Whenever you hit post in this thread, think long and hard. Are you showing the proper amount of respect? If that is not the case, do not hit the post button. |
This is really not a good sign for how female players will be treated.

I <3 mods
this thread is getting out of control with the talk about homosexuals and stuff, has nothing to do with the post about SlayerS

I personally appreciate you coming here and giving your side of the story, even though I had already had assumed this was the way it had went down.
Know that although the foreign scene may have its fair share of trolls, the large majority are quiet supporters. We appreciate your effort to expand the scene, and we all love the SlayerS team. I am glad to see you are not giving in to pressure and continuing forward with the lawsuit; justice needs to be served especially in the case of sexual assault.
Good luck to all of SlayerS team in the future, both in and out of the game!

Great post Jessica A lot of people here on TL do not understand the cultural differences between some countries and you did a great job portraying that to us while still coming off as classy!
Go Slayers!

Just ignore the stupid post about being gay and just support Jessica for protecting Eve and support Eve on her new progaming venture with one of the best, if not the best, Starcraft 2 teams out there.
I guess so. Just so many people say so many things then try to pretend they did not. Whether or not Eve "deserves" to be on the team, I hope she works hard to justify her spot and ignores the negativity. I'm somewhat undecided on the whole "let's take the girl diamond player, not the GM male" thing, but I hope she does well anyway - the easiest way out of all this is to prove herself a capable progamer.
I'll stay out of this thread now, too - it doesn't seem like the right place to have the whole affirmative action yay/nay giant debate. (edit: mods have now formalized this with a warning)

Big Slayers fan, I hope that Eve gets a respite from all of the flack that she's getting. Hopefully spending so much practice time with MMA, Boxer, et al turns her into a solid progamer, and helps bring more gamer girls out of the woodwork.
And seriously guys? Does gaming really have to be a guys club? Personally, I would love it if the fairer gender was involved in our community as more than just sex symbols and punchlines. (hello Tossgirl)

First I must say I didn´t catch the discussion about Eve but I must disagree on this part with you. In almost every sports females are a bit inferior to males. Computergames I don´t see a reason that should not be the case, I see no point that might be (if I´m wrong please tell me, I don´t want so say "they are for sure as good as males").
I think the only reason you don´t see them at the top that they don´t have the chance or will to be progamers due to bad resonance from a male dominated sports. So giving some females the chance to train with pros and become better, the support from community, might bring them out of the sinking (sorry, don´t now a good word for that, I hope that´s appropriate). Time will tell if I´m and Slayers are right but I´m sure they deserve the chance.

A link of interest to this whole thing. It's unfortunate, but she'll have to put up with a lot. "The best way to combat the slurs from the opposing players was to beat them on the field." Best of luck to Slayers and Eve.

really appreciate that you took the time to come here and so extensively explain the whole situation, it's really sad that people are able to do things like this. Know that for every troll and bully there are 10 fans on TL that do support you.
The effort you and the SlayerS team are taking to improve and expand E-sports is amazing and it just increases my respect for the team and it's members. You guys have always been my favorite team and this just makes me want to support you guys more.
keep up the awesome work and i hope great thing will come to the SlayerS team in the future

It would have been harder to point it out clearer I said that only a gay could care less about her sex You did not say that. You said that if you are angry, you must be gay. That logically implies that if you are not gay (straight), then you cannot be angry that she was selected. But why would that be? What changes between gay and straight people? Oh, sexual attraction to women. So you are isolating sexual attraction as being required in order to be happy ("not angry") that she was selected. This is just basic logic that leads to that final statement, which basically reduces her to a sexual object rather than a starcraft player joining a team on merit. User was warned for this post
No way mate. You are saying that I am reducing someone that I have said I respect and have confidence in to a sexual object? I <3 Jessica and Eve Jessica for starting a movement which resembles the de-segregation of the South and Eve for being that first strong subject to take the first step in uncharted territory by women.

major plus for everything that has been said. i agree completely and this girl deserves some damn respect. slayers fighting!

I dont understand why gender should play any role in whether you have what it takes to be a pro gamer. Are females genetically worse at SC2? Or is it more the fact that most SC2 players are male. Yes Jessica it is nice to encourage woman, however this is probably the worst way to do it. Bringing a diamond player onto a pro gaming team is quite poor judgement. I have 4 friends of mind that are chicks and can at least hit masters(on NA which is probably diamond on korea), They wouldnt dare consider joining a pro team until they improve to at least a mid-high masters level because they wouldnt want to get embarassed and practicing against far superior opponents would not be very productive(I could be wrong about this though),

People who are mad about these types of things will be weeded out eventually. I feel like too many people in the community are just here because Starcraft is new and exciting to them. Give it a few years and I believe there will be far less of this because they will move on to the next big game. I also wish there these types of laws in America. People are rarely held responsible for their words. Think about how much the country would change if people actually had to think before they said something, or if the news was legally obligated to tell the truth.

I was warned because, as a veteran of these forums, I should have known better than to waste my time arguing with you. That's what the mods said in their PM warning - forget this guy, keep it on topic, you've been here and you know better.
And I'm out.

A very thoughtful post. Slayers is my favorite Korean team and I hope they get past all this needless drama. Slayers Boxer and Jessica Fighting! Also, turn Eve into a sick beast; that would be amazing.

I've only read the first messege from SlayerS_Jessica, not the whole thread and so would like to reply only to it. Also, I hope that Jessica gets to read this or someone else will translate this for her. I also apologise for my awfull english.
I feel sorry for what I've heard about whats happening in Korea. It's really sad how so many people can be so offensive to others without reason, and it shocks me they'd also aim it at SlayerS_Eve for no reason. It is really disgustfull how some people in Korea have offended and abused Eve, and (almost) equelly disgusting that some foreigners have decided to sent hate-mail to the SlayerS Team for Jessicas decision. It is just wrong. I want to express my full support for Jessicas decisions. It is just right that she want's to protect Eve, plus the offenders deserve to be sued (their action were outright horrible, and a crime).
I am really unshure what to say, but I want to give Jessica, Eve and the entire SlayerS Team cheers and kind word for everything they are doing :-) I really like the idea that they want to make way for female pro-gamers, and hope to see Eve in future (foreigner ) tournaments doing good againts the males. Will be cheering! (Also, Jessica, keep up the attitude, you sound like a honest and good person)
Cheers from Slovakia! (central Europe)
