The single player is looking more WC3 which is really... meh. I love zerg enough to look over it. Really hating the stuff about the market place. I just hope only blizz is the one doing it so they will look like money grubbers to the community.

It seems that the question was asked and answered for a Chinese interview: http://s.163.com/special/sc2_interview/ A rough Google translate: Many people think that as an ornamental StarCraft 2 StarCraft 1, the first problem is the unit of polyethylene reactor, followed by AOE problems, please ask in this regard is how? Dustin: Poly heap on the issue, this is actually a pathfinding engine optimization, as it can make units more easily, and let unit easy to operate. The problem is Starcraft 2 AOE in a "strange" tactics, in a variety of tactics, the surprise move is also an important reason to attract players. Dunno if the translation of the question and answer makes any sense, though.

if WoL was geared towards us hardcore players...man I can hardly imagine what HotS will be like. Because it certainly was not geared toward hardcore BW fans who loved the game for all the subtleties that made it amazingly good... the subtleties that apparently the devs did not understand themselves, or at least failed to see how significant they were to BW's success as the best multiplayer game ever made. My low expectations of HotS weren't low enough apparently as I did not realize they'd be catering more to the casual gamer, and focusing the majority of their efforts on Singleplayer. There's still time for things to change though, I'll just have to wait and see what they cook up for the multiplayer. I really hope they work on improving/changing/reworking existing units as much as the creating new ones, although they've made no mention of doing so. Really I'd just be so much happier already if they removed unit clumping, and made it more like BW where armies would bump into each other and be fairly scattered around rather than moving as a collective blob at the very least, there was this one thing: "For example, the Overseer is not a cool unit, it's basically a glorfied scout at this point. We're looking at either taking out or replacing these units that aren't as cool. The other thing that we need to watch out is how these units interact in combination." I suppose that's a typical Blizzard way of thinking and was to be expected, but nevertheless it's great news. However I don't think a lot of the units that I think aren't as cool don't fit with Blizzard's ideas. Basically most zerg units I feel are pretty uninspired/bland, or some have extremely limited/situational uses. + Show Spoiler [more SC2 ranting] + Ultralisk/hydralisks I'm most concerned about, though I've issues with the boring design/lack of micro options that BW had with most of the other units as well. I really dislike the current design of the hydralisk, high cost but low hp and slow move make for just a terrible combination, it's not fun to use, you can't really micro due to their slow move, fast attack speed, and fast death. In BW you could actually make a lot of use from microing hydras...dodging storms, getting good positionings/spreading quickly, flanking, pulling hurt units to the back. And they were cheap and expendable and weren't so incredibly hard countered by any units. In BW, storm was the strong 'counter' to hydras except that good micro could greatly lessen the effect...colossi don't care how you try to micro them, they always melt them regardless. Ultras have similar problems, they are easily hard countered and their extremely high cost turned suddenly useless by some immortals. They need to steer away from units that suddenly become useless because your opponent was able to get X. I like however the ultralisk in zvz currently..it's vary frightening and there's no really strong/easy answer to them, which is how the ultimate expensive unit should feel...well provided the game gets to that stage which is rare. damn this is just the tip of the iceberg, i could write a book on my issues with sc2..but that's for another thread. I really do hope Blizzard agrees with at least some of these things

And I like that they are going to price HOTS as an expansion. I really thought they would make it a full price game... :p

lan: A: We don't have any intentions to do anything towards that right now. We are listening to that point, but we were talking about lessons learned, we've learned a lot on all fronts, online, we've learned to keep it simple. The online maintenance and service that SC2 requires is more than anything that we've ever tried, and it's a lot harder running a service. We're trying to make sure we streamline where we can, as far as that's concerned. As far as lessons learned, the custom games stuff; we delivered something that we thought was really good, and with the community feedback, we learned that there was a lot of stuff that we could do even better. Some stuff that was awesome, and we'll take those and keep doing them and some of them we can improve. This just makes my heart sink...

Still hope to see the Vulture (or at least Spidermines) back in action I was so happy to read that as well. The thing i would mostly like to see is the colossus scrapped and putting in the reaver or something like that. The gameplay would benefit so much from it.The big siege unit that air units can hit was a cute idea but IMO its just cock blocking stargate tech right now.

Nothing to do with balance there, just bad concept as those units are not as "cool" (© blizz) as they should be or lets say pretty useless/not fun to play with, w/e. Precisely. The fact that they're willing to replace units rather than just adding is very good and helps promote faith in Blizzard's design skills. Races can have too many units, and it's important that Blizzard is aware of this and willing to ensure that units all have some legitimate purpose. Essentially, Blizzard is giving themselves 3 chances to design Starcraft II. And that's not a bad thing. WoL has effectively been kind of a beta for HotS, and HotS will serve as a beta for LotV. By then, Blizzard will really know how to make different things work. I'd even add a few other units like the Hellion or the Roach to that list. It's not that these units aren't useful; they most certainly are. But Blizzard could swap them out for something that is just as useful and far more interesting gameplay-wise.
