Pros: + The production quality is fantastic, no argueing here. Cons: - inane lyrics, horrific parody - autotuned singing, godawful rapping by the guy who looks like an ugly parody of Justin Bieber - overused, 3 chord 'music' made on a computer with no instruments involved All in all your generic pop song that gets half a billion hits on youtube. Check out Temp0Starcraft. Far less production value but much smarter lyrics and more soul.

- Lyrics are rather meh, I feel like the lyrics would have made more sense back in beta or something when people actually did mass voidrays only and won. - Rap part is rather bad, can't match itself with the baneling song. - Not very funny - Parody feeling really is not there, sure, music sort of sound the same but thats about it.

To those saying the song sounds just like Banelings, the progression and overall sound of the original 'Friday' video is actually extremely close to the original Baby. Also, having the same singer sing both songs is going to make them sound a lot a lot alike. This was something we knew going ahead with production of the song and we expected them to be similar. The song is continuing an on-going 'battle' between my character and Kurts. For that reason we wanted the song to be similar in some ways but catchy in its own right. As for 'you are a month too late', thats just how we roll! We made a Baby parody years after everyone had already rushed to make theirs. I enjoy taking songs that I think are catchy and putting our own spin on it. I dont follow any time table on when I think a song should be released, just when I feel the time is right. Overall this video was a huge personal project of mine and I am very proud of it. I see Rebecca Black as a huge accidental troll so I like to encourage her to keep up with her making-nerds-rage ways. We currently have 5 other songs in the works. Some parodies, some with hot girls, and some original songs that I hope you will all enjoy in the future. Thanks again for all the support!

+ Show Spoiler + I too felt the lyrics were a bit weak but then again the original song sucked so bad it's kinda hard to make something incredibly shit at all clever. Also i feel the timing wasn't as good. For one thing i don't feel Void Rays have really been OP enough to warrant a song about them in like... since the game came out and people massed them all the time and everyone sucked? Also it's Rebecca Black. It's been done a million times. If you didn't jump on the Friday bangwagon months ago then you're kinda beating a dead horse. Because of that i'm less enthusiastic about this one than the others (especially Banelings, loved that one :D) but it was still very well done and i enjoyed it and i always look forward to these :D

- mediocre intro. - boring lyrics. - overall not catching. - friday has been beaten to dead. - not a song, where i think, lets listen that again, like for instance 4gate friday parody, or banelings. Not to sound to negative, some positives: - some parts of the video are quite funny - people putting in the effort, you cant like every song anyways.

i love sc songs, they're all in my playlist! thank you guys for all your creativity! in fact, my ring tone is the one that's kesha's tik tok remake that starts like this "wake up in the morning feeling like jaedong..." and almost ends in "why the fuck did you make a scout?!?..."

But is there any poll about which song is best? Because I for example didnt like this VR that much, and best was imo that one about Woo - I really loved that one! If there is no poll someone should really make one.

No unit is OP duh, I am sure, without any SC2 knowledge. They used the Void Ray because it rhymes with Friday, because it parodies the typical one-trick-pony player type and not to make an accustic balance statement. And probably also to make fun of all the OP whiners. Furthermore.... nvm back to my BW forum :D

Sen vs MC game 4 featured some interesting void ray usage that had a few people crying even all these months later I like these videos. I did feel the void rays for every day of the week was a bit awkward though. Overall it was very enjoyable and it's good that people can become more exposed to SC2. I saw youtube comments were users were explaining to others what Void rays are.

The best thing about these guys' other songs is that they're genuinely enjoyable as music, yes, even the Justin Bieber one in a twisted kind of way. No matter what Kurt Schneider does, even he can't make me want to listen to the Friday tune more than once.

Some complain about the poor lyrics. As I see it, the lyrics were made to be poor because it is a Friday parody. To make the lyrics that poor, you need to put a lot of effort in. The part where Husky was picked up by his friends was great, as – in opposite to Friday – he was the one who acted strange, not the guys in the car. At the same time, some weird behavior from Friday car occupants were mimicked, too. It works on so many levels. Also what makes the song great is that it picks up the idea of many casual gamer, than one just need to abuse a single powerful unit type. On top of this, Kurt's voice is great, even with Autotune. It also continues the story which was began with Banelings. Kurt is still trying to abuse a single unit and it works until he meets Husky again, who plays the part of the better gamer. If I remember correctly, in real life Husky actually plays Protoss, but the song tells a story and is no documentary.

A least "Brotoss" in one lines to get a rhyme at all?" At the weekday countdown part, where it was all "Void Rays", I thought it is now working. Even if you don't pay attention to what's being said, almost nothing came close to rhyming (except during Husky's part where he had a few words rhyming). Take a page from Temp0 here. Temp0's song (if you talk about "When I'm Grand Master") is no Friday parody. The "Void Rays" bad rhymes (for example "Protoss" with "Protoss") are obviously intentional. It works for this song. At first I was irritated "Were they not able to come up with an actual rhyme? A least "Brotoss" in one lines to get a rhyme at all?" At the weekday countdown part, where it was all "Void Rays", I thought it is now working. The song describes Kurt, who switched from Zerg to Terran (as he told at the end of "Banelings") now to Protoss, is obsessed with Protoss and Void Rays. The Protoss-Protoss-part also correlates with the original Friday. "kicking in the front seat sitting in the back seat" – it does not really rhyme. While many Friday parodies improved the lyrics, Nerd Alert didn't. TempO's Knaan parody has some lyrics issues, too. He wildly changes topics within a verse and some parts still don't rhyme. But still the song works as a whole. Erm, I know Temp0's song isn't a Friday parody. The point is that Temp0 managed to come up with good rhymes, an effort that was not made in this song. I don't really know why you're trying to explain to me that Kurt switched to Protoss, that has absolutely nothing to do with what we're discussing. Again, nothing prevented them from making a Friday parody with good rhymes. Watch the car occupants in the original "Friday" and how akward they behave. While "When I'm Grand Master" contains a lot of SC insider jokes, "Void Rays" can be understood by any Bronze level player who don't follows GSL, because he still knows the Void Ray and the Thor. As Kurt heard "Thor! is! here!", Husky was cut in, performing a funny pose. Also many cut-ins of the third Nerd Alert guy ("Yeah!") are funny. I don't think I've seen anyone denigrate the quality of the production - in fact most people have been praising it. Most of the people who gave negative feedback are simply saying that in their opinion the song wasn't that good and the parody came too late for them. That's a simple message to Nerd Alert: put more effort into making songs that are listenable, and if you're going to make a parody don't be too late otherwise it loses comedic value for some people. I'm happy for you that you liked it, but you claimed that you did not understand negative comments and proceeded to argue that those being negative were essentially wrong. Void Rays mimickes some details of the Friday son, like the "come in" gesture of one of the friends, but also – as I understand it – parodies the awkward face expression of the girl next to Rebecca Black. Husky's face is both playing a role (being un-impressed by Void Rays) as well as commenting on the Friday extra's performance (not approving it) in the sense he is in the position of Rebecca Black and seeing his "friends" behaving so strange. It also is just a "counter" to Rebecca Black who tried to look exited in her role as being picked up by her friends as she was waiting for the bus. That is a fourth layer, comment on the continuency issue of the original lyrics. Maybe I interpret too much, it still works on more than one level. On July 12 2011 02:24 kwizach wrote: I think, the critique should be given in a constructive way. it was just so much more clever and the lyrics just flowed more and it's 'story' was more thought out. and since the original songs friday and baby sound so similar it makes the void rays song so much weaker
