I wonder if making overlords being able to detect might be a thing they are doing. That part of the QA was the most interesting. As they talked about "failed" units like the overseer. What units do you think blizzard considered failures? Probably the ones that have seen little use of their intended mechanics. I'd imagine that the raven falls under that catagory to a lesser extent. You don't really see people getting ravens as a part of their grand scheme, outside of detection requirements. There are some PDD timings, kinda like there was this contaminate timing a while back, but they're not used that often.

We loved doing the choices, and they felt really cool effect was cool we're really looking for a cool superhero vibe replacing these units that aren't as cool the Overseer is not a cool unit I'm not sure if the devourer is a cool enough unit cool to have a unit that is able to jump cliffs What is with them and the word "cool"? It's like the buzzword of the century according to Blizz. Notice how many times they use it when talking about units? Dont really like this mindset from Browder.

Was dubious about a lot of the single-player details though, until I saw the art. Reading about Kerrigans interactions with her minions made it sounds like they were trying to paste the WOL campaign onto a Zerg setting despite them not being compatible, but the art at least makes the HOTS campaign look like its got more of an 'alien' feel to it that suits a Zerg campaign.

Course I do; Kerrigan took over the swarm, killing most of the cerebrates that opposed her, and later killing the rest she did not need... except for of course... you (a cerebrate!). Hell iirc, she lead the protoss a helping hand in killing some, and a underdeveloped overmind. Thus resulting in the most iconic line for kerrigan in brood war; and with all the other shit they've been pulling out, im more then certain they could say "Oh! But here were a few cerebrates who were making an overmind on aiur..."

I like the honesty from the Blizzard guys in this interview. Flat out admittting where they made bad judgements in their game design rather then giving PR responses.

I kinda get that, They were intending for the raven to be support, but it never became anything more than a detection mule, and every once in a while it is used for an all in timing attack. Its abilities, while cool, were never extremely useful, interesting, or scalable(PDD). The overseer is sort of a failed unit just because as the blizzard guy said, its nothing but scout/detection and its abilities are largely useless. I'm not sure if other units qualify, but we will see what happens with that.

Most of the original devs that made the Blizzard games which cemented Blizz' reputation of being awesome have left over the years. This is probably the least "wtf" answer for me because at least they're admitting they have no idea.

The Overmind really made it feel like you played the Swarm and not some random alien race... I and many others completely agree with this sentiment. Hell all the races felt like you were part of a greater power instead of playing a small role with a small group in a big world. We went from being magistrates, Executors and even cerebrates to becoming Raynors invisible hand or Kerrigan. Too individualised for me.

Story/lore wise, it's a little bit troubling that the Zerg now have internal politics since it just makes them alien people instead of The Swarm, and I swear to god those two missions are pulled out of WC3. Next missions Mal'Ganis is going to appear and trick Kerrigan into releasing a big dumb sword from some ice. I completely agree, the first mission detailed is the culling of stratholme slightly modified. I mean the concept is not a bad one, and I bet it will be a fun mission, but its not really original. I kind of feel like SC2 is resembling WC3 in many aspects, which isn't necessarily good.
