Oh really? What happened to equality? You want to be equal, then you should be TREATED as equal. Not given special treatments.

It is obviously SlayerS prerogative to acquire a female player, regardless of her skill level (who knows, maybe she will develop into a great player). I take issue with her being on the bench when I doubt that there would be any circumstance that would arise and she would go into the booth.

Treatments should come from both the community and the players but i don't see it happening in a hunderd years aka some "protection" is required if we want it to happen at all.

First, an important thing in life is to consider the source. Do this with everything. If a random stranger came up to you and called you an idiot would you be hurt by their comment or walk away and laugh it off? If a person you know in real life is always making poor decisions, constantly making mistakes, and does not have their life on the right path, but yet they criticize you for choosing whole milk instead of 2%; should you value their opinion? If your best friend, a brilliant brain surgeon, told you he was concerned about some symptoms you were describing to him and he'd like you to get a cat scan; would you listen to him? The point I'm making here is that the people of the internet are faceless. They are a source that should almost never be considered. The words of the internet are usually as valuable as pond scum. It sounds like the internet culture in Korea is much more extreme than here in the U.S., but that does NOT excuse the ignorant and hurtful words of the faceless internet. But at the same time we must also face the fact that no number of lawsuits is going to make their ignorant comments go away. That's why considering the source is so important. By realizing the source of the hurtful comments has no value, one can easily completely disregard those comments. Is it hurtful to see someones face photoshopped on that of a porn actress? Yeah. But in the end it's not real, and everyone knows that. The people doing this to Eve are jealous. Of what importance is the opinion of a jealous person?

The only reason people are up in arms about her is because shes a bad player put on a pro team. If the girl was GM like MOST pros, I don't think there would be half as much commotion. Its the special treatment that pisses people off. THAT is the root of the issue.

And she's confused why people are lashing out. HA

You need to think a little. Voicing your opinion is one thing, doing something disgusting as what people did is completely different. Are they going to apologize, when she becomes good, because she was given the chance to train in a team like Slayers? Yeah...thought so.

Shes only on the team because she is a girl. And that is what pisses people off. I'm not saying everyone's reaction was a good or bad thing, I'm just saying that is what happened. And I'm laughing at the fact Slayers_Jessica didn't see it coming. You give a female a free ride in a male dominated community and you are GOING to piss the males off. Duh. And don't think there aren't people assuming the only reason a girl was recruited is because Jessica is herself, a girl.

I will admit, when I first read the details of your recruit Eve, I did not understand why your team would recruit a player of a low skill level, and thought it was more for publicity than anything. After reading your message here, I am glad that you have made it clear what your motivation was behind recruiting her, and I now fully support it. I have always hated the gender barriers in gaming, and I admire your stance on trying to start somewhere to set an example for others to follow. I will be sure to join her fanclub after I finish typing this, and hope that she enjoys her experience with the team, and trains just as hard as they do I also appreciate the time you took to make a response for our community, as we are not always so lucky to be addressed personally by the players or situations in the Korean scene, and obviously have to rely on Korean articles translated by the staff and members here. So again, thank you very much for making clear many things on your own time. I for one greatly appreciate it. I also want to agree with you that SlayerS is a professional team, and for this and other reasons, they will always be my favorite Korean SC2 team. SlayerS Fighting!

We all know that, nobody is trying to hide that. Does that give anyone the right to try to ruin her life and attack her at every possible occasion? And please stop generalizing like that. I'm fine with their decision and I support it, because if this move will bring more girls into the scene, it will only be a good thing. People were against the Koreans getting "free rides" at MLG tournaments and look how that turned out. Awesome games, more competition and more fun for everybody.

First off, Thank you Jessica for taking the time to quash some of the rumors and spell out your reasoning in black and white. The post was well written and thoughtful. I disagree with some points, but not everyone is going to agree on a matter like this. Firstly, I do take issue with you calling Eve a pro gamer. She is not you even state as much in your follow up sentence. Even professional sports teams have Farm teams and Minor leagues. Eve can very easily be considered in this stage and that I feel would have gone over with the community far better. I think most of the ire is at the prospect of a diamond league player in skill being elevated to pro without the skill to back it at this time. I fully support SlayerS decision to start actively recruiting Female players, we need more of them. I only point this out as I feel some of the PR debacle could of been avoided with better wording. The second sticking point was the mention in your original post that she was essentially recruited for her looks as well. I think this was an unnecessary statement and likely incited more rage then had that bit been left off. We clearly cannot guess your motivations, but it implies that had she not been attractive she wouldn't of been recruited. Seems pretty harsh when you stop to think about it? I had quite a bit more to say, but have decided not too as I don't want to see any more hostilities. I support SlayerS decision to recruit Eve, and hope they continue to recruit more female competitors that show long term potential. I hope that next time the PR release is just worded a little differently to avoid the reaction that happened this time. If this were a physical sport, I would agree with you for lower standards for women pro's. However it is not and I feel that SlayerS is causing themselves more grief by continuing to call a Minor league level player Pro. I personally feel that if Slayers started a female division of the team that was a minor league until the girls got good enough to be promoted to the professional leagues. That they would not only be doing themselves a huge PR favor, but doing female gamers in general a huge service by leveling a playing field that should be level in the first place. Good Luck SlayerS, and I look forward to seeing more of you and Eve.

Not given special treatments. Slayers does not need to make up excuses for their actions, just reasons, they don't need to justify themselves to anyone, their team, they decide who goes in. Their reason, in my opinion, is that they want the best female player they can get, to show that female players can be relatively good as well, and that is a good enough reason for me. Publicity stunt? Maybe, probably, but I won't judge Eve until I actually see her play.
