz taking over this feature is that they'll probably take ages to implement it and do a poor job of it at best.

The team colored HP bars is just bad because it's really dark and you can't see how much damage a unit has taken at a glance. I'm using the Stronger Color thing, but on maps like Ohana it's very bad (hurts my eyes because the map is so bright), and even then it's not as effective as the STC.

Really want to see Blizzard implement this officially.

This patch work with the new patch 1.5?
