After 8 house tournaments and a grueling Top 8 bracket against the house winners, July has emerged on top and claimed himself an all-expense-paid trip to compete at MLG Columbus!

How The Top 8 Came To Be
Representing the Incredible Miracle house we have Junwi, who managed to take out the Zerg power house LosirA in IM’s house finals to secure his spot in the final 8. July came out on top in the StarTale tournament eliminating teammates Squirtle, Virus and Ace. After an epic 16-player series in the SlayerS house, Taeja managed his sprint to victory, taking out Frozen in the finals to join July and Junwi.
During the NSHoseo in-house tournament, SanZenith demonstrated an absolutely dominating performance against his team-mates, taking out Tassadar in a surprisingly exciting PvP best-of-3 to finish up the night. In an amazing night of games at the MVP house, GuineaPig the random player managed to show commanding position over his companions, taking out Keen in the finals with an impressive TvT performance.
ZerO was able to defeat his teammate CoCa in the finals of the ZeNEX house in extreme fashion to take the next step forward. Moving on to team The SCV Life, we had a fantastic display from Killer, able to qualify for the final 8 by eliminating players such as TricksteR and Clide from the running. Finally MarineKing was able to show everyone he is a force to be reckoned with during the Prime in-house tournament, as he took out his exceptionally strong Protoss team member Anypro in the final.
With this impressive lineup of players, it’s anyone’s game going into the CotH: Top 8. One thing is for certain; whoever wins is sure to show us an amazing performance at MLG. But first, let’s take a closer look at our 8 house representatives...

Junwi has been a dark horse in terms of the IM house, over-shadowed by players such as LosirA, Mvp and Nestea. However pulling a win out of the hat during the IM CotH secured him a place for the final 8 after beating a very strong LosirA in the final.
With many GSL appearances under his belt, Junwi has been stuck in Code-A for a while, unable to perform when it really matters during live events. That being said, Junwi brought the fury to the IM CotH and looks to bring even more to the final 8 bracket, hungry for that MLG Columbus spot.
A man who certainly needs no introduction to GSL fans, JulyZerg was a power house in Brood War and continues to show amazing performances here in Starcraft 2. Being one of the only players ever to win a Golden Mouse during Brood War, the “God of War” burst on to the Starcraft 2 scene during GSL 3, rocketing through the ranks to finally acquire second place in GSL 5 Code-S.
With tenacious and ruthless play, once he senses blood in the water he goes for the kill, even though he’s playing what some consider the Macro race. Despite his unprecedented aggression, July is able to not only play the requisite Macro game, but convincingly enough to compete with top economy players such as oGsTOP and Nestea. Having been drawn in the “Group of Death” for GSL 5, and even after losing to MC, July was still able to come back in an amazing series versus Mvp to move further in the tournament, only to meet up with MC yet again in the finals.
July is certainly a favourite going in to the final 8 of CotH, but considering the competition with players like San and MarineKing, will he be able to keep it together and pull the victory?
Taeja’s presence in GSL history thus far has been minimal, having only qualified for the first GSL and none since. However, after impressive performances during the GSTL it’s obvious that Taeja as a whole is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to crunch time.
Showing everyone during the SlayerS CotH that he’s no slouch, Taeja was able to defeat the likes of Frozen, Alicia and Golden to secure his spot in the final 8. Will Taeja be able to take home the glory and the MLG Columbus spot, as some consider him an under-dog now and even during the SlayerS CotH, where he surprised us all.
Initially appearing to the world as generally a bad player, San went away with an unimpressive GSL run under his belt and increased his skill ten-fold. With fantastic decision making, micro and macro, San has become a monster of Starcraft 2 as he continues to do well in Code-S, leading by example for the rest of his team.
Initially chosen as he was considered a “free win” by Nestea for his group during GSL 5, San after an amazing performance was able to beat the GSL 2 champion in convincing fashion, only to be defeated by MC in the semi-finals, a Protoss who many consider to have one of the best PvP’s in the entire world.
Shortly after MC in an interview praised San as one of the best Protoss players in the world, an accolade which is hard to come by in the volatile and competitive world that is Starcraft 2. San continues to improve from GSL to GSL and looks to take those improvements in to the final 8 of Clash of the Houses.
zerO once again is another player who’s presence is yet to be felt in the GSL, but outside it he has been having great success. During the Zotac Team League he was able to secure an all-kill against oGs and IM, taking out players such as MC and Mvp in what some could consider the performance of a life time, which ultimately gave ZeNEX the first place trophy back in January.
As zerO managed to plow through his team mates during the ZeNEX CotH, it’s obvious that this rising star will eventually be a Protoss force to be reckoned within. Can he show us all what he’s made of now and take with win for MLG Columbus?
From humble beginnings, the MVP team as of late have been making quite a name for themselves with Keen and viOlet being promoted to Code S in the last GSL as well as an impressive performance in the most recent GSTL, barely taking 2nd to SlayerS. GuineaPig has been relatively quiet up until recently, where he was able to take out both Keen and viOlet in the MVP CotH, in mirror matches no less, for a decisive victory despite the “disadvantage” of playing random. GuineaPig has shown us he has a fantastic understanding of all the match-ups, but can he carry this success over against the other house finalists?
Killer (a.k.a. SangHo) was originally part of the team eSTRO from his Brood War days, however due to being accused of a match fixing scandal in 2010 (which he was found innocent of) and his father being ill, he decided to retire from Brood War to pursue other endeavours.
Eventually Killer returned with a fresh mind for Starcraft 2, where he initally returned under the name BabyByeBye, eliminating TLO no less in his first ever GSL match, putting Killer back on the map. Since then our Protoss player has gone on through Code-A with stellar performances and qualified for Code-S, where during a heated PvP match-up against who many consider the best PvP player in the world, oGsInCa, was taken out 0-3 despite playing extremely well.
Killer now looks on to secure what could be the biggest accolade of his Starcraft 2 career, a win here propelling him on to MLG Columbus where he could bring his full Protoss fury to the west.
Another player needing no introduction, MarineKing has been utterly superb since the word go after breaking on to the scene as FoxeR (a.k.a. Fake BoxeR). With an impressive string of wins under his belt, the number 1 spot has eluded him many a time, provoking many of his fans to dub him “SilverKing”, barely losing out to Nestea and Mvp in exciting series in the GSL.
Initially renowned for his excellent Marine control and splits, MarineKing eventually branched out to encompass an amazing variety of strategic know-how as he continues his Terran dominance even to this day. Having controlled the Korean ladder for many months on several alternate accounts, MarineKing seems to pull off everything that was initially said to be impossible and one day hopes to take a major title for his own with his tenacious desire.
