It's a 'Myth' that originated from people making accounts in both places and finding it to be the Case. In America's server, Master's is 3.7%, Diamond is 9.6% and Plat is 18.4% - So the top 31.7% is Plat+ In Korea: Master's is 2.5%, Diamond is 6.5% and Plat is 14.3% - So only the top 23.2% is Plat+ So even if we assumed completely equal skill levels of the two populations, It would still be true. But then if you add in that everyone says KR is harder, and you've very Easily got Plats and Golds who'd be beating Diamonds. No one said golds would beat Masters NA...But if you don't think some Korean Gold and Plats would wipe the floor with NA Diamond...you're just absolutely on crack. The KR ranks are much more exclusive, and the average skill level is simply much higher. Bringing Masters and Pro players into it simply doesn't address it....at all....because Pro players have the exact background that most of the NA people do not have. No this isn't correct at all, the leagues are fixed at being 20% increments (save masters & GM) of active players no matter what server you are on, the stats you are referring to are the inaccurate sc2ranks stats which don't consider whether a player is still active or not.
Well, That's not true at all. Those are the numbers for Season 3, And immediately it was clear Korea's server was more exclusively placed. There wouldn't have been any inactive players, since you'd have to be active to get ranked there.
The leagues are not actually fixed at 20%, nor have they ever been...the 'Target' is 20% Variations can then occur with different player bases.
As for whether Masters can be compared to Olypic players...it doesn't make any difference at all. I could have said 'Do you think its harder to make your High School Hockey Team in Canada or England?' And it's the same exact thing. Koreans have grown up with RTS stuff on TV, they've grown up playing this, its part of that culture. That's just not the case here. Koreans are on average BETTER. I don't see why that is so hard to wrap your head around, since you see similar things in almost every sport or game in the world.

that is not true, most people that have accounts on both regions agree that it's just harder but they would never agree that a gold KR would beat a diamond EU/NA
But then if you add in that everyone says KR is harder, and you've very Easily got Plats and Golds who'd be beating Diamonds.
"everyone" is misinformed people like you who probably do not play in master and not even on the KR server. people like you spread false information and then you have random dudes saying face-palming stuff like "KR gold beats NA diamond"
I did not even get to play much with gold/plat in KR cause after my placement I got in Diamond but they are just plain BAD exactly like the other regions. Did you watch the show ? That last 5th placement match the Terran player was Top plat division and was horribly bad.
No one said golds would beat Masters NA...But if you don't think some Korean Gold and Plats would wipe the floor with NA Diamond...you're just absolutely on crack.
I think YOU must be on crack thinking that KR gold would wipe the floor with NA diamond, that is just SO hilarious to read... because you are just making this up based on total wrong assumptions and false myths.
The KR ranks are much more exclusive, and the average skill level is simply much higher.
IT IS higher but in the HIGHER leagues not in gold. a gold player is bad both in KR and NA.
KR diamond is harder than NA diamond. KR master has A TON of insane people compared to NA/EU master which makes it WAY harder therefore at HIGHER levels IT IS indeed harder but you can't just apply the same logic to gold and plat leagues... sorry.

Yellow's play looked good, although the games were obviously heavily edited.
In one game it looked like he stomped a strong 4 gate after double fast-expanding. That's a good sign.
You could see him constantly scouting with his lings in all the games.
He could be a beast.

How would KR Masters > NA MAsters and KR Diamond > NA Diamond... but KR Plat NOT > NA Plat?
It just doesn't logically follow at all. On average the players there are better...and the Leagues are skewed to be more selective near the top.
If you're better than 1 in 3 players in your region, in NA You're Plat, in KR, You're Gold.
While I don't have my own KR account, playing on a Friend's it was clear I would not be Diamond there.
The idea that they're better at the Very top, but not at all better lower just doesn't make any sense. The 5000th best hockey player in Canada > the 1000th best in Italy The 5000th best Soccer player in Italy > the 1000th best in Canada.
It's just a matter of people on average being more exposed to that type of game for longer. Pro gamers all say it's harder, any friend I know who's played both says it much harder, and about half of those got ranked lower than their NA account is.
On every conceivable level, Korean Plat is just going to be harder than NA.

Man, so excited. Hope he makes it into Code A. Hes really improved.

He's improved a lot. He went from placing into platinum with a 5-0 into masters in less than 5 days, so he must have had a pretty good win rate. I hope he makes it into code A.

i never said that KR plat > NA plat, i said that KR plat/gold IS NOT > to NA diamond. Is it really that hard to follow? Jeez
When we are talking within same leagues sure. KR Plat is probably > than NA plat and so on.
But I was arguing regarding this hilarious myth that gold KR "wipes the floor" with NA diamond to quote mr.endersword here
I am not gonna post regarding this anymore because i think my point is clear and it is absolutely retarded to think that a gold KR would destroy a EU/NA diamond player - especially because most of the people spreading these myths are not even in master or do not play on KR, lol. Cheers gentlemen

sorry but: isn't that a little off topic? it's more than 2 pages that people are arguing over that: start a topic over the ladder system and don't derail this that's on YellOw not on Kr ladder being harder than the others or whatever...
on topic: I found the show entertaining but too less subs to fully enjoy it. sometimes they are a little to fast as the disapper with the camera angle changing... The part with the showmatch was a little saddening at first but then it was good to see he got it as a good motivation to better himself!
well, let's see if he can get it! YellOw fighting!

For all those arguing about the KR/NA thing
In my experience, Ive been playing on the KR/TW for about 2 weeks now, Im in the top of platinum
This is around about where i win 50% of my matches (vsing high plats and low diamonds on KR)
However on NA, im actually a high diamond and beating middish masters players 50% of the time and beating almost every low master player (rank 25+)
So for me:
KR = im plat vsing low diamonds and beating maybe 30-40% of them
NA = High diamond beating middish NA masters around 50% of the time.
So yes, there is a huge gap, its bigger then most people think.
Even bronze players on KR are soooooo superior to there NA counter parts, bronze KR players know how to play the game, (they know build orders can execute them etc etc) its just they dont have the speed, patience, and probably confidence to execute tactics and strategies and play out a full 20 minute game 100% of the time.
People saying that the difference between NA/KR is not as big as people think are deluded, as I can say from experience that it is quite big.
Also to the people who were arguing about gold KR beating NA diamond; i could honestly see one of the top Gold players beating a lowish diamond counter part from NA quite easily. Because of the fact that I went 18-5 while i was in gold on KR and i should be around the low master level easily in NA, I could definitely see a diamond player losing to a KR gold.

Yep.
Yellow already has the capabilities of microing and macroing well (from BW) + he already has the endurance + work ethic to be a progamer.
He just needed to learn builds, timings, and how the units work in SC2.

Anyone else catch that guy saying FXOSlog is on yellow's level, well better, but he's not that good in general.

Yellow on stream! code a preliminary
