Admittedly, the Editor and some of the things done with it are impressive. But that's no justification for the horrible concept of a "SC2 Marketplace" to sell people things on. It's "simply" ActiBlizzes attempt to repeat the re-skinned glowing horse from WoW the imbeciles bought up for $25 in masses, generating an income of millions of dollars within days.
Also, I know this sounds harsh and distrusting of the company in general but their main interest is profit and nothing but, I doubt that this would be as rewarding a cut of their income as designing a popular map or hat in TF2. Two different games, one shared concept - "Sell the users what the users made, make profit off of it and give a bit back so they can't complain".
I disagree with the marketplace just being an idea to milk the franchise for more money. Admittedly they will probably sell some stupid collectible stuff on there that will ultimately have no game play use. However, I see a great opportunity for the custom games community here. If a map making team sells a map that they put a lot of time and effort into to make it polished and extremely fun to play, they have a chance to be rewarded for that. Also people paying for a good map will be more inclined to play it often especially if there is support for an external ladder/ranking system like SoTIS.
I just think the whole marketplace will grow the custom map community to new heights, which I am really excited about (in addition to new melee multiplayer changes).
Whoever came up with this Vodoo/Ghost Dreadlikestyle Kerrigan......it looks so fucking retarded compared to the Infested or even the pre-Infested Kerrigan.
Both are done by the same guy.
I never liked the Queen of Blades design tbh. I like her retconned pre-infestation design the best.
A: We typically don't provide details about pricing until the game is closer to release. We do view Heart of the Swarm as an expansion set, so for the regions that have a standard box business model such as North America and Europe, we will price accordingly. For other regions that have alternative business models, we’ll provide details at a later date.
Meaning, $39.99! (Or $30 like BW if i can remember correctly) Come and get the expansion set! Really, we just paied $60 for 1/3 of the game = ( Now we has to pay even more for 2/3 damn it.
WoL was not 1/3 of a game, its like saying Star Wars: A New Hope was only 1/3 of a movie...it was one game in what amounts to a trilogy. They use the term expansion, but SC1 and BW were two different games pretty much.
Yet, i'm pretty sure you need the original installed to play BW = (
I'm seeing a lot of what was said in the recorded interview being taken out of context.
"We know you're out there we know your passionate about the single player experience(...)we're trying to get that message out.
"Campaign is that area where you can get people to think its not that (hardcore game) and you can sit down and maybe even use just your mouse"
Everyone laughs and curses. Its a obvious joke. But a lot of people aren't getting the context. They aren't referring to the multiplayer at all O.O They aren't even referring to the campaign on hard/brutal settings.

Yeah, just like half the apps in the apple app store isn't abandonware put out there to earn a quick buck with a quanitity over quality mindset.
No, what this will lead to is mapmakers making more maps and not supporting them, so they can earn more money. Right now you can easily copy and rerelease someone else's work. How do they plan on fixing that? Are mapmakers going to have to buy a copy in every region to put their work in every region? What about offshoots? You can't sell a metal slug hommage custom map, that's copyright infringement. Who are they going to pay to sift through these maps?
Honestly, I doubt the feature will even release. There's way too many technical difficulties for the feature.
I can't believe Blizzard has the audacity to claim they're learning from their mistakes and meanwhile completely ignores their biggest mistake to date. The only thing that comes close as far as giant idiotic mistakes go is no cross region support which it seems everyone has finally given up on.
Can't wait to buy 2 copies of this cruddy expansion just so I can play with friends.
I really hope they add the ability to watch replays together in Bnet 2 (you know, like you could 10 years ago in bw) and the replays get transferred to everyone watching. It's pretty sad that you have to use 3rd party websites or email to share replays and then have to try stay in sync (because different cpu's will run the game slightly faster or slower)
Every time I watch friendsday wednesday and hear day9 saying "we're at 9 minutes, starting in 3 - 2 - 1, I am reminded this should have been in the game from day 1.
As far as the marketplace, big tournaments like MLG and GSL will be able to endlessly update their map pools, and then charge people to get official versions of the maps. Very bad IMO.
Marketplace is a bad idea imo. The idea on a whole comes across to me as a few good maps COST to play and theres a wasteland of crap that is free. I hope I'm wrong.
They say they listen to the community for balance and what we like and don't but I'm concerned what community means. If the Starcraft 2 official forums are any indication we are all doomed. I'd like to think TL has a more intelligent (through moderation of course) community but do they really have a dedicated person to read all the ideas that come up here every day?
What about everywhere? How could they actually listen to the community? I fear they just hear the loudest and closest people despite others with better feedback. (I.E. balancing around bronze league)
I hope they remove the overseer and just give all overlords detection.
And it's nice (if true) that they are going with the expansion route instead of full fledged game. 20 Missions and maybe a few extra units isn't worth 60$, so I hope they don't try to charge that much.
As long as there's defilers in there I'll be happy.

WoL had around 25 missions(I believe) and had various basic RTS tutorials included in these missions. I assume HotS won't have these basics tutorials so it comes out to roughly the same amount of SP missions. The MP sounds to be a rather big reworking. So if you counted WoL as a full game based on content then you should count HotS a full game based on content. If you add in engine dynamics then sure you can look at it differently.
