Are people here thinking EVE is bad because she's a girl? Or is it because she only Diamond and she only has potential to win?
Don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of teams out there that recruit people they know/ people that didn't even do well and became well known llke alicia.
Anyone here want to bring about KESPA II and make people go through progamer lisence to join a team? Anyone? OKAY.

No doubt Eve will also "entertain" the crowd in one way or the other.
I HONESTLY do not see the problem in her joining Slayers, nor do I see a problem with Slayers Jessica fighting off anti's. Give Eve sometime... If in a couple months she proves to have nothing "unique" about her games and all they are are just macro-fests with no extra spice added on, then I'd be happy to withdraw my "very important" statement (sarcasm about my opinion in this holding any water at all) but I still believe Eve will perform well. In fact, because of all this criticism she's receiving, I feel like she'd be motivated to show us a great game, full of micro and unorthodox play.
Best wishes to Slayers The problem is she hasn't shown anything, she is undeserving of a spot in slayers because she is not a good player. I don't care if she can improve, they could of taken in anyone and they would improve in the environment team SlayerS has. You missed the whole point surrounding this argument... So you're saying she's undeserving because she isn't good in the NOW. I don't see why Slayers has to conform and just take in players that are good NOW. If what you say is true, that anyone can improve in the SlayerS team environment, then wouldn't be a good thing to try and train a female player to be ground "breaking-ly" awesome? Is it so bad that she got the golden ticket/luck of the draw and was admitted into SlayerS? All the Eve haters should, in a sense, then be just as pissed when SlayerS_BoxeR gets an invite into a tournament when we can name 5 players off the top of our heads who are more deserving of the invite because of their performance thus far in StarcraftII. And please don't say, "Don't you dare compare the Emperor to Eve," he's my hero too, I'm just being reasonable Yet again you are missing the argument here, SlayerS can recruit who ever they want, I'm not suggesting that they are banned from recruiting people with potential. But they are puting this out there as helping female gamers. When it is just demeaning the whole process, by claiming there is some invisible male opression in SC2 because a few idiots posted some offensive pictures.

The reaction to SlayerS_Eve has already shown that most male gamers are offended by the idea of being challenged by a girl. It sounds like SlayerS_Eve could beat 99% of the players who hang out on this forum.
Further elaboration: I don't believe that girls should be given special standing, but I completely understand what SlayerS_Jessica is trying to do, which is to promote the idea that girls can also be pro gamers (there is arguably a large social stigma against them).
As Jessica stated, Eve is the best (known) female Starcraft 2 player.
Also when I said that it seems like male gamers are offended by it, I wasn't talking about the responses in this thread, more just the fact that a ridiculous amount of hatred was immediately spewed at Eve after the announcement of her joining team SlayerS.

Um. Isn't there white male dominance in gaming in general. Take out the white part ;p
It's not invisible.

Alicia was not in Diamond league. There is 0 comparison.
The potential of an extremely high Masters Protoss with a long history of semi pro RTS experience who demonstrated his talent at an audition tourney is much greater than a player who has two things to her credit: Diamond league... and a girl.

This is a repost from another thread but anyway:
The point i wish to raise is that do you think she would have been recruited if she was a female, in diamond and "Ugly"(Im no brad pitt myself here but i hope you get my point) and i think the answer to that is no she would not have.

I wasnt directly comparing Alicia to Diamon league. he was just bad in general but when boxer met him he saw potential and got recruited. way to go
i'll fill in the space
Diamon leage <<<POTENTIAL>>> and a girl.

As a fan, I want to say that I completely support your stance. You're just protecting one of your players from attacks that are completely out of line and sound like they could be really damaging to her mental state. Good for you, and good for Slayers!

Unfortunately probably not, Jessica even said her looks contributed to their interest in her even though it probably didn't play a big role in it.

It's not invisible. Oppression and dominance are not the same thing...I mean if i played 10 ladder games yesterday, all of them could of been against females or all of them could of been against males. I don't know, because it doesn't matter one bit, this is starcraft where being black, female, etc. It doesn't matter. Let the playing do the talking.

Since you abandoned your original comparison after I revealed it to be dumb, lets look at this one.
Her credentials are now... Diamond League, Potential, and a girl!
So why is she being recruited?
- It's not because she's in Diamond.
- Is it because of her potential? Maybe. Every single player in the world has potential, but perhaps her potential is much greater than that of all the other gamers in South Korea and SlayerS has recognized that. However, I find it pretty unlikely that SlayerS is able to spot specifics about her ridiculously high potential that convince them she is going to be a professional gamer with her playing at as low a level as she is.
- Is it because she is a girl? Jessica has stated repeatedly that Eve being a girl is one of the reasons they picked her up.
I'm sure I haven't addressed your argument again! That's what I say when I say something dumb and get called on it.

I think as a manager of one of the highest profile teams in E-Sports, your doing what anyone else would do in American Baseball, Basketball or Football.
You want to protect your players, and their families if they are victims of any unwarrented harassement. You want to respond to criticism against your players if it isn't warrented, unless your players do something stupid.
I DO question, putting Eve out there as a bench player when she may or may not have the skill to quickly participate in the GSTL. It's very much like putting a rookie quarterback into a starting position in the National Football League in the United States. It could go very very well and you may have done something awesome for your team. but 99% of the time, it backfires, and you end up with a sub-par player in a key position on your team.
I'm sure Eve will do fine, especially if she is put into the same practice regimen as MMA, Alicia, and Ryung. I wish nothing but the success for Team SlayerS and BoxeR.
영원 SlayerS! 영원 복서!

Lots of respect for Jessica for doing this. I want more and more girls in the gaming community. All the hatred from the angry little nerds should be stopped.

heres what happened to alicia. he lost in a lot of placement for recruitment and didn't play well on ladder. but when boxer met him he got recruited. why? potential. i will leave you with that comparison that was somehow missed.

Your just protecting your players and doing what you believe is right and making sure nothing bad happens to them. Don't ever stop what your doing because of what some stupid people have to say about it. Some may be criticism yeah but its also been taken to a whole other level.

He would have been in masters league though. Jessica was in gold when she was picked up. I find it hard to believe you could find potential in someone who lacks basic mechanics and game knowledge.

Thank you for this thought-out response. I wish Eve and SlayerS the best of luck!
And hopefully I'll run into Lim Yo Hwan at MLG Anaheim.
