Look, the actual botom line is, if Eve never reaches GM level, or a modestly competitive masters. Slayers will never hear the end of it, and rightly so. If she proves to even be moderately competitive in small tournaments like the kind sixjax loves to play in, then slayers made the right choice.
Until she reaches that level though, the complainers have the right to complain about it because there is nothing besides the "We think we need female gamers so i don't really care if she's that good, she might become good enough that i dont regret this decision" which is what i get from the whole thing. I dont think anyone outright expects her to win and be Code S (though would be awesome if she did become code s) but at least being moderately competitive would be the outcome that would create the most satisfaction.

Even if that was the case, we'd have to wait to see the outcome before judging. But it isn't the case; you haven't given a reason that the complainers have the right to complain even if she was in bronze league. It's not their organisation. They can acquire whatever players they want and no one has the right to complain.

But from girls I kinda expect more. I really hate when I see girl smoking, talking vulgarly, driking beer (1-2 is okayish, though wine is always better) - or wasting time playing real games (as I said, I actually liked playing Worms with my ex).
Call me traditional, but IMO girls should be simply nice and reasonable. On the other hand, I guess there is different culture in Korea, so perhaps someone can take nerdy girls seriously there.. As fellow Czech, I just can't resist and comment on this. Wow. You sire are either a troll or an idiot. Really sad to see such opinions in 21st century. I just hope in time, more reasonable people will appear on the scene, who will not see women the way you do, deterring them from what they could actually enjoy, if only they were not looked down for liking something by individuals like you. The reason for a lot of girls not playing is, that they are too concerned about being judged for what they do, so if they get insulted, belittled for something, they'll stop doing it. So, my 'thanks' for only helping that. Sheesh.
This may be your opinion, but it's utterly disgusting and inappropriate, especially in topic like this one.
to everyone else here: I'm sorry for harsh post, it's just irking me beyond point to see someone who lives in the same country to be so narrow-minded; hell, even his signature shows how little respect he has towards women in general - and if it's a joke, it's terrible one. -_-

Yeah, but you don't have the right for what you say to actually matter. So don't pretend like it does.

If they had acquired a diamond player, then yes there would be no basis for complaint. But hell, i know plat/diamond gals who have "potential" and show it better, why doesn't SlayerS pick up one of them? why did they go after THIS PARTICULAR PERSON. Is it because she's beautiful (which she is, she could become a idol if she wanted), and they wanted a beautiful person over a average person with slightly higher skills in order to give the image of a girl gamer as beautiful, or is it because they actually think she can do it? I think it's more the first. They could have easily found a diamond even masters gal to pick up. But her looks made her the deciding factor just like a idol has to have good looks. It helps the image if shes succesful. If it works, it works very very well, if it backfires, it could backfire on the whole scene they are apparently trying to promote.
And it's a natural right to complain, as you said, it's not their organization. but that also doesn't mean slayers has to give a rats ass about the complaints either. Pro athletes don't ahve to give a crap about what some fan on a couch thinks, but that doesn't deny that fan the right to complain about it (inb4fuckyocouch). Like i said though, bottom line. Complaints will happen, and you cannot deny them the ability/right to complain. Once she shows what she can do complaints will stop, some people may even apologize for the complaints, but prob not.

i really enjoyed your juxtaposition to "traditional" values with the video game worms. It brought a slight relief to what was otherwise a ridiculous post.

Never have and never will, however that does not mean that somebody can't say anything. This topic was well over and should be dead but it is ignorant to say that somebody doesn't have the right to complain >
Edit:
Also this is not really an example of free speech. In no way would this be condoned as somebody practicing free speech, it is harassment by all forms.

probably 99% of the people posting in this thread, have not played on the Korean server...
This girl is in diamond on the Korean server? I'm impressed. I'm diamond on the Korean server (Masters on NA).
You cannot apply your perceptions of leagues from NA, to KR. It is on an entirely different level.

Both incidents as far as the US would be concerned are Free Speech. Perhaps there are laws that allow you to persecute the offenders, but the conviction rate would be very low and time served as well especially in the case where the end result is/could be death. It is harassment they should be persecuted.

She is diamond. They picked her because she won some Female League. It says so in the OP.

Freedom of Speech in the US only protects you if you say something like that about the government. When you say that to a person it's either libel or slander, in this case it's libel.

No to be honest, I just think that it makes you a bigot for not respecting somebodies right to complain about something they have a different opinion than you about.
This is my last post about the subject, and if you would like to further the conversation please PM me, but telling somebody they have no right to complain about something on an internet forum and then calling them a "fucking ass" for complaining is simply ignorant.

im glad jessica is standing up for her players and i think its incredibly interesting about the recruitment of eve. i love slayers they r an incredible team and i hope this situation is resolved peacfully
|
I don't get it. If you don't want to support eve cuz she is bad at the game, then don't? People get so worked up over stuff that doesn't affect them in the slightest. I'm sure people have more important things in their lives to complain about that have a greater impact than someone joining an organization on the other side of the planet.
