Even if you don't pay attention to what's being said, almost nothing came close to rhyming (except during Husky's part where he had a few words rhyming). Take a page from Temp0 here. "It works on so many levels"? How many levels does this work on exactly, and what are they? That doesn't make the song great. Maybe for you. I agree, which is way I find it disappointing that his voice went to waste with this song. Thank you captain obvious. This has nothing to do with the quality of the song. Quality is entirely subjective. Please stop being a hypercritical douche and enjoy the song like most normal people have.

What is not subjective is, for example, whether or not the words rhyme, something I addressed in my post. The post you just quoted was not meant as a critical appraisal of the song anyway but as a reply to aths and you should take it as such.

Just seemed unoriginal from a group that had much better "hits".

Your comment implied in a way that it wasn't ok to be of the opinion that the video was awful, when it's perfectly legitimate to feel that way. On July 12 2011 02:24 kwizach wrote: Why would you say that an effort was not made? I consider it quite a task to come up with lyrics so poor they can be considered a real "Friday" parody. As Nerd Alert made already some original songs, we know they are capable of writing good lyrics. I think it is obvious that the lyrics are intended to be poor and it actually requires quite some effort to get it that poor and sing it without laughing inbetween because of the silliness.Erm, I know Temp0's song isn't a Friday parody. The point is that Temp0 managed to come up with good rhymes, an effort that was not made in this song. I don't really know why you're trying to explain to me that Kurt switched to Protoss, that has absolutely nothing to do with what we're discussing. Again, nothing prevented them from making a Friday parody with good rhymes. On July 12 2011 02:24 kwizach wrote: I added some extra stuff once I decided to cut out the text why that scene works on many levels.Excuse me but you seem unable to focus on what we're talking about. Only your first two sentences are relevant, the rest of what you just said has nothing to do with what I wrote. In the Friday video, both the occupants of the car and the singer are enthusiastic. In this video, only the occupants of the car are enthusiastic and Husky is like... "whatever". I did find his expression funny but it doesn't "work on so many levels". It's just a funny expression since it contrasts with those of the car occupants, that's it. Void Rays mimickes some details of the Friday son, like the "come in" gesture of one of the friends, but also – as I understand it – parodies the awkward face expression of the girl next to Rebecca Black. Husky's face is both playing a role (being un-impressed by Void Rays) as well as commenting on the Friday extra's performance (not approving it) in the sense he is in the position of Rebecca Black and seeing his "friends" behaving so strange. It also is just a "counter" to Rebecca Black who tried to look exited in her role as being picked up by her friends as she was waiting for the bus. That is a fourth layer, comment on the continuency issue of the original lyrics. Maybe I interpret too much, it still works on more than one level. On July 12 2011 02:24 kwizach wrote: I think, the critique should be given in a constructive way. I see little actual suggestions here how the video could have be done better while staying true to Nerd Alert's intention of making a Friday parody. The part where Kurt freaked out and danced as he describes his game success with Void Rays celebrates the joy of a lower level player who has worked out an working (in lower leagues) strategy. That is what's the song about, I think. Can't one praise Husky for what he's done for the community and at the same time voice his opinion that this video isn't very good? I am not disputing that simply posting "awful" is offending, but I don't see what people would not be entitled to their opinion simply because they did not like it and felt like commenting. I also think we all would like to get new Nerd Alert songs. We should encourage them to continue. Most replies here do not encourage Nerd Alert in any way. ... and since it is a Friday parody, I wonder why you find it "disappointing" he used Autotune even though his voice sounds worse when autotuned. It is intended no not show Kurt's real capabilities of singing. The lyrics are intended to have rhyme issues and to look like the song has been written in a rush. On July 12 2011 02:24 kwizach wrote: I see much "criticism" which contains very few words and also don't look like any effort was made to detail the bad things. Let me give you some examples.I don't think I've seen anyone denigrate the quality of the production - in fact most people have been praising it. Most of the people who gave negative feedback are simply saying that in their opinion the song wasn't that good and the parody came too late for them. That's a simple message to Nerd Alert: put more effort into making songs that are listenable, and if you're going to make a parody don't be too late otherwise it loses comedic value for some people. I'm happy for you that you liked it, but you claimed that you did not understand negative comments and proceeded to argue that those being negative were essentially wrong. This led me to reply because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and there is certainly much room for criticism here. On July 12 2011 16:49 Boundz(DarKo) wrote: Nope, this was crap. it was just so much more clever and the lyrics just flowed more and it's 'story' was more thought out. and since the original songs friday and baby sound so similar it makes the void rays song so much weaker

Not as good as banelings... BUT! they definitely win on production quality. Keep up the good work guys! I think this one wasnt as good because there is only so much you can do with the structure of friday.
