Yet another great write-up from http://rakaka.se/ summarizing the Starcraft 2 event at CPL 2011. Pictures of, amongst others, MKP and Jinro are included!
Here is the translated version of the article:
SaSe claims the silver at CPL 2011 Cyberathlete Super Stars Invitational (C2CSSI) which was arranged during The Shenyang CPL 2011 E-sports Super Star International Tournament (TSC2ESSIT). For his time and effort he received a cool 1600 USD and a nice warm up before GSL Code A, which is the next major event on Kim's schedule who is leaving Sweden for Korea, and will be moving into the GSL-house this August!
Top four at CPL 2011 Cyberathlete Super Stars Invitational: 1. MarineKingPrime.WE ($5 000) 2. SaSe ($1 600) 3. FXOqxc ($800) 4. WE.GIGABYTE.LovecdPrime
Pictures from the event:
The champion of the event, MarinekingPrime.WE!
SaSe with a cute girl, a check and a trophy!
FXOQxc with the same cute girl (hmm....) a check and a less shiny trophy!
And last but not least, a picture of Liquid'Jinro looking fearsome, watch out FXOLucky!
Is this the beginning of the end of MKPs reign as the king of silver? :O Would be awesome! Really saddening that tournaments of such sizes as this one doesn't nearly get the coverage they deserve.

MKP/Jinro fighting!
He has won 1st in other tournaments like SK Cup and FXOpens. But if you mean LAN, yes its the first.
Looks like there were some games between MKP and qxc. Epic!
Edit: from MKP fanclub:

I hope that this tournament victory and his victories in tvt against qxc allow him to gain confidence for his code A matches :D.
And you can see the vod of his final in CPL here : http://sv.twitch.tv/iccuptv/b/292005058. Playing against Hack soon, we will see you in code S after an epic final won against DRG I'm sure . MKP fighting!

Nice try but only Starleagues count to escape the kkong line.

so why are you worried? it's the US not the Korean server

Well NA server doesn't say shit but I am worried about MKP too.

I would be worried if a Korean player from a pro team doesn't have a high winrate on NA server

While it's true his 90% win rate on NA server doesn't mean shit - hack's tvt is ridiculous, after seeing him stream it seems by far his best matchup. Not so sure about marineking's tvt though D:
I'm not employed by the Swedish site. I just translated the title on the original article, however, if it pleases people, and makes more people aware that MKP claimed a gold at a lan, I would appreciate if a mod/admin could alter the title to include MKP?

Best regards, Coal
I think actually both things are major points and should be included.
Thanks to the admin who changed the title (probably Daigomi <3) Hopefully MKP will manage to overcome Hack, however, if he succeeds, it will most likely be a Thorzain vs MKP RO16, heartbreaking =(
Lol MKP having to battle against foreigners to get a first place :p congratulations to SaSe and i hope he goes far in Code A. Qxc is popping up more frequently these days - great to see as well.
ugh, this finals was so boring. mkp one based every single game and it lasted like 30 minutes for the whole finals. disappointing for what could have been an exciting foreigner vs korean tourney.

Yeah for reference - Rainbow as Black Citadel has nearly a 90% win rate on NA server too and he hasn't been doing well lately in GSL (Code B ).
I blame him laddering on NA server rather than practicing with his teammates >.>.
God damnit, forgot I had to renew the GOMTV account -_ - Just bought a TV and furniture for all my money, now I have to wait until the 25th to see the games

Can someone explain this? CPL doesn`t pay out?
The last CPL administration (which was American based) went bankrupt and didn't pay out the cash prizes to the winners, however the CPL trademark later got bought by some Chinese company. Since the organazation that is in charge of the event right now hasn't any typeof connection to the old one, they'll probably pay out the cash.
"The Shenyang CPL 2011 E-sports Super Star International Tournament (TSC2ESSIT)" Lmao this made me laugh for some reason...The name doesn't really roll off the tongue.
Anyway im happy that MKP has won something and im looking forward to seeing what Sase can do in Code A.

its a special event so it doesn't count, hes still in the kongline.
The Shenyang CPL 2011 E-sports Super Star International Tournament (TSC2ESSIT)
Seriously? Am I the only one who thinks we should let this one as The Shenyang CPL 2011 E-sports Super Star International Tournament, and not use TSC2ESSIT?
Anyway, grats to the winners, and I'm glad to see MKP finally grabbinbg a title, even if its not an extremely major one, there were some sick skilled players in the pool.

It's a pretty standard cap. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even know what sport it's about. I had to think for a second.
That cap is sold everywhere in Sweden as a cool "Hey, I love USA"-cap. No one even knows it's has the logo of the Yankees. Everyone just thinks it's for New York, and New York is the place where every little town-boy/girl wants to go when they grow up.
Jinro is only Swedish and not a fan of Yankees and probably don't even care about baseball (no Swede does).

You can't really know that for sure unless he said it himself...

Wait, the logo on that cap represents a baseball team in the USA?
holy shit I never knew :lol
Wore one of these for years, there were so many stands selling them for cheap on basically every fair I've ever been to. :lol
Someone needs to find out who the cute girl is. I think she is the same one who was at the NASL finals translating for Puma and other koreans. I wonder who she works for or how she is involved in sc, if it is indeed the same person in all these events.
Make sure to ask her questions the next time you see here during interview

Lol that girl looks nothing like the translator girl from NASL. Can only asians tell other asians apart? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She's not involved with SC, this is the first time she did any kind of esports event I think she said. Shes just a student with native level english that they hired to translate, not sure if she will be at any future events but she was nice and did a good job so I hope so.

MKP 1st place ? Well, I guess this cannot be really considered as the end of its curse since it's a quite minor tournament compared to GSL... Still, it might be the beginning of a hope ! Go back to code S and get that gold, Foxer !!
Best i can do for you guys now. I got most replay files from the latest stages of the event. Im finishing uploading game 2 as i type this. On the following days i will be taking care of the rest aswell as covering more series from the event with no specific order:
Thank you Jinro for all the info provided during the tournament and afterwards.
Enjoy and feel free to bash / torch if you rather. Peace.
Thank you for providing that content Esacpist! If you PM me I'll include the games on the front page. Any 1 else planning on staying up tonight for the GSL btw ? :D

grats Sase/QXC
Because Starcraft = Korea and everone knows how important looks are in Korea. Would be kinda racistic if only koreans were allowed to make a big deal out of the way starcraft player looks
Notice the position of the players behind the check in each picture.
MKP standing far to the left while while the man who I assume is his father appears to be contemplating taking the check from him on the spot.
SaSe and the girl split the check into equal parts with the look of a married couple who are taking the picture out of pure obligation.
QXC crowds out the girl to the best of his ability in what must have been either a test of her professionalism or a failed attempt to remove her out of the shot completely.
And then Jinro reminds us that whether he won the tournament or not, he can still kick everyone's ass in Starcraft(1 or 2) as well as real life, ban them on the forums, take away their girlfriends whenever he sees fit, and will wear a Yankee hat without apology or remorse because he's Liquid freaking Jinro.
MKP got the old asian dude because if he got the girl, she wouldn't be able to resist him. You can see even the old asian dude had trouble keeping his hands off of him.
