Whenever you hit post in this thread, think long and hard. Are you showing the proper amount of respect? If that is not the case, do not hit the post button. |
I didn't bother reading anything other than the OP, i'm sure this thread is filled with people arguing with each other...
all I want to say is good luck eve + slayers ^>^ There's nothing wrong with anything that you have done other than expect better from the internet
|
I was not really sure what to you think about this controversy, it's clear that the way it was presented it looked like a bit of an overaction, but you convinced me that your reaction was legitimate. I hope slayers_eve will learn and become a good player that can play on televised game, maybe putting her that quick on the spotlight was a small mistake (unfortunately you have to expect these kind of reactions). I think it's a good thing that you took action against the most disgusting things (you can call people name on the internet, however photoshoping the face on a pornstart is not acceptable...). I hope slayers_eve was not too disapointed/scared by this controversy, and good luck for slayers in GSTL .

So, if someone was gay, they should continue complaining about this? I can't believe this is your best argument in support of Eve. It makes no sense, it's mildly offensive, and portrays an attitude that contradicts why Eve was allowed to join Slayers - to help foster a more diverse gaming environment.

In other words, Alicia didn't make it into SlayerS because of just being good (having lost in the recruitment tournament) - he made it in because he was lucky enough to run into BoxeR in the past so that BoxeR could form a good opinion of him. There very well may have been plenty of other more-deserving players (if you go by skill as the only factor for deserving recruitment). And, you definitely don't "earn" BoxeR evaluating you as someone with potential - you simply have that potential or you don't. Thus, I don't really see how "earning" recruitment has to do with anything. Alicia was recruited for skill and potential, which are important. Eve was picked up because she's a girl, which is not important. Unless, of course, you're goal is to explicitly promote eSports amongst females.

I support Slayers_Jessica.
I know alot of people non korean will find the measure to sue one another for cyber bullying too drastic and out of proportion but as we know its a cultural thing but above all i think its a gesture , a protest against all the internet hate which seems to be everywhere and its reeally shows how petty people are on the internet.

Except Eve also won a female tournament, meaning that skill definitely came into consideration. It's not like SlayerS would just pick up some Bronze-league girl (which they would do, if they ONLY cared about gender). And how do you know that they didn't also see potential in Eve?
Quoted DIRECTLY from the OP:
It has been less than a month since Eve joined the team. She was not selected through the pro-gamer casting system, but she is someone I selected for the team to help start having female competitors in Starcraft 2, after seeing that she had sufficient potential.
Sounds like potential also came into consideration.
I feel like you're looking at the gender angle so intently because it's the most glaring issue, that you forget that skill and potential did indeed also come into play.

And if it's important to Slayers, that's their choice. Why should you care how they run their team? It's not as if she has played any matches, or taken someones spot in foreign tournaments, or anything ...

I'm also guessing the SlayerS house has a finite capacity, so Eve being there means someone else can't be.
Wow that's a lot of speculation on how their team operates. Do we even know if Eve is staying at the SlayerS house? We know that SlayerS Dragon isn't. If you're going to assume that whoever practices with her isn't going to gain anything then MC, Nestea, etc probably shouldn't bother with anyone that haven't placed well in tournaments? That's a pretty grim way to look at things. Fine, if it's going to be like that, I'll remove examples and make this as definitive as possible. Slayers has limited resources. Eve consumes those resources. There are fewer resources left for others.
Even so, there are plenty of teams both foreign and Korean with under performing players. Aren't they taking up resources? Shouldn't they be booted in place for better players? I don't think so but those decisions are up to the managers of the individual teams.
By your logic there shouldn't be welfare or social security programs. I don't know about you, but as we are both Canadians - I'm thankful for my free healthcare.
